AN: This is my first fanfiction, so please be gentle. Expect slow updates, as it takes me a long time to write. Hephaestus isn't here because he's still on Lemnos in this story, but he will make an appearance later. Feel free to give suggestions for pairings with Percy using reviews, as I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go with it.

Update: This is crossposted on FFN and Wattpad, links are in my profile.

Olympus is doomed

Ascension of the Fallen: Chapter 1

A man strolled along the sidewalks of Olympus, whistling a jaunty tune all while waving at the gods who resided in the city. His perfectly tanned skin bathed comfortably in the afternoon sunlight, as the six-foot four god proceeded to walk into the throne room of Olympus.

The throne room was the size of several football fields. Like everything on Olympus, it was magnificent. Several twenty-foot beings already rested in the thrones of the room. Perseus was unfazed, growing to a height of twenty feet himself. The king of the gods proceeded to his rightful throne and lounged lazily in the chair. Perseus summoned his symbol of power, a beautiful dark sword humming with energy, and slammed it into the ground. All around the throne room, eleven bright flashes of light appeared, revealing the forms of eleven immortals.

The Olympians were the twelve most powerful gods of the Greek pantheon, unmatched by any other gods, major or minor. The eldest of Kronos lazily observed the other immortals, as he sheathed his sword on his back.

However magnificent the throne room was, it was not without problems. Zeus, his little brother, had been attempting to consolidate power by attempting to make his own children Olympians. Perseus and Zeus both knew that the more children that Zeus had on the council, the more votes Zeus would guarantee, and the more power Zeus would obtain. Zeus already had four of his children on the council, those being Artemis, Apollo, Athena, and Hermes. Hera would be forced to vote for Zeus, so that gave him a total of six votes, including himself. On top of his guaranteed six votes, the god of lightning was attempting to make that stupid war god and the insufferable wine god Dionysus Olympians.

Perseus chuckled quietly to himself, as he knew that Zeus was not as powerful in the Olympian world of politics as he thought. The god of time, darkness, and mountains had built close relationships with all four of Zeus' children. Perseus even had a close relationship with his sister Hera, although it was strained due to Hera's wrath on Leto as well as Zeus' other mortal lovers.

The eldest of Kronos snickered as he watched his sister Hera reprimand Zeus with a peacock feather for cheating on her again. Zeus hunched over to avoid his wife's wrath and looked to someone for help. Unluckily for him, no one in the room was willing to risk the wrath of Hera. After a few minutes, the goddess of marriage huffed and tucked away her peacock feather, as Zeus straightened himself.

"Perseus," the king would have to be deaf to not notice the venom and bitterness hidden in lightning god's voice, "you must call a vote on the matters at hand." The god waved a hand lazily at Zeus, watching with satisfaction as Zeus grew purple with rage. "For what?"

Zeus growled, the air around him beginning to smell like ozone and crackling with electricity. Perseus raised an eyebrow, knowing that Zeus was probably going to take out his stupid firecracker and attempt to threaten him again. The bright blue electric eyes of Zeus exploded in anger as he stood from his throne, glaring at his eldest brother.

"You know exactly what I am calling for, brother", his brother snarled angrily, his tone filled with venom.

Perseus scanned the rest of the room, reading the reactions of the other Olympian gods. Artemis sat in her throne idly, twirling a silver arrow. Her eyes betrayed her body language, as they hid an undertone of anxiety. In the throne right next to her, Apollo was dozing lazily with his eyes half-closed, though the tapping of his foot every few seconds said otherwise. Why they were tense, the god of darkness didn't have a clue. Aphrodite was changing her features rapidly, trying to find the prettiest form. Everyone there seemed outright bored. Hades and Poseidon were staring at the god of thunder and lightning.

"Little brother, your rather idiotic request is denied."

Zeus slammed his master bolt into the ground in anger, jolting the throne room. He stood from his throne, raising a pointed finger at the king of the gods.

"You're a despot! A tyrant! You're just like our father, abusing your power to control the council!"

