A/N: Here's Chapter 2! A bit of hurt/comfort sprinkled in because I love that genre. I apologize that I am a bit delayed in finishing this fic, but I promise the last couple of chapters will be up as soon as possible.

Patricia groaned when they walked to the door of her father's house and could hear piano music playing. That meant her twin sister Piper was already there showing off.

"If it makes you feel any better I wouldn't want to sing along to that." Eddie attempted to comfort her. She scoffed.

"She wouldn't let you. All the attention has to be on her. Let's just get the food and go. It should be easier to leave here than your dad's." They waited until the song finished to ring the doorbell so they could avoid the drama that would come from daring to interrupt the family prodigy.

"Here we go," Patricia mumbled when they heard the door being unlocked. Eddie squeezed her hand, saying so much in one supportive gesture.

"Patricia, you're fifteen minutes late. Piper has already-"

"In her defense Mr. Williamson, that wasn't our fault. We were at-"

"I really don't care. Who are you, young man?"

"Dad, this is my boyfriend Eddie."

"An American." He spoke in a disapproving tone. "I can't say I'm surprised you picked a boy with no manners."

"Hey! For your information I have manners, and even if I didn't at least I'm not a grouchy old-"

"Eddie, don't," Patricia warned.

"Listen to your girlfriend, boy. There isn't much food left so if you eat it all you'll have to pay to get more." He reluctantly let them in the doorway and went back to the living room.

"Ok, no offense, but your dad is a giant douche."

"That's putting it nicely." They walked to the kitchen where the food was, but before they could pick up a plate, an older woman stopped them.

"Oh, those aren't for you! Use the paper plates in the cupboard."

"Merry Christmas to you too, Aunt Matilda. Why can't we just use-"

"You're dating an American, dear. They're clumsy. Your father doesn't want him breaking any dishes."

"Eddie isn't clumsy, and you and I aren't close, so don't call me dear." Patricia snapped.

"If you want to eat you will use the paper dishes, and I am an adult. I will call you what I want to and will not tolerate disrespect." She pulled out the paper plates and put them on the counter before walking away. "Oh! Piper darling! Play that again." Patricia and Eddie rolled their eyes at how quickly her tone changed to a cheerful one. This was going to be a long night.

There were no seats left so the teens had to eat on the porch. Despite feeling rejected by her family again Patricia was glad she didn't have to sit at the table with the adults while Piper's accomplishments were bragged about and Patricia's life was criticized.

Patricia was quiet as she ate, quickly growing worried that being around her family would change how Eddie felt about her. Would he leave her now? Would this be too much to handle? Would he realize she wasn't good enough for him and move back to the States so he could be as far away as possible?

"Hey," Eddie's voice was soft. "If you want me to go back in there and kick your dad and Aunt Matilda's asses I'll do it," His concern grew when the comment that would normally cause the woman he loved to laugh instead caused a sigh. "Or not."

"It's fine. I'm used to it."

"You shouldn't have to be. The way they're treating you is wrong. You deserve better."

"I don't though. I'm not Piper. I didn't get the best grades or go to a prestigious music school. I don't win awards or do anything that makes them proud. I don't deserve them and I don't deserve you, Eddie." The way her voice cracked made his heart do the same.

"That's not true. Patricia, I don't give a shit about any of that because I love you. Every part of you, and you know something? I'm pretty damn proud of you too. You say you don't deserve them, but you're wrong because they are the ones that don't deserve you. Hell, I don't deserve you, but I feel like the luckiest man alive that you put up with me and my Americanisms your dad so kindly alluded to." She snorted. "You think I want the girl everyone thinks is perfect? No. I'd be bored. You make my life fun. You give me adventure. You accept me for who I am and don't try to change me, and I don't want you to change either. I could never leave you because I would feel incomplete."

"When did you get so sappy?" She teased.

"It's not sappy, yacker. It's honest. Let's get the hell out of here. These people don't deserve to breathe the same air as us. The food isn't even good anyway."

"Oh thank God I'm not the only one who thinks that. It's way too dry."

"Yeah, I'd rather have something made by my 'future stepmom'" He chuckled and she smiled.

"I'm sure Daphne would be delighted to hear you say that." She joked.

"Haha. I'm sure she would. See, there's that smile. I love that smile, and I promise you I will do whatever it takes to make sure I keep getting to see it."

"I love you weasel." She leaned over and kissed him. "Even though you can't sing."

"Hey!" He chuckled and wrapped his arm around her as they walked back to the car.

Her mothers wouldn't be much easier, but she felt comforted in the knowledge that they'd get through it together.

A/N: Shorter update. The last two will be longer, and will of course contain more family drama, but at least they aren't facing it alone. Thanks for reading and thanks to my beta AlexisDawn :)
