Spotted Affection

It was a beautiful summer afternoon as the sun was high up in the sky with the occasional clouds overhead. Down by the park underneath the shade of a large oak tree were two canines, one was a small Dalmatian wearing a red collar with a grey star under his neck, the other was a slightly larger husky wearing a blue collar with a golden tooth under his neck. The two were staring up at the sky as they laid down next to one another, the smaller dog pointing up.

"It's a...kangaroo", He said as he pointed to a large cloud resembling what appeared to be the animal he was describing.

"I think it looks more like a rabbit, the ears are fluffier", The husky replied as he looked bemused at his partner's description.

"You sure about that, I think it looks too tall for a rabbit", The Dalmatian countered with a raised brow.

"I mean, they're clouds, so they could be at any size, I just think the shape looks closer to my description", The large male said with assurance.

"Oh, so I suppose you're Hansel the Rabbit Whisperer, eh?" The smaller male remarked with a grin.

"Hehehe, oh, you're such a dork sometimes, Dylan", Hansel chuckled as he patted the Dalmatian on his shoulder.

"Oh, yeah, you know me, I'm the king of the dorks as some people say", Dylan grinned coyly, "lookit me as I rule over the land of dorks."

"Oh, dog, stop, you're milking it", Hansel continued to chuckle as Dylan found himself doing the same, the sound of the husky's laughter always brought a smile to his face, then again, pretty much anything about Hansel brought a smile to Dylan's face, even though he was hesitant to say it out loud, not wanting to make things awkward between him and the husky.

"You know, I'm glad to have gotten a bit of a break from watching the pack as Dolly, Mom, and Dad are taking the shift today, gives me more time to spend with you, haven't done so in a while", Dylan said as he counted his fingers, "I believe ten days at last count."

"Ah, yes, I sometimes wonder when you go off for so long that you might have forgotten yours truly", Hansel replied with mock offense.

"Aw, c'mon, you know I'd never forget about you, your face is sealed in my mind...wow, that totally wasn't awkward", Dylan blushed as he mentally kicked himself.

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that, after all, I could never forget your face either, I mean, who could forget a cute face like that?" Hansel chuckled as Dylan joined in at first before he paused at the word the husky had described his face.

"Uh, you think my face is...cute?" The Dalmatian quizzed with a tone of both curiosity and what sounded like hope.

"But of course, why else do you think I get sparkly eyes whenever I see you?" Hansel replied coyly.

"Well, when you put it like that, I suppose it makes sense…snrk, I especially remember the time you and Fergus stopped by for a little guys' time and you kept grinning at me and frowning whenever Dolly tried to intervene", Dylan grinned as his mind went back to that event.

"Yeeeeeeeah, no offense to your sister, but she can be rather...clingy when it comes to me I've noticed. She's a nice girl and all, but I think she tries a little too hard to 'get with me' if you get my meaning", Hansel said as his eyes rolled.

"Reminds me of a certain someone who wouldn't stop trying to get with me after I tried to show her how 'cool' I was…" Dylan shuddered at the memory of Portia, "Honestly, sometimes I think I try too hard to be the boyfriend type to girls, especially since I seem to have a tendency to make some...rather poor choices."

"I heard about that, never knew someone could be so flip-face, being all downcast one minute and then just wanting to squeeze you like a grape out of 'affection'...that's just creepy", Hansel concurred, "personally, I don't bother with girls that much in that department as I just don't see myself being happy going down that route."

"Wish I could just stop doing it altogether because I need to convince myself I need a girlfriend for some reason", Dylan frowned as he looked down, "really, I wish I could be more true to myself and not hide behind a facade, especially since...well, you might have guessed I...you know, like you...a lot...I've just not been able to put it into words properly because I wanted to avoid any awkwardness between us…"

"Well, maybe you don't have to worry about that anymore…" Hansel replied as he edged closer to Dylan, "I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to taking it to the next level with you, so long as you wanted to."

Dylan looked up at the husky and had to do a doublecheck to make sure he'd heard that correctly. "You mean...you and I...you'd like for us to become a...thing?"

"I've a feeling you do…" Hansel placed his paw on top of Dylan's and smiled at the blushing Dalmatian.

"Well, I guess...I guess I do...heh, you know, I feel like...a massive weight's been lifted off me", Dylan smiled sheepishly as he was now nose to nose with Hansel.

"That's good to hear, I like seeing you content, especially since it means I get to look into those beautiful eyes of yours…" Hansel cooed charismatically.

"Haaaaaaa, you think my eyes are...beautiful?" Dylan murred in a lovestruck manner.

"Without a doubt…" Hansel confirmed as he moved his muzzle forward to make contact with Dylan's lips, the spotted male making a muffled noise before his eyes closed as he settled into the kiss. The two canines held their lips together for some time before they separated for breath.

"Mmmmm...you kiss nice…" Dylan cooed with a particularly dorky grin.

"Well, you taste delicious", Hansel cooed back as he wrapped his tail with Dylan's, "you know, I hope you won't mind making this a regular thing."

"Not at all", Dylan replied as he nuzzled right up against Hansel, "not at all."
