The death of the little girl had similarities with one of his previous investigations.

The victim was always bound, gagged, tortured, and eventually strangled.

It was always little girls, never little boys.

And always in the age range of 6 to 9 years.

- I hate child murders!

Goren looked at Logan.

Goren had a blank stare.

It was getting harder and harder to work in homicide.

Seeing the murders of children his daughter's age was upsetting, but most of all it made him sick.

Every night, he would have terrible nightmares, where the dead body of the dead child was none other than that of Francès, or Adele.

And he would wake up crying.

Alex always took him in his arms trying to soothe him.

But it was long.

And he couldn't tell her about his nightmares.

Maybe he was going to pull the curtain back, and leave Homicide, for a job as a simple policeman.

Alex knew that homicide was tough.

That psychologically it could destroy a man.

Would she resent it if she asked for a transfer to work in a small precinct?

- Bobby?

At this voice, he snapped out of his thoughts.

The man who had just spoken, and entered, was none other than Gage, his mentor.

Gage hugged Goren, happy to see the boy he had always considered his son.

- Logan, my partner...He pointed to Gage. Gage my mentor.

So he was the famous Gage.

Logan held out his hand and shook it.

- I heard about the case you're working on. He turned his attention to Goren. The killer uses the same methods as Sebastian.
