Ruth Powers was getting out of her car to do the weekly grocery shopping when she overheard Helen Lovejoy being a mouthy gossip, which all of Springfield knew, was nothing new.

"Did you know that Marge dyes her hair blue?" Helen snickered to her gossipy friends, Luann Van Houten and Martha Prince.

"What's her natural hair colour?" Martha asked.

"Grey!" Helen blurted out.

Ruth could feel the hairs on her neck spring up, and her face turn red – she was starting to get sick and tired of the way Helen would bag everyone in Springfield out, especially Marge Simpson – a good friend of Ruth's. Just a few years ago, Helen spread word that Ruth's daughter, Laura, was, in her words, "a juvenile delinquent" – this resulted in Laura leaving Springfield and living with her aunt in Waverley Hills, something Ruth never truly forgave Helen for.

"The whole entire Simpson family are losers, let's face it!" Helen laughed.

"Well, Bart and Milhouse are friends, so…" Luann said.

"And I wish you'd put a stop to that friendship, Luann." Helen said, interjecting. "You know, just as well as I do, that Bart is a no good hoodlum!"

That was enough for Ruth. She marched over to where Helen and her friends were.

"Hello, ladies!" Ruth said in a loud voice.

Helen stared Ruth down. "Oh, hi…"

"I couldn't help but overhear what you said about Marge Simpson and her family, and I just want to say that maybe you should look in your backyard before you criticise the Simpsons!" Ruth bluntly told her.

"EXCUSE me?!" Helen looked appalled at the fact Ruth was calling her out!

"You heard me, Helen Lovejoy!" Ruth continued. "All you do is bag everyone and make people feel like shit with your snobbery and judgmental behaviour! You're the reason Laura is living in Waverley Hills with her Aunt Melissa!"

"Me?!"

"Yes, YOU!"

"Now, hang on a minute!" Martha started to say.

"YOU shut the hell up, Prince!" Ruth shouted at her. "Instead of spoiling Martin, how about you send him to a fat camp?!"

Martha's jaw dropped! "But…" she started to say.

"Oh, don't talk like a goat!" Ruth snapped.

Martha walked away as Ruth continued to roast Helen!

"Why don't I talk about Jessica, huh Helen?! Why don't I talk about the reason Timothy prefers to play with his train set than make love to you?! Shall I go on?!"

Helen was left speechless.

"I…"

"The only reason you're so bitter is because Maude Flanders is dead!" Ruth stated. "When Maude was alive, your gossip wasn't so malicious! The only reason people hang around you is not because they like you, it's because they're afraid of you!"

Luann nodded her head.

"Now, I suggest you leave Marge Simpson and her family alone! If not, I will tell the whole world about your dirty laundry, Helen Lovejoy!"

"Um…"

"Now, check that!" Ruth said before clicking her fingers in the face of an embarrassed Helen and walking off!

As she entered the grocery store, Ruth smiled to herself. It was about time someone put Helen Lovejoy in her place, especially where Marge was concerned.
