Hey-oo my best advice for you is to try and ignore the punctuation and enjoy the story. Please leave reviews if you want, I like validation and I wanna know what you think. No pressure tho. Well...no intentional pressure. Ok, bye

Blue-birds sang from the trees and the emerald grass swayed in the breeze. The sun stood still in the sky as it smiled down at the Earth below. A perfect day. Maka grinned as she sat on her tire swing in front of her house. "Oh Maka, lunch is almost ready. Where are you silly goose?" Maka's Mom called from the porch. Maka giggled and rolled to hide in her tire swing, she can't be taken away from a perfect day if her Mom can't find her.

"Makaaaaa, here kitty kitty!" Maka's Mom sang as she tip-toed up to the tree, "Gee, I wonder where my little sunshine could possibly be? Is she…..In the tree? No. Is she….Gotcha!"

"No Mama!" Maka gasped between giggles as her mother tickled her. Maka's mom picked her up from inside the swing and fixed her pigtails that were all staticy from the tie swing.

"Come on love, you can go back outside once your belly is all full from….DING!"

"What Mama?"

DING

Huh?

"Thank you for flying Excalibur Airlines, please remember to leave a wonderful review, because we are the best, and welcome to Death City!"

Maka lifted her head from the window and rubbed her teary eyes. Wait, teary?

I hope no one saw me crying, that would be embarrassing…..

She sat up and cracked her window open, just a tad, to see what was outside. From above the city's building twinkled like multicolored stars in the night. The streets flashed with bright red and yellow lights as cars raced by. As the plane descended, the symmetrical buildings and flashy billboards became more apparent, each light presenting a unique tint to greet the plane's arrival. Maka's heart raced when she felt her stomach drop when the pilots finally touched down. Maka grabbed her backpack filled with her favorite books from under the seat in front of her and clutched onto her old things in anticipation of the new. When she got off the plane Maka noticed a tall blonde wearing all black and...an eyepatch? In the strange lady's hands was a sign that read, 'MAKA ALBARN DWMA'

"Pardon, I'm Maka. The person on your sign"

The lady seemed to snap out of her daze and turned her attention to the emerald eyes in front of her. "Yes! Maka! I was worried I had the wrong gate for a second! I can get so easily lost sometimes! Come on, let's go grab your bags love! It's late and you have orientation in the morning little miss!" The lady grabbed Maka's hand and then turned around to lead her away. After a bit she suddenly stopped and gasped, "Oh how rude of me! I'm Ms. Marie, one of the school's teachers. Yes, it's only Ms. not Mrs. with an 'r'. I'm afraid I haven't found a husband yet...Oh baggage claim...right!" Ms. Marie grabbed Maka's hand again after a quick bow and continued on her merry way. Maka took a deep breath and took all of it in. The busy airport, the scatter-brained teacher, and her new life.

I hope you're proud of me Mama.

Maka and Ms. Marie arrived at the DWMA a little after 1am. Maka's eyes were so exhausted that everything around her seemed blurry, so she didn't get a good look at the school. She remembered Ms. Marie briefly said something about her having a roommate in a few days, but for now she had the room to herself to help her settle in. Maka thanked the teacher and bowed her goodnight before flopping on her bed and drifting off to sleep.

However, Maka's shut eye didn't last long.

Even though her body felt beyond exhausted her excitement bubbled and fought her brain to stay awake. Maka sat up and dusted off her pleated blueberry skirt. Putting on her black buckled boots she decided that if her brain was going to keep her awake, she might as well do some exploring. Opening her suitcase, she rummaged around until she found….bingo! An emergency flashlight. Maka creeped up to the door and cracked it open to make sure no one was in the hall.

Room 13, nice

She grabbed her room key off of a table by the entrance and hooked the key onto her necklace before stepping out and locking the door. The walls appeared to have a maroon wallpaper with a printed floral pattern and the carpet was a color Maka couldn't quite make out in the dark. She made her way quickly to where Ms. Marie brought her in from the courtyard. Stepping outside the chilly breeze greeted the new student. Death City was known for being awake during the night, however the school's campus was quite calm. Maka wandered along a sidewalk path surrounded by thick trees. The stroll was a nice change of pace from the day's busy schedule. Crickets played their melody of the night while fireflies danced to their tune, autumn magic. Maka walked until she stumbled upon a basketball court where she spotted a person with crazy white hair playing. Maka felt enchanted by who was in front of her. The way he moved was fascinating, it appeared he was shifting to music, each of his steps followed a certain beat. Yet, he didn't have any headphones in…...was he thinking of a song in his head? As Maka got closer she could hear he was lightly humming.

