"Dangit!"

Spry tossed another crumbled ball of paper into a nearby trash bin. It was currently Father's Day in Skylands, and Spry wanted to do something special for the closest thing he had to a father figure, Spyro. Unfortunately, he had come up with nothing and Spyro would be back any minute now. He got out of his chair and left his room.

Bop trudged through the halls of the Skylander Academy dorms. He was assigned to be bunkmates with Spry, and at the moment all he wanted was to go to bed after a long day of training with Bash. He was almost at his dorm room when Spry slammed the door open, hitting the small Earth dragon in the face.

"Ow! Spry, why'd you do that?" Bop exclaimed, clenching his snout.

Spry turned around to look at his bunkmate.

"Sorry Bop, I didn't see you there," Spry apologized, "I'm just mad about something."

Bop tilted his head, "What're you mad about?"

"It's Father's Day and I want to do something special for Spyro, but I can't think of anything!"

Bop was confused, "But...Spyro isn't your dad. Why would you celebrate Father's Day with him?"

Spry sighed and looked to the floor.

"It's just... I never got to celebrate Father's Day before. My parents were gone when I first hatched and I never got to find them," Spry suddenly looked up at Bop, "But Spyro's kinda like a dad, he teaches me things, he plays with me, he helps me with stuff, and he even takes me on adventures sometimes! That's what dads do, right?"

Bop scratched his head, "I guess?"

"See? That's why I want to do something for him for Father's Day!"

"Well, if you're having trouble with coming up with something, why don't you ask the other Skylanders? Maybe they'll know what to do."

Spry smiled, "That's a great idea, Bop! Thank you!"Spry yelled, immediately running out of the dorms.

Spry wandered around Skylander Academy, looking for anyone who could tell them about what they did for their dads during Father's Day, which would be difficult since most of them were off on missions. Eventually, he came across Sonic Boom, who was currently watching her hatchlings play nearby.

"Miss Sonic Boom?"

Sonic Boom turned to look at Spry, "Oh, hello dear. Do you need something?"

"Yes. Is it okay if I talk to them?" He said, pointing at the hatchlings.

Sonic Boom smiled, "Of course it's okay."

Spry ran up to the hatchlings, who stopped upon seeing the small dragon.

"Oh, hello Spry. What're you doing here?" One of them asked. He didn't actually know any of their names. Heck, he never even spoke to them until now.

"Um, I just wanted to know if you ever did anything for your dad on Father's Day?"

"Well, we don't exactly know who our dad is, and mommy won't say anything about him." One of the hatchlings answered.

"Oh, okay," Spry said. He began walking away when another hatchling immediately chimed in, "But we usually just celebrated with Mister Sunburn instead!"

"Yeah," The last hatchling began, "Every Father's Day we would-"

The hatchling suddenly disappeared, with the other three following suit. Sonic Boom walked up to Spry.

"Oh, dear, it looks like they popped back into their eggs. Sorry, hon." She said.

"It's okay, thank you for letting me talk to them!" Spry said. He flew away from the gryphon, looking to find someone else to talk to.

"When I was just a hatchling, my dad and I spread fear and terror across Skylands in the form of nightmares for those who committed unspeakable wrongdoings, forcing them to experience the grief and sorrow they brought upon others! Bringing them unease unless they repented their sins or until their untimely demise!" Blackout said, his voice growing more and more sinister and loud as he continued. Spry trembled as Blackout continued to list off the horrid things he did to people in their nightmares. Unfortunately, it was a very long list.

"Anyways, that's what I would do for Father's Day." Blackout continued, in a much calmer voice, "Well, used to. I abandoned the Dark Stygian when they succumbed to evil themselves, forcing me to fight those I once considered-"

Blackout looked down, seeing Spry cowering on the ground in fear. Blackout sighed, "Sorry, guess I got carried away. It probably wasn't very helpful, was it?"

Spry nodded. He quickly wobbled away from the Dark dragon, hoping to find a Skylander that wouldn't traumatize him for life.

"Well, I cooked breakfast in bed for my dad," Ghost Roaster replied. "Which reminds me, I gotta pay him a visit sometime."

That actually sounded like a good idea. But it was far too late to actually do something like that since it was the middle of the afternoon. Spry thanked Ghost Roaster anyways, making a mental note to remember that idea for next year.

"You could write a song for him? That's what I did for my papa when I was younger!" said Fiesta, who then played a short tune on his trumpet gun to demonstrate.

Considering the fact Spry never played an instrument or sang before, that was out of the question.

"Father's Day? I never celebrate Father's Day," Camo said, "I mean, I don't even have parents to begin with! I was literally born from a tree!"

Spry was unsure of how to respond to that.

Spry continued to ask more and more Skylanders, but unfortunately, not a lot of their answers were good or, well, possible for him to do. Spry eventually gave up, trudging back to the Academy.

Whirlwind flew towards the courtyard of the Academy, having gotten back from spending the day with her dad. She began walking up the steps to the main hall when she spotted Spry, who was currently sulking near the top of the stairs. She sat down next to him.

"Hey, kiddo. Something bothering you?"

Spry looked up at Whirlwind, sighing, "I want to do something for Spyro for Father's Day, but I don't know what!"

Spry got up, slowly walking towards the doors, his head lowered to the ground, "I guess I could just figure it out for next year."

"How about macaroni art?"

Spry's head popped back up. He turned back around to Whirlwind, "What did you say?"

Whirlwind shrugged, "Macaroni art. It's where you make a little picture using uncooked pasta and glue. I did it for my dad all the time when I was little."

Macaroni art... that was perfect! He quickly hugged Whirlwind, "Thank you thank you thank you!" Spry quickly ran off, hoping he'd be able to make it in time. Whirlwind watched as the small dragon left, and promptly returned.

"I uh, I don't actually have any macaroni or glue." He said.

Whirlwind smiled, she told Spry to follow her, and the two set off to make some macaroni art.

What a day...

Spyro thought to himself as he flew back to the academy. He had just gotten done with a patrol around a Mabu city, and the sooner he could go to bed and end the day, the better. It's not that he hated Father's Day, but having to constantly look at signs about Father's Day or watch other people celebrate the day with their dads, especially since he never got to know his parents, really soured his feelings towards the holiday. Usually, he'd spend the day with friends to distract himself, but he couldn't even do that today. Spyro finally arrived at the Academy, trudging through the main doors. He almost reached the portal to the dorms when he heard Spry yelling his name. He turned around, spotting the Mini running towards him, bits of macaroni stuck to his scales. Once Spry reached Spyro, he pulled out a piece of paper, handing it to the purple dragon.

"I made this for you! Well, Miss Whirlwind helped me make it, but still!"

Spyro looked at the paper. It was a slightly misshapen rendition of him made out of macaroni and purple glitter. There was also a small clawprint in the corner, which probably belonged to Spry.

Spyro looked back at his miniature counterpart, "Spry, why'd you make this?" Spyro asked confusedly.

"I wanted to make it for you! Y'know, for Father's Day!"

For Father's Day? He... he made this... for me? A few tears began streaming down Spyro's face. Spry frowned, worried that he'd done something wrong, but that worry was quickly pushed away when Spyro suddenly hugged Spry.

"Thanks, Spry."

You know what? Maybe this day isn't so bad after all, Spyro thought to himself.
