Two Mortal Brides

The Alternate Ending

(Welcome to an alternate ending of Two Mortal Kombat Brides. The what could have/ should have R&R)

City lights gleamed and crowds gathered at various stores and restaurants; it's a lively Saturday night in Earthrealm. Many mortals have come to realize and even grow accustomed to other realms spectators and visitors; more often they were Outworlders, and Edenians that wanted the experience of a night out of their realm.

Tonight, was no different for the two families visiting the Earthrealm city life.

"Alright does everyone have their things?" Raiden took account of his two children and brother that stood by the door waiting for Magdalyn to come downstairs.

"Mom must really be trying hard to look good, dad." Savannah looked at her father who in return kept checking his watch.

"Magdalyn! Let's go I'm sure you look fine by now!" Raiden never understood why his wife wore so much makeup; he's seen her in worse conditions honestly. "Magdalyn!"

"Um Raiden is it possible not to upset your wife tonight? I'd like to leave the house without taking aspirin for once." Frowning Raiden looked at his brother in irritation.

"You think I like being upset?" Before Fujin could answer Dante broke in the conversation. "Dad, remember your blood pressure?"

Sighing the Thunder God nodded and patted his son affectionately on the head. "Yes, I know, I need to "chill out."

"Dad, please not again." Savannah grinned while face palming.

"Why are you kids not "digging" my new vocabulary?" Raiden stuck up the "peace fingers" while leaning against his brother for support.

"I thought we agreed you weren't meant for the "cool dad" role, Raiden" Fujin chuckled while playfully knocking Raiden off his shoulder.

A few more laughs were exchanged before Raiden's wife, Magdalyn came down in a simple pink dress that went a little below her knees and her hair straightened to perfection. Her nails had been done the day before, and painted a light coral pink as well.

"Well shall we go or are you too busy acting like a fool in front of your own children?" Raiden straightened his hat and helped his wife down the rest of the steps.

"It makes them laugh; which I'm sure you'd be happier if you learned to do that as well." Frowning at her husband Magdalyn kept quiet while she was led down the rest of the stairs.

"Alright children let's go outside and wait for the others." Fujin opened the front door and walking out the Thunder family waited outside in the courtyard for the rest of their company.

Sighing Savannah crossed her arms and looked at her father; who in return gave her a stern look. "Remember we don't do this often so I expect you to behave."

Raiden was aware of his daughters dislike towards Tiberius but with Magdalen's temper, and Rashid's cold demeanor along with Shinnok being Shinnok all sorts of things could go wrong. Luckily this wasn't the first time they've done this so the standards of how to behave were set in stone.

Suddenly a portal of red appeared and continued to grow in size until three silhouettes emerged from the center. First Shinnok, Rashid and then Tiberius who all looked as tense as Raiden's family. Well except Fujin and Dante who were playing rock, paper, scissors in the background.

"Well you're right on time…" Raiden was on edge but he only did this for the children's sake and whether he liked it or not they were a family. It made his kidneys shrivel when he thought about it but he was willing to go along with this.

Raiden and Shinnok walked towards each other and bowed respectively and yet keeping an eye on each other. Believe it or not Fujin convinced them that a few hours of peace in each other's company could be resolved if they just kept temporary terms.

Even Rashid and Madelyn weren't spared this arrangement. The two siblings had to hug for a span of three minutes; which to both of them felt like eternity. However painful it was and that they're husbands had to force them to make contact it kept the sisters silent and separate from each other for the rest of the night.

The kids were fine; save for Savannah keeping distance from Tiberius. When Dante was involved Tiberius kept his cool and left Savannah alone for the most part. Not to mention with Fujin being their chaperone they had to behave.

"So where are we going today?" Shinnok asked civilly with some sting to his voice. Deciding to ignore it, Raiden acknowledged his evil brother in law.

"I figured we'd go to Hong Kong; something we're more affiliated with." Satisfied with the location and with everyone ready to go the families were transported and taken to the city of Hong Kong a place known for its city night life.

Hong Kong

Neon lights of various colors lit the streets and stands of Hong Kong. Many civilians walked in and out of stores and restaurants, as well as food and merchandise stands that offered sweet deals and trades.

Barely anyone looked when a portal opened up and two particular families came through. Many had gotten used to visits from citizens crossing over from other realms so they paid little attention. As usual Raiden was the first to lay ground rules.

"Okay before we let you kids loose we need to…"

"Fish Balls!" Tiberius ran and almost made it to a food stand before being grabbed by a large skeletal hand that threatened to squeeze the air out of him.

"Ow…" He was soon face to face with his father who was obviously not pleased.

"Listen boy, because of you and your little bull riding adventure we are officially banned from Texas; with that knowledge in mind I suggest you listen."

Tiberius gulped and nodded as Shinnok went over the rules of what he was not allowed to do.

"No chopstick fighting, no stealing wallets, no calling mortal's telephone numbers saying you're holding a relative hostage and mimicking their voice, no dog riding and certainly no hooking up with strange women." Tiberius cocked an eyebrow at his father.

"I just don't want you to be chained up like me, son." Shinnok immediately felt a piece of food hit his head.

Smirking to his wife's displeasure Shinnok opened up his wallet and handed a few bills to Tiberius. "Now get out of my face before I crush you."

Nodding Tiberius bowed to his father before leaving and disappearing into the food stands.

