DM Margo's Glass Gashing Chapter 1

It was a lovely sunny day and Lucy was out for a jog one morning while her daughters were at school. She was all dressed in her sports outfit, including her red shorts and white T shirt and her black and white sneakers and everything. She jogged around the park and along a street where she came to a little stand. A man was selling some sort of drinks. ''You wanna try our new vitamin water?'' he said to Lucy, ''These are free samples''. Lucy tried the different flavoured waters. She drank so much that she soon squirming and crossing her legs and desperately needed the toilet. Lucy grunted and mumbled. She felt like she was going to explode.

She came to a restaurant that had a sign in the window. It simply read 'Restrooms For Customers Only'. "GRRRRR!" Lucy groaned, feeling rather frustrated, ''I gotta find a place to tinkle!''. Just as she thought she was going to have to pee behind a bush, Lucy saw the school where her daughters went in the distance and hurried across the road when it was safe. She snuck inside the school and went into the girls toilets. She shut herself in one of the cubicles, pulled her pants and sat herself on the toilet seat, finally being able to pee. "Ahhh…yeah!" sighed Lucy, blissfully. Just then, Margo came into the toilets to wash her hands. She thought she could hear her mom's voice in one of the cubicles.

''Hi Mom. It's nice to see you'' said Margo, cheerfully, ''But what are you doing in school?''. "I needed to use the bathroom as quickly as possible, Margo" Lucy explained. ''Ok bye Mom. See you later, love you'' said Margo as she left for class. "Love ya too, Margo" Lucy called after her daughter. Lucy pulled up her pants and washed her hands and left. She returned to her jogging. Lucy smiled to herself as she thought about what she had in plan for the girls tomorrow on Saturday. Lucy and Jillian had arranged for the girls to spend the day with Jessica and have like a pool party for the four of them. Monday next week was a bank holiday so the girls had a long weekend. The next day was bright and sunny, the perfect paddling pool weather.

At Jillian's house. Margo, Edith, Agnes and Jessica got changed into their swimming costumes and went out to the back garden in their bare feet. They each wore one piece costumes. Margo's was green with yellow, blue and red stripes round the middle, Edith's was stripy pink all over, Agnes's was blue with two purple stripes on each sides from top to bottom with a picture of a unicorn in the centre and Jessica's was yellow with a big red heart. They also had a pair of pink goggles each. Jessica was one of those lucky children whose mom had been able to afford a big paddling pool which you could fill the water up deep. Jillian had even set up a slide for them to go down into the pool to make things even more fun.

The four girls splashed about happily together in the cool water. They whooped, yelled and cheered. In the kitchen, Jillian poured some ice cold drinks into some glasses for the girls. She took them outside on a tray. ''Here ya are girls'' she said, ''I made ya some nice cold drinks''. The girls got out of the paddling pool and went to over to Jillian. "Thank you, Mom" said Jessica. "Thanks, Auntie Jillian'' chorused the other three girls. They each took one of the glasses filled with ice cold orange squash. Little ice cubes floated on top. The girls headed back to the pool slurping their drinks. But Margo didn't watch where she was going and slipped. She fell over on top of the glass in her hand, smashing it to pieces. She cut her hand and chest on the broken glass in the process!

"AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!" she screamed in pain. Lucy heard her and came hurrying over to her daughter. ''OMG! Margo!'' she hollered. Margo lay in a mess of broken glass and blood which was steadily leaking from her hand and chest. Jillian, Edith, Agnes and Jessica looked horrified to see Margo bleeding so badly. ''Stay away until I've cleared this mess up'' said Jillian, ''We don't want any of you girls getting hurt too!''. The other three girls didn't need to be told twice. Lucy took Margo away from the broken glass and tried to clean the blood away with some wet wipes. But no matter how she wiped, there was always more blood leaking out. Lucy sighed, her daughter's wounds looked seriously deep!

''I'm gonna call for an ambulance'' she told Jillian, ''Margo needs to go to the hospital as quickly as possible''. Lucy took out her phone and dialled 911. ''Which service do you require?'' asked the operator on the other end of the phone. ''Ambulance please!'' said Lucy, urgently. Then when the call handler was on the line, Lucy said, "This is Lucy Gru. My daughter Margo had an accident and she cut both of her hand and knee and chest on broken glass and they just won't stop bleeding''. Lucy gave Jillian's address and ended the call. The ambulance soon arrived on the scene. The paramedics wrapped Margo's wounds in gauze dressing to reduce the bleeding.

''You did the right thing to call us madam'' one of them told Lucy, ''That's some serious bleeding and it's dangerous to lose too much blood you know''. Then the paramedics made Margo comfortable on a stretcher and carried her into the ambulance with Lucy by her side. Lucy closed the back doors behind them and the ambulance sped off with its lights flashing and siren wailing. They arrived at the hospital without delay. Lucy and Margo went through to Accident and Emergency. While Lucy dealt with the paperwork, the trauma team consisting of doctors, nurses and surgeons who knew how to work fast in emergencies attended to Margo. They were all worried that the glass might have gone right through to her internal organs which could be very serious indeed.

One of the doctors checked Margo's breathing with a stethoscope. ''We're really concerned that one of the girl's lungs may have collapsed'' another doctor told Lucy, ''So we have to make sure that she has air moving on both sides of her chest''. ''Have you had any problems with your breathing or does it feel all right?'' the doctor with the stethoscope asked Margo. ''All right'' said Margo. Next it was time to focus on the cuts which needed further investigation. The doctors took Margo to the X-ray department to have a chest x-ray to make no shards of glass had penetrated anywhere they couldn't see. ''Relax and hold your mom's hand'' said the radiographer as he took the pictures of Margo's chest, ''Ok, that's your first picture done''.
