Hey, everybody.

So, this is an idea I conceived a short time ago and I've been thinking about. At first, it was something I just intended to keep for myself. But, eventually, I decided to go ahead and write it out and post it.

So, the concept of this is that breaches between Arda and Earth, and Valinor makes contact with the United States shortly before the War of Wrath, and the United States ends up involved in the War of Wrath. I thought it would be interesting to see. Also, to give context, this first chapter begins after the portals have already been opened. Further context will be established in this chapter. Also, time wise, this first chapter begins in early 2017, shortly after Trump's inauguration.

Let's get to it.

Chapter 1- First Contact

In the midst of Mahanaxar, the Valar have gathered for an important council.

"Alarin should be here soon with his report," Manwe declares to the assembled Valar.

"After hearing Earendil's plea, learning about this other land, and perhaps gaining their help, could be of great use to us in the coming conflict," Aule says.

All of the Valar nod, knowing that the coming days could change Arda forever.

Months earlier, the Valar had discovered that breaches between their world and another had begun to open in Arda. Nobody was yet sure as to why these breaches were opening, not even Manwe. However, a first expedition through one of the breaches revealed that they led to a land in another world, far more advanced than Middle Earth.

The Valar had decided that since the breaches were opening, they needed to make contact with this new land, as it was bound to happen sooner or later. After some consideration, they had sent a Maia named Alarin into this new land to learn as much about it as possible. Alarin had spent six months in this new land, and had finally returned to Valinor just that day to finally come to report on the land she had discovered.

"Are we sure about this?" Irmo asks.

"I believe we have no choice. Contact will be made with this land eventually, and if we wait too long, Melkor will discover the breaches himself and launch invasions of this land. We must contact them, if only to warn them," Manwe declares.

Right then, a herald at the entrance declares, "My Lords and Ladies, Alarin has arrived." A second later, Alarin walks into the Ring of Doom.

"Welcome home, Alarin," Manwe says in greeting.

"It is good to be back," Alarin says.

"Please give us your report on the land you discovered," Varda says.

Alarin nods in response before saying, "The land discovered is a country known as the United States of America, one of many countries on this world we have discovered, which is called Earth. The United States is a country known across Earth as a land of freedom. It is also the most advanced, most powerful nation on Earth."

Alarin continues her report, speaking for almost half an hour on everything she has discovered about the United States. She discusses the people, the culture, and everyday life. She discusses its economic system and government. She also goes into detail about the power of the United States military, the weapons it has at its disposal, what aircraft are and what they can do, and other things to know about the US military.

When she finally comes to the end of her report, many of the Valar are very surprised at what she has described. They had known that the nation was very different and advanced, but not to this extent.

Finally, Manwe asks the question that many of the Valar are wondering, "Do you think that the United States would be willing to ally with us in the coming war?"

"That is difficult to say. The United States have proved somewhat eager to get into wars over the last 70 years, most often in the case of defending countries from oppression. However, to get into a war on a foreign world may not be something they would be willing to do. However, at the same time, if any embassy we sent made it clear that Morgoth is a threat to them as well thanks to these breaches, I think the US would be willing to commit forces to our aid in order to defend themselves. They may attempt to set further conditions for their aid, but I believe that if we make the situation clear, they will aid us," Alarin says.

The rest of the Valar are quiet before Manwe asks, "How would you advise that we make contact with the United States?"

"In truth, I believe that one of the Valar should go. I believe that, with work, you should be able to use the breach in their capital, Washington DC, to emerge right on the yard of the White House, the home of the American President. One of thee should be able to withstand the weapons used by the guards, and secure a meeting with the President or one of his advisors," Alarin says.

The Valar sit in silence before Manwe speaks again, "I will go. I will take one of the Vanyar with me, and we will attempt to meet with the American president."

(The following day)

Everyone in the crowd that has gathered around the breach leading to Washington DC is quite silent as Manwe and Ingil, son of Ingwe, approach the breach. They are wearing their customary clothes, and Ingwe is carrying his bow and his sword. They thought this might help further sell their story to the Americans.

Many of the elevs along the way wish them good luck. Manwe and Ingil reach the breach, turn to look at everyone gathered around, before turning back to the breach and walking through it.

Instantly, they feel like they've been upended and are tumbling through time and space. Then, after only a few seconds, their vision, which went completely white when they stepped through the breach, resolidifies and they find themselves standing on the White House lawn.

The two instantly hear gaps from sightseers outside the fencer. Looking around, they take their first look at Washington DC, and are privately surprised, not having expected exactly what they're seeing.

After a few seconds, they suddenly hear, "Freeze! Hands in the air!"

Manwe and Ingil look around and see multiple men racing towards them, all holding weapons that they know are called guns.

"Get on the ground, now!" one of the men orders.