Most of the council rolled their eyes; they had seen the lord of the skies accuse Perseus of this many, many times. If Zeus could change his vocabulary or make some kind of claim with real reason he might be taken just a tad bit more seriously.

Perseus drew his symbol of power again and slammed it into the ground, effectively silencing youngest of Kronos.

"Listen here little brother, and listen carefully," the god of darkness hissed, "do not pretend to be virtuous. I know EXACTLY what you are attempting to do."

The king of the gods rose from his throne, affecting the temperature and atmosphere of the Olympian throne room. Several Olympians shivered as the room suddenly grew darker and colder, a mark of the firstborn's power.

"You attempt to place more and more of your children on the council, consolidating more votes and more power for yourself. Tell me brother, do you attempt to deny this?"

Zeus clenched his teeth in anger. The god of thunder calmed himself.

"Brother," Zeus stated with an evil smirk, "I challenge you for your throne."

The king of the gods shrugged. He was sure the council would not allow this.

Perseus lounged in his seat as he waved his hand casually, signaling the council to vote on the matter. The god of mountains was stunned and gob smacked when all the Olympians except Hestia, Hades, and Poseidon raised their hands.

The lord of the skies smirked at this, "Then I, Zeus, god of the heavens, skies, lightning, thunder, and justice, challenge Perseus, god of time, darkness, and mountains for his title as king of the gods.

"Very well then," Perseus hissed, "I accept your challenge, little brother." Perseus drew his symbol of power once again. A midnight black blade with gold lining appeared in his hand. Zeus grew nervous as Perseus rubbed the emerald embedded in the hilt of the blade.

Perseus jumped from his throne, shrinking back to a height of six-foot four. He watched his brother do the same from across the room. Perseus narrowed his eyes. Zeus' eyes appeared to be brighter than ever before. Something was going on with his little brother. Before Perseus had time to deliberate, Zeus had already launched his master bolt at his chest. Perseus quickly rolled out the way before sending several knives made of darkness towards Zeus. The youngest of Kronos grunted as he took them to the chest. Perseus dashed left and right towards Zeus, but the thunder god raised his arms, calling down the most powerful blast of lightning Perseus had ever seen, far more powerful than his little brother's master bolt. Perseus took the hit straight through his body, shocking him to the core.

He collapsed on one knee. His arrogance would be his downfall, as Perseus believed he didn't need to use his domain of time in this fight.

Zeus, believing to have bested his eldest brother, approached Perseus triumphantly, only to receive a sword to the chest. Still, the lightning god countered with an electrical dagger straight to the side of the mountain god's torso, electrocuting the king of the gods.

Perseus grit his teeth and shot his left arm out, stabbing Zeus again with a darkness knife, this time on his shoulder. The king of the gods stood, now watching his little brother fall on his back. Perseus leveled his sword near Zeus' neck.

"Do you yield?" Perseus asked with full confidence.

Zeus simply smirked, as an arrow pierced Perseus in the forearm. The king of the gods pulled the arrow out, only to discover that it's head was silver.

Perseus turned around, "Artemis?" he asked, his eyes wide with surprise and betrayal. Artemis opened her mouth to speak, but three more arrows, this time gold, struck the darkness god.

The god groaned in pain, but Zeus had managed to stand up and fired his master bolt straight at Perseus. The god of time laid on the ground, as Zeus kicked him in the face, effectively breaking his nose. When his vision cleared, his little brother held his own symbol of power to the god of time's neck.

"Do you yield?" Zeus asked while smirking victoriously.

"Your children cheated and broke the ancient laws," Perseus argued, "I won the duel." The god of mountains glared at Artemis and Apollo. Artemis appeared to be tense, and instead glared at Apollo, who was clenching his fists in anger at something unknown.

Poseidon rose in anger, a trident appearing in his hands. Before he could act, however, Hera leveled a sword at his neck, while Athena leveled a spear at the sea god's back. Hades was enraged and rose from his throne to attempt to help his two brothers. His famed helm of darkness appeared on his head, while a pitch-black spear appeared in his hands. However, before the god of the underworld could help, Hermes flung two knives, pinning Hades to the wall. Enraged, Hades attempted to fling his spear at Hermes, but another two arrows from Apollo and Artemis pinned his hand to the wall. The archers proceeded to pepper Hades with arrows, then wrapped Hades and Poseidon in celestial bronze chains along with Perseus.

