I had died.

I didn't really feel sad or mad about it. I was sort of happy about it honestly.

Now, don't call me crazy just yet. Yes, me being happy that I died does sound completely ridiculous. But let me explain why.

I was just your generic guy in the real world with a decent job that got me enough money to pay for my rent, food, and such. I was lucky, if you could say that.

The problem was that as each day passed, it started to feel the same. Each day passed and I could say it started to drive me a bit insane because of nothing different happening at all.

I guess I could've just robbed a bank but I didn't wanted to get arrested and spend my entire life in jail.

I could've went around the world looking at the countries but I didn't have much motivation and money for that.

I didn't had any relatives or parents to talk with or hang out as I was an orphan. I didn't make any friends either as I was a complete introvert too and no one really liked me.

I didn't really have depression nor was I really edgy back then. I was just someone in the background like a generic character in an anime to summarize it.

There was many things I could do, but I simply lacked the motivation to do so. So I basically was stuck in a time loop, sort of.

I didn't like it.

I didn't hate it either.

It was just boring.

When I finally died, it sort of filled me with a bit of excitement I guess. Finally, there was something different. I'm not sure if I was one to go into hell since I didn't really do anything bad majorly.

I think I'm at least allowed to say I was more like in-between, but what happens to people that were in-between? In most cases, good people go to heaven while bad people go to hell. So what about people like me who isn't exactly good or bad?

…I guess people who were neutral gets sent to a completely black room, have their clothing back, and have their current body back. What the hell was going on?

Yes, that's what was happening right now. Isn't something like this like a punishment in hell? What did I ever do that got me here? There had to be something.

I looked around whatever pitch black room as I was in, I could see my body as if it didn't apply to light at all. I walked around for a couple seconds but not until a random screen comes out of nowhere and starts to typing out white letters.

Welcome, Mister Nicholas.

I apologize if this wasn't the ideal place that you were going to be in after you died like Heaven or Hell, but I've decided to have you have fun in a world of a certain manga or anime that you like to read or watch.

Huh, so I get reincarnation? Neat, and my favorite manga was JoJo's which was cool. Araki hadn't finished Part 8 yet but I don't think it matters now, hopefully.

You will enter the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Phantom Blood) with a simpler Gamer system.

Simpler Gamer system? Sounds neat, I don't like too complicated stuff anyways. I wasn't much fan of math back then in school. So, what's the catch?

There is no catch.

What? Aren't there usually catches whenever you give me something this good? Like there's immortality, and the price for is everybody you cared for won't be there for you in the near future-

There is no catch.

Really? You're not joking me, are you? No catch at all? No catch at all?

There is no catch.

Then I'll take your word for it, screen. So, what do I need to know now before I get into Phantom Blood?

Your Age will be set to 12 and you will keep your memories.

12 is a pretty good age, thought I would be a baby. What's even more is that I even get to keep my memories which will definitely be handy. No catch, right? Like you promised?

There is no catch.

So when do I go then, screen?

You will be entering in… 5… 4..

1…

I opened my eyes to see myself falling in the air for a bit before I successfully did a front roll when I landed, I managed to safely land on the grass thankfully.

I looked around my surroundings to see where I was… the sky was strangely purple and green, the atmosphere felt dark, and it was also raining.

I liked rain, but only when I was inside playing a video game of sort and drinking ice-cold soda. But even that got boring too.

Now was not the time to talk about that, I began to move around to see if I could get off the cliff but not until I heard a very not pleasant voice nearby. The very voice that caused an entire shitstorm.

"…but boy do these nobles have some fancy clothes." A raspy senile voice said nearby.

Dario Brando.

Dario's voice wasn't anything special, but the way that sentence was said was definitely Dario. I also realized that if Dario was around then I must be around the crash that caused JJBA.

It was raining too which was a big hint added with his voice.

For one thing, I don't like thieves. Another thing, I'm going to kick Dario's ass. I looked around the cliff I was on to see where Dario was and I found him under the cliff. I realized I was actually just spawned right on the cliff Dario was on.

I quickly got myself down the cliff safely by sliding (albeit it hurt a little) and got behind Dario, but he heard the noise I made getting down so he turned around quickly.

"HEY! Oh, it's just a stupid punk. Get out of here, you piece of shit. I got here first, so scram!"

"Don't care, you don't go robbing someone who's unconscious. Asshole."

"So what? What are you going to do? Fight me? Heh-"

I quickly ran and kneed Dario's face, he fell the ground but stood up quick for an old man. "You piece of SHIT! YOU'RE GOING TO PAY!"

"Dario! Don't! Just let the kid go-" The woman besides Dario tried to stop him but only got slapped in the face by Dario.

That was very not nice.

"SHUT UP! I'll do whatever I want, fucking woman!" Dario barked at the woman as he turned his head towards me again and started running at me.

I quickly picked up a rock and threw it at Dario's head as it managed to cause a slight wound, it started to bleed too. Jeez, how fragile is his skin?

Dario blurted in pain, but quickly got angry from me throwing the rock as he screamed like a man-child and ran at me.

No way in hell am I going to lose to an asshole like Dario or even get touched by him.

Dario got up close to me as he threw me a punch but I dodged it at the last second, I crouched and kicked his gut with as much as force I could put into it.