"I am Manwe, Lord of the Valar. I have come to speak to the President," Manwe says.

"Get on the ground or we will fire," one of them yells.

"I must speak to the President," Manwe says, but preparing to defend himself.

The men wait only another second before starting to fire their guns at Manwe and Ingil. However, to their shock, the bullets are incinerated as they approach, and then their guns suddenly evaporate.

The man look with shock at where their guns were seconds ago. They look up at Manwe, wondering what on Earth he is.

"We come in peace. We mean you no harm. We have come from another land and wish to speak with your President urgently," Manwe says.

The men all look at each other, feeling that if Manwe and Ingil meant them harm, they'd all be dead. Finally, the leader says, "Follow us."

Manwe nods simply, and he and Ingil follow the men into the White House. As they get through the front door, the men lead them into a large room. The leader says, "Stay here. We'll be back soon."

Manwe and Ingil nod. Ingil sits down on a couch in the room while Manwe admires the architecture of the place and the art decorating the place.

About 20 minutes later, they hear footsteps. Turning to the sound of the footsteps, the two see a man in a suit walking into the room. He looks at them and says, "Good morning gentlemen. My name is Rex Tillerson, United States Secretary of State. I am in charge of foreign affairs for the President. I was told you came from outside the United States. For security reasons, I will be meeting with you now."

"Very well," Manwe says.

"What are you two doing here, and who are you exactly?" Tillerson asks.

"I am Manwe, Lord of the Valar. This is Ingil, prince of the Vanyar Elves," Manwe introduces the two.

"Elves?" Tillerson asks in confusion. He pauses, then asks, "And what is a Valar?"

"The Valar are the great spirits sent by Eru Illuvatar to watch over the world of Arda," Manwe explains.

"In our world, some may call the Valar the gods," Ingil adds.

Tillerson raises an eyebrow. "If you want me to believe you and think you're not just insane, I'm gonna need to see some proof," he says.

Manwe pauses, then raises a hand slightly, and a fierce wind begins to blow through the room. Everything arounds them begins to shake, and Tillerson's tie blows in the wind. Then, to his surprise, Manwe changes form into an eagle and then into a ball of light before turning back into his usual form.

Tillerson stares in shock at Manwe as the wind quiets down. It takes him several moments before he is able to say, "Okay, I'm convinced you're not human at least. So, why have you come here?"

"We have come here for several reasons. We have discovered that breaches have seemingly begun opening between our world and yours. Those we have discovered so far lead to your country. The main reason we have come is because our world is about to descend into its worst war in its history, a war that threatens to spill over into your world should our enemy discover the breaches also," Manwe says.

Tillerson's eyes narrow a bit as he sits down. "Tell me more," he demands.

"As you wish," Manwe says. He and Ingil then begin to explain Arda, its history, who Morgoth is, and the conflicts with him over the ages, as well as the background behind this conflict. By the time they finish, over 40 minutes have passed.

To his credit, Tillerson has remained quiet for the most part, listening intently and only asking the occasionally clarifying question. However, when they get to the end of their explanation, including their request for an alliance with the United States and the United States to provide forces to aid them against Morgoth, Tillerson sits there for almost a full minute in silence.

"That's quite a story. It seems beyond the scale of most liars. So, I will say, as impossible as it sounds, the grandiosity of your story and the look on your faces makes me inclined to believe you may be telling the truth. However, our President will be harder to convince. We're going to need proof. I will take this story to President Trump, and ask him to send one or two people to your world to confirm your story. Once he has confirmation you are not lying, then we can begin serious discussions regarding a possible alliance. However, I will tell you now that unless your enemy does discover a breach and attempt to attack us directly, there will be little chance of the American public supporting such a large scale war," Tillerson says.

"We understand," Manwe responds.

"You've been given permission to remain here in the White House for the time being. We'll have men to watch you at all times and get you anything you need. I should have President Trump's answer for you in the morning," Tillerson says.

"Very well," Manwe says.

(The following morning)

"I have good news," Tillerson says abruptly as he walks into the room where Manwe and Ingil are waiting and reading books, trying to get some exposure to Earth culture.

"Yes?" Ingil asks.

"I have received clearance from President Trump to send people to your world. I will be going with you, along with a military officer," Tillerson says.

Manwe smiles. "Wonderful. We are ready to depart," he declares with a broad smile.

And, I'll end there.

Sorry if this chapter seemed kinda rushes, but I didn't want to go actuallyt write out their whole explanation of Arda and Morgoth.

So, next chapter will be the US embassy visiting Valinor and learning more about the situation. I'm not sure how often I will update this story, but I will try to be consistent. I will also try not to take too long before getting to the US mobilizing and starting to deploy.

Next chapter should be up within a week or so. Until it is, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