Shinnok turned and saw Raiden dismiss his children after laying down his conditions. "Pathetic, daddy still has to teach his kids how to say thank you."

Magdalyn and Raiden began to walk by various stores and stands. Just earlier they had argued before he let their children roam free. It was better to let them roam they didn't need to see and hear all this nonsense.

"Why do you insist on making me out to be the bad guy?" Raiden fumed meanwhile walking with his arms crossed.

"You're as strict and controlling with them as you are with me!" Frowning Raiden shook his head and continued to browse through the stands.

"I only do this out of concern and care for them. They're our children after all; I don't want them hurt."

His wife had turned into a nagging inconvenience over the years; how they had made it this long was beyond him.

It wasn't like the thunder god to quit; however, many times Magdalyn had threatened to leave she never actually did. Did she still care?

"Magdalyn, if you don't like my rules or how I do things then why are you still here?"

She turned and faced him angry tears threatening to spill over.

"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Ray-man!"

Quickly turning to the voice Raiden felt relieved to see Johnny Cage walking with his daughter, Cassie.

"Johnny and Cassandra Cage, it's nice to see you both here."

Noticing Magdalyn wasn't next to him Raiden gently pulled her to join him. She pushed her emotions aside for the moment and held Raiden while smiling with her friends as they decidedly walked together through the stands and carried on conversation.

"We're heading home tomorrow afternoon; Sonya will hopefully take off time next year to come back with us." Nodding thoughtfully Raiden looked down at his wife and noticed that she was still hugging him.

"Are you alright?" Not answering Raiden returned his attention to his ally when he noticed that Johnny Cage had picked up a tired Cassie in his arms. "Well I better head back, Raiden. I'll see you around some time."

Saying their good byes, the allies went their separate ways and continued on with their night.

Unknowingly Magdalyn had walked into the store and was looking at an old painting that looked like the village she came from; before Raiden had offered her the proposal. "Do you want it?" Raiden looked at his wife half-expecting her not to answer.

But to his surprise she nodded.

Magdalyn began to tell him stories about what it was like growing up in the village and where she used to collect rocks, pick flowers and play with her friends.

At times like these when they weren't arguing, flinging insults at each other, or blaming one another it reminded Raiden of a simpler time. Before their children were born and the thoughts of conceiving a male heir came into play. Maybe he wasn't looking for a male heir but something more meaningful to this eternal existence.

Magdalyn felt Raiden staring at her and turned in his direction. Her eyes had softened and her face looked as youthful as it was when he met her. Something about this moment just fulfilled him and yet he also felt like he didn't deserve it.

"Magdalyn…" Raiden held her hands in his and noticed how small hers were in comparison. "I'm sorry I took your youth away, your life, everything you loved to do…"

He felt tears form in his eyes until the thunder god couldn't hold it back anymore. They streamed down his face and fell on his wives hands.

"Raiden..."

Looking up he looked her in the eyes. "I've always wanted to know I meant more to you than an heir provider."

Swallowing Raiden nodded. He cared for this woman more than he thought possible. How could he not. The mother of his children, the one who could match his temper, and make him feel any emotion concerning love and care.

Holding his face in her hands, Magdalyn brought him close and laid her forehead against his.

"I'll always care for you; even to the end of your days."

Shinnok and Rashid

Sighing he turned to his wife and noticed her looking at a certain food stand. Chuckling he walked over and offered his arm to her. "Hungry, are we?"

Rashid gave him a small smile and placed her arm in his and started to walk with him. "You don't want Tiberius in chains huh?"

"Hope you don't mind I put a lot of effort into saying something affectionate every now and again." Shaking her head Rashid laughed knowing it was true.

"You know I wasted my egg waffle from throwing it at your head." Scoffing Shinnok looked down again. "Well it sucks to be you."

"Can you get me another one?" Shaking his head and leading her away from the food stands he answered, "No."

"Please?" Rashid tugged on his sleeve and tried to give him a dazzling smile.

"Suffer." Shinnok wasn't having it, at least until another man walked by with another fresh egg waffle bigger than the one that hit his head earlier. Knocking the man out when he was in reach and grabbing the waffle mid-air he gave it to his wife.

"Here eat." Taking it from him, Rashid looked up at him and blushed.

"Don't get any ideas you're a pain in the ass." Putting her arm around his waist Rashid continued to walk with her old sorcerer.

Sighing Shinnok wrapped his arm around her also. "Am I still an asshole?"

"Yes, a mean grouchy over-particular asshole, but you make me laugh and you always have my back." Shinnok chuckled and stole some of his wives waffle.

"Am I still a walking nightmare?" Holding back a laugh the fallen elder god nodded.

"By Shao Kahn's tomb yes. You are a moody enraged pain in the ass that I enjoy taunting for my own benefit, but…"

Stopping at a drink stand and grabbing a couple green teas the Fallen Elder God gave one to his other half.

"You have given me kindness that my own mother denies me."

Looking at each other in silence they both knew. He didn't need to say it; she knew he cared for her and their son. In his own way and she couldn't have asked for anything less.

At the end of the day no matter how many names they called each other or whatever burned to the ground in result of a fit of rage; there was a bond formed in between a mortal and a god. As ridiculous as it came out to be or unexplainable; it had all been real.

TIL Death do they part.