"I am the king of the gods now, brother." Zeus stated smugly.

Instead of Perseus' throne at the middle of the throne room, the thrones of Zeus and Hera took the center.

Perseus looked around the throne room, finding that no one cared enough to stand up. Hestia had tears streaking down her face but Perseus did not blame her.

"As king, I call a vote for the banishment of Perseus from Olympus."

The mountain god's eyes were wide with shock, stunned at the proclamation. Perseus knew that his brother was power hungry but did not think it would come to this.

"All for?"

Perseus grit his teeth in anger and sadness as all the Olympian council except Hestia raised their hands.

Zeus shrugged, "Then it is decided. Perseus will no longer have a voice on the Olympian council."

Perseus' throne disappeared into dust, as a blank throne was raised in place of his. Still, the god of time felt his power stay the same, as the disappearance of his throne did not dim slightly. His domains were powerful enough to not rely on a mere throne for power.
"For the next vote, all in favor of Perseus, god of time, darkness, and mountains, to be banished to Tartarus for his heinous crimes against Olympus?"

"Based on what crimes?" Hestia called out, her face radiating sadness.

Zeus grinned evilly and gestured to Athena.

"Perseus has committed many crimes against this council, including ruling as a tyrant and bending the council to his will as king," Athena stated in a monotone voice.

Perseus' eyes widened in shock. Why was his beloved niece backstabbing him? Zeus had taken his place as king, stricken down his throne, and now he wanted to cast him into Tartarus?

Immediately, Aphrodite, Hera, Demeter, and Zeus raised their hands. Perseus knew that Aphrodite was quite angry at him due to the god refusing to sleep with Aphrodite. However, Perseus had always maintained a good relationship with Demeter and Hera. Perseus turned to look at his two nephews and two nieces. Athena had her hand raised with full confidence. Hermes, Artemis, and Apollo shakily raised their hands. Their eyes were uncertain, and there was a sense of fear and sadness in their eyes.

"All opposed?" Zeus asked with a knowing smirk. Hestia was the only one to raise her hand, as tears dripped down her face. Artemis was barely holding back tears, and Hermes' face was covered with his hands in sadness. Apollo looked away from the scene. Still Perseus could not bring himself to care for those who had betrayed him.

"The Olympian gods have decided. For your extreme crimes against Olympus, you are banished to Tartarus for eternity." The lightning god rose from his throne and snapped his fingers.

A large hole appeared at the center of the Olympian throne room. Perseus could feel the malevolence from where he sat. The god did not cower; rather, he straightened himself and embraced his destiny.

Zeus opened his mouth to speak again, but Perseus interrupted the lord of the skies.

"Olympus has made its gravest mistake, Zeus. Olympus shall pay," the god of time bellowed, shaking Olympus to its very foundations, "I will return, and when I do, I will tear Olympus down brick by brick, savoring the looks in your eyes as you realize it is YOUR fault. You shall all fall before me. This I swear on the immortal void of Chaos." Perseus laughed psychotically, his body shaking as he stepped towards the Pit.

Zeus replied, "Your name will be erased from the books, from history. Your name, your feats, your accomplishments shall never be told. No one will remember you, mortal or immortal. Your name will never be uttered in these halls ever. You will be faded as we erase you from history, brother. From now until the end of time, there exist only six children of Kronos and Rhea."

The king of the gods smirked at his elder brother, relishing in the moment of triumph, "Enjoy Tartarus, brother."

Perseus' eyes widened, before he laughed, sending chills down every single god and goddess present. With his final step towards the Pit, he uttered a promise. Regret started festering in the veins of the gods as the god of time, darkness, and mountains uttered his last words. But it was too late to change anything. The deed was done.

"Olympus shall fall."
