Author's Notes: As usual, all credit for the original story goes to the author Parsec, also known as Mark J. Hadley. This is the story of "Immortality Syndrome" first being retold from Blossom's perspective and then being altered just around the part where Blossom decides to put an end to all life and starts with her sister Buttercup, attempting to kill her so that she can finally see the "light". This will not contain as much graphic violence as the original so I lowered the "M" rating to a "T".

Chapter 1

Reborn

In the beginning, there was darkness.

And then, there was light.

A loud, violent explosion rocked a man to his very core, and then it threw him backwards straight against a wall, the result of such an explosion being a child hovering just above a bowl on top of a worktable.

The child was completely artificial and didn't look anything human, at least as far as having features like a nose, a pair of ears, fingers, or toes. Instead she resembled a living porcelain doll, with a large round head and ginormous pink eyes. She wore a matching pink dress with a horizontal black stripe in the middle, a red bow on her head that stood up like a crown, and white tights over her legs with black mary-jane shoes over her feet.

The expression on her face was completely blank and she blinked once, then twice, before completely taking in her surroundings. She was in some kind of... lab, and there was science and academia nearly everywhere. She could see beakers and chemicals on one table, with formulas and equations on another. There was research, there was theories, there was scattered papers and documents filling nearly every corner, and the whole area looked sterile, clean, and pristine. It was quite an impressive place to be experiencing her first moments of life in.

As her eyes took in everything around her, she suddenly saw a man slumped up against a wall, dressed in a simple white lab coat and solid black pants. His proportions were strictly rectangular. He didn't look conscious and the girl's eyes widened with both surprise and concern for him.

Should she go over there to check up on him or try to render him some form of aid?

Before she could formulate a possible plan of action, she saw two other little girls in the same room with her, floating the same as she was and gawking at her appearance with a clear astonishment in their eyes.

Maybe it was because they nearly looked exactly the same. They shared the same size, the same height, the same body type, and the same basic features. The only thing that was really different between them were their hairstyles and their color coding.

The girl on her left was a blonde and she mainly had blue in her eyes and her dress. The girl on her right had short black raven hair that curled up at the ends and she was mostly lime green in her color scheme.

Their shock soon turned to joy as they flew over to her in a flash and hugged her tightly from both sides, celebrating her existence for reasons yet unknown. They sure seemed glad to see her, but she hadn't the slightest idea why.

"Blossom! You're alive!" The blonde girl cried out happily.

"Oh man, I can't believe it!" The green-schemed girl similarly exclaimed. "I thought you were dead..."

None of this made sense to her. How could she have been dead if she didn't even remember previously being alive?

"Huh? What are you talking about?" The pink-eyed girl asked in confusion. "Where am I?"

The blonde one glanced at her, "The professor's lab..."

She said it like it should've been a given, but the red-haired girl was sure she had never seen this place before.

"Don't you remember what happened, Blossom?" The girl in green asked.

"Blossom?" She repeated, this being the second time the girls had referred to her as such. "Is... is that my name?"

"What do you m-…hey…" The same green girl said, suddenly seeming to realize something. "What's my name?"

'Blossom' stared at her silently for several seconds and nothing came to her brain as far as recognition. This was definitely a one-way street when it came to understanding. They certainly seemed to know a thing or two about her while she didn't know even a single iota about them.

Meanwhile, the man she had been briefly worried about before started to sit up by the wall, slowly rubbing his head. He announced himself with a groan and she quickly shifted her eyes into his direction, giving him a curious look.

"Ughh..." He blinked his eyes a few times to clear them, and then his face lit up as soon as he saw Blossom. He went on to celebrate his apparent success at whatever he had been previously doing.

"It worked! I can hardly believe it! It was a long shot, but I'm glad I took it..."

"Professor, what did you do?" The blonde one asked.

Good question, thought Blossom.

He went on to explain, climbing back to his feet, and it was a lot to take in. Like, a lot a lot. From what she could decipher, she had apparently been broken down into her base components...? Was that the stuff she was made out of? The "Professor" had apparently recreated her by mixing those components back together again with an added dose of "Chemical X", some mystery chemical she knew nothing about, and apparently that was how she ended up back... here?

It was very confusing for her, and as he kept using large words, words that she didn't fully understand with their relation to herself like "memory signatures", "genetic patterns" and so on, she took a moment to gaze around the lab, wondering if seeing anything in particular would do the trick of jumpstarting one of her apparently blocked memories.

So far nothing was working. She was just as lost now as she'd been from the start, and now she could also add discomfort on top of all that, because she was blatantly being talked about while she was still in the room.

She forced a smile at this and interjected as politely as she could, "Uh, are you guys talking about me? Can someone tell me what's going on?"

"Patience, Blossom." The man known as the 'Professor' replied with a healthy dose of that quality himself, placing his hand briefly on top of her head. Then, addressing the others, he said, "Girls, take her upstairs and show her around, would you?"

The other girls nodded, and the three of them flew upstairs, Blossom in tow as they each held her up by an arm of hers each. They both looked so vastly relieved to see her and Blossom couldn't help but think back to the Professor's last statement.

Glad to have me back? She thought bafflingly to herself. Where exactly did I go?

She decided to voice this thought out loud, and she got a sad look from both of the accompanying girls. They were still smiling at her, but their expressions held a touch of melancholy now. Blossom felt discomfited by those looks; they made her feel like she was the victim of some awful form of tragedy even though from her perspective, she had only just gotten here.

"Don't worry about it, kid." The girl in green said, briefly squeezing her hand with her words. "We're just glad to have you here."

"Yeah," The girl in blue said, also squeezing Blossom's hand. She too carried a solemn look in those large baby blue eyes of hers. "That's all that matters. That you're here with us now."

"O-Okay." Blossom replied, accepting the warmth of their hands and the reassurance of their words. They did seem to care about her and she felt safe enough in their presence but she still felt confused and she still had so many questions...