Dario choked a bit as he grabbed his gut to relief the pain but I took the chance to kick him in the head after that but it wasn't enough to render him unconscious. I was in a 12 year body after all.

Dario was just about to charge forward at me before the woman behind Dario grabbed his arms from behind. "STOP IT, DARIO!"

But her efforts were futile as Dario shoved her away as she fell to the ground. "Fucking woman. NOW! I'm going to fucking kill you kid."

And he was being genuine. I could hear and feel the absolute venom he put into 'kill'. This was now a life or death situation as he pulled out a knife he had hid in his jacket.

I would say he was unfair, but I threw a rock so I didn't have much to say.

Dario charged at me with the knife out like a drunken fool (he was starting to drool) as I also dodged it at the last second but the knife had reached my face unfortunately which made a nasty red line.

It started to bleed too, an eye for an eye…

But as soon as I got hurt, a bar quickly showed up in my vision which I assumed it was my gamer system. But specifically my health bar. There were two bars and a small portion of the first bar was gone.

My health was massively fucking fragile. I didn't think my health bar would be Far Cry's. I needed to be super careful in this case.

After Dario made a slash on my face as he made a very disgusting satisfied smirk on his face. Dario charged at me again with the knife but I dodged it properly this time around.

As soon as I dodged, I went for a kick at Dario's face which landed pretty strong as he fell to the ground from the kick. But I had to knock him out anyways, so I took the chance to kick him in the head again and slammed his head onto the ground.

For a second I felt a bit guilty and cruel for doing that, but for someone as shitty as Dario he deserved worse than that.

Nice. I stretched a bit. Now I had to focus on Jonathan, George, and that other woman.

"Ma'am, you okay?" I asked her as I stuck my hand out to help her up.

"N-No, I'm fine. Thank you for stopping Dario." She thanked me as she slowly stood up from the ground while accepting the help.

"It's fine. What should we do about this noble guy though? Do you have any place for us to stop by and rest? Sorry if I'm asking you too much."

"I-" But she stopped as she was interrupted from George coughing a little, I quickly went by his side to see if he was okay too.

George coughed a bit more before he looked like he could start talking a bit. George slowly turned his head towards me. "You…"

"Me."

"You came to rescue me."

I sighed. "Not exactly, I only heard the crash nearby and went to see what caused the crash only to see this scum here trying to rob from you. The woman besides me was with the scum, but she didn't rob you." I said as I pointed towards the unconscious Dario and the woman next.

George's eyes darkened at hearing what Dario was trying to do, but brightened back after. "I see, thank you for protecting me. What happened to my wife and son? Are they alright?" George asked me but with a weaker voice, it was clear that he was starting to lose consciousness.

"…I'll go check." I told George as I stood up and quickly walked to the carriage and took a look inside the passenger seat.

Sure enough, Jonathan's mother was dead sadly. She protected him from the impact of the crash looking at her bleeding head, Jonathan started to cry.

I took Jonathan out of the carriage and tried to soothe him as I carried Jonathan and showed him to George. "Your son's thankfully alive, but I'm afraid your wife sacrificed herself to protect your son from the impact of the crash."

George turned his head a bit away from me as he closed his eyes to cry for a bit. "Perhaps this is fate…"

There was silence for a few seconds before George spoke again.

"Thank you, please tell me your name while I am still conscious." George asked for my name as he continued his consciousness continued to leave him.

"Nicholas. I don't have a last name. I'll try to get you and your child to safety." I reassured him in-case he was nervous.

"Thank you, Nicholas. The Joestar will never forget our debt to you." George quietly said before passing out again. I sighed.

The woman brought George, Jonathan, and I into her house since we basically had nowhere to go while she took Dario back home, but I wonder what exactly was with her and Dario?

Back in real life, I did try to search up whoever this woman was but she was just some woman that Dario met at a bar. Why exactly did she stick with Dario anyways?

Right now, George was sleeping on the bed while I was sitting on the ground thinking to myself. "Hey, so uhh… why exactly were you with that old guy?"

She sighed. "I went to the bar at the time to get myself a small drink and go home, but I saw Dario drinking a bit too much and walked like he was blind or something. So I decided to follow him so that he wouldn't get hurt…"

Huh, so she was worried for Dario because of him getting drunk. Shouldn't have honestly. I shrugged to the answer. She definitely has a kind heart.

Currently, Jonathan was sleeping nicely while George was sleeping on the bed. The woman and I were on the couch she had in her house. But right now, there was one problem I had to take care.

Food. I wasn't hungry myself right now, but Jonathan and George are going to be hungry once they wake up so I'll have to get us some food whether I buy or steal.

"Hey, do you know any place where you can get some food? These guys are going to get hungry once they wake up, probably." I asked the woman as I stood up and stretched a bit.

She put her finger to her chin making a thinking expression. "Yeah, there's a few around here. I could give you some money to buy out some, I'll stay here to take care of them while you get some food."

She went to her desk, opened one of the cabinets, and took out some money as she gave them to me. I was originally going to steal, but I guess this is fine too.

"Thanks." I simply thanked her as I walked to the door and opened it preparing to leave to get some food.

"Stay safe out there, Nicholas." She told me with a cautious tone as I walked out of the door.

…and I say that's the end of Chapter 1 rewrite, I had somewhat fun writing this as I challenged myself to actually put thought into it.