Huh I guess he is thinking of a song

Maka assumed he wouldn't want someone spying on him so she squatted down behind a bush. She figured instead of leaving…. snooping with discretion is key. She leaned closer to try and figure out what he was humming, but her spy skills failed her and she fell face first into the bush and then rolled forward…...right onto the basketball court.

Great

"Hey you good?" His voice was a lot deeper and scratcher than Maka pictured, however she wasn't really in a position to judge. She lifted her face off the concrete and slowly stood up, careful not to shake her head around too much. Blinking her eyes forcefully she looked at the white haired mystery, only to be met with piercing crimson eyes looking back at her. Anything Maka planned on saying was immediately silenced by how mystical the person in front of her was. White barbaric hair; irises stained with blood; his clothes were surprisingly stylish with jeans that complimented his eyes and a blue and white baseball shirt. He wore a simple black headband to keep the hair from his eyes as he studied Maka in all her glorious silence.

"Um."

Really Maka that's the best you can do? 'Um', articulate something you idiot!

"Yeah...I think..ah...I'm ok...sorry." Maka stuttered out while trying to look at anything other than his eyes, even though that plan was ultimately failing.

"Ok? So what are you doing here?" He responded while using the basketball to tap his fingers. Maka thought it looked like he was playing a piano but she decided to not comment and focus on the task at hand. Not humiliating herself any further.

"Oh I was just taking a stroll and then I just tripped."

"You tripped from the path all the way to the Basketball court?"

"Yup."

"That's so uncool."

"HEY", Maka glared at the sporty kid, "For your information the hill right here is steep and it's really dark right now and…..I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN MYSELF TO YOU!" Maka countered angrily, the lack of sleep starting to affect her tone. The guy's eyebrows raised a little at her sudden outburst, a little surprised that she had some fight in her. Yet his expression quickly softened and he made his way to her, tossing his basketball to the side.

"Hey dumbass, chill a little." He reached out to her face and Maka tried to back away but his other arm gripped hers. Maka tried to ask what he was doing but before she could he said, "Stop squirming you have a pretty bad cut above you eye."

Maka's eyes widened as she reached up to feel what he was talking about. Sure enough right above her left eye there was a cut ranging from the side of her forehead to the tip of her eyebrow. She inspected her hand to see a reasonable amount of blood seeping from it.

"Shit," Maka said as she turned away from him to try and find where she dropped her flashlight during her tumble.

"I can help you..ya know. We can go back to my dorm if ya' want. I have some band aids and cleaning supplies there."

Normally Maka would have declined going to a strange boy's room in the middle of the night. However Maka was beyond exhausted, she couldn't find her flashlight, she didn't know the campus, and she assumed if the guy's intentions were to harm her, he would have done so already. Maka sighed and silently prayed she was making the right decision as she turned to the dude and nodded. The guy grinned and that's when Maka noticed his pointy teeth.

Nope. NOPE! I TAKE IT BACK I DON'T WANT TO GO WITH HIM! Maka internally shouted as he put his hands in his pockets and nodded at her to follow him.

"So...erm...I'm Maka Albarn."

"Cool, I'm Soul."

"Is that your full name?"

"Nah, but I have no reason to tell you my full name."

"But I told you my full name."

"Good for you."

UGHHH, what is wrong with this dude….Maka winced as his stubbornness slowly infuriated her. Does he not know basic manners? Why can't he just tell her? What is his deal? Maka winced again, this time whining a little as her head faintly pounded. She guessed he noticed her pain because he turned around and instead of amusement in his eyes, there seemed to be a little pity.

"Soul Eater. Ok? We're almost there so can you speed up a little. Ya' look like you're about to collapse and I don't feel like caring ya."

Maka glared a bit at his words but listened to him and picked up her pace. After a few more minutes she was led in front of a building that looked similar to her dorm except the numbers ranged from 50-100 instead of 1-50. Soul opened the door and scanned the area to make sure they were in the clear before letting her into the hall. Maka walked aimlessly, too exhausted and in pain to attempt to observe what was around her. Soul stopped her at room 84 and swiftly unlocked the door. The only thing Maka noticed was how the room looked surprisingly neat before she flopped down on his bed, wincing at her head hit the pillow. She closed her eyes and listened as Soul ran the skin in his bathroom and rummaged around for what she assumed was band-aids. He came back with a cold rag as he started to clean her wound. Soul gently put some ointment on it and topped that with a band-aid.

"Here take this." He said, holding out painkillers and a small cup with water. Maka sat up and took the medicine from him and swallowed it down with one gulp before her body decided it really was time for her to go to sleep. The last thing she remembered was Soul setting a blanket on her before finally losing consciousness and falling asleep.
