A/N: Hello! It's good to be back!

Chapter 1

"Sorry about this." She said, pulling out a gun from her bulky black jacket. She pointed it at the cowering man on the floor bellow her. The man scurried away, backing up into some garbage bags.

"Y-you won't get away with this..." the man sputtered, "S-someone will hear. Someone will call the cops and you all will be caught!"

She lowered her gun, looking away. The man smirked. Maybe he had got her, maybe he could make a break for it as her guard was down. Then he report them or re-capture them! Bring them back to the Area-

Hysterical laughter interrupted his day dreaming. The gun woman was hunched over, laughing and laughing.

The man's smile faded quickly, he backed up more into the bags. He yelled, "W-what are you laughing at?!"

"Your thoughts!" She exclaimed, wiping tears from her eyes.

"What- HEY! Stay out of my head you crazy bitch!"

"They're so... they're so pathetic!" She bursts, "You think you have a chance of running away? Ha! I'd like to see you try, doctor."

The man looked at his only exit, the end of the alleyway. There were four- five others there at the end. No way they'd let him leave. No way he was escaping this.

"Also, thank you for reminding me about the silencer." She said cheerfully. She pulled out a long black stick-like thing from the other side of her jacket. It was hard to make out exactly what it was due to the darkness, but the man quickly recognized it as an illegal gun silencer. He broke into a cold sweat.

"Y'know doctor," she said, fiddling with the device and the gun, "ever since we broke out, I've been doing a lot of research!"

"...oh, yeah?" He said nervously.

"Yeah! You wanna know what about?"

"..."

"Who am I kidding, of course you do! I've been learning a whole lot about, drum roll please, KARMA!"

"...karma?..."

"YES! Like, you do a bad thing and have a bad thing happen to you in return or, do a good thing and have a good thing happen to you, and y'know 'everything happens for a reason' stuff like that..."

The man looked at her confused.

"So, if you steal, you can have something stolen from you- or maybe you could loose a very important object, or something else bad, or if you break the law-well-you could end up in jail or, feel overwhelming guilt for the rest of your life...

So, I was thinking, what would you get in return for being a narcissistic asshole who tortured and traumatized multiple people, just because they were a little different than everyone else, all in the name of 'science'?" She snapped. Clicks could be heard as she successfully attached the silencer to the pistol.

"Now- now- wait, h-hold on-"

"I decided, death." She snarled, clocking the gun, and immediately pulled it to the man's head and pulled the trigger. The man went limp against the trash bags, blood pouring from his head. "Yeah... not sorry."

"Leah!" A voice echoed through the alley. Leah quickly turned her head towards the alley's entrance. A large, muscular man motioned for her to come over. "Jimmy needs to tell you something!"

"Alright! Gimme a second! I need to take care of this!" She yelled back, looking back down at the lifeless body. She squatted down beside it and inspected every pocket that the man was wearing. She found cigarettes, a pen, a pack of gum, all of these she tossed to the side. She eventually came across the item she was searching for, his wallet. She pocketed the wallet as soon as she held it in her

She reached inside her jacket for some duct tape and a few trash bags. She wrapped the body to the best of her abilities, and when she was done she pushed the body up against the side of a building and buried it in trash bags. She made a bolt for the group when she was done.

"Finally, what took you so long?" The muscular man said, smiling gleefully.

"Hey, Griff if you wanna do the dirty work, I'd be happy to give the job to you."

"HA! No you wouldn't!" Griff chuckled.

"Jimmy! Jimmy what's wrong with him?" Leah exclaimed, a bit of worry in her voice.

She felt a hand on her shoulder, it was Cassy, another member of their little group of runaways.

"Nothin' Lee, go see for yourself." Cassy pointed to a red convertible car parked in the street. "He's behind that car, go talk to him!"

Cassy gave Leah a push, and without looking back, she ran to the butt of the car. Jimmy was leaning against the car, knees to his chest, cheerfully humming a tune. Leah sat beside him, waiting for him to speak.

"...I feel him." Jimmy whispered.

"You feel him? You mean-"

He nodded.

"How is he- I mean- do you know where he is?"

"He feels great...so powerful... Yes, the signal is strong enough for me to know where he is..."

"...where is he?"

Jimmy shook his head, "You'll follow me if I tell you, and I... I rather you not witness anything."

Her head hung low, "Are you sure this is it? You're so young...you're not supposed to know it yet... hell, I'm 26 and I still don't know mine. And-and Griff is 47! He doesn't know his yet either!"

Jimmy opened his eyes, they glowed in the night. He looked at Leah, "I must help him. I have to make him see. Then he will help you... this is it. This is my purpose."

Tears welled in her eyes. She knew he was right. This was his purpose, his eyes...they gave it all away. "But why... why do you have to kill yourself afterwards? Why can't you just live out the rest of your life with us? We'd still accept you, you know!"

"I know I know..." Jimmy inched closer to Leah. "Please, Leah, try to understand. If I live then the police will be looking for me and if they find me they... find you. The last thing I want is for you guys to go back to the Area..."

"I know! But... but..." she sighed, not knowing what to say. What was she supposed to say? Jimmy, her brother, her dear, sweet, young brother whom she spent years looking after, she was about to never see again. Who would she hang out with? Who would she talk too? The others wouldn't get it. They were all excited for him, happy for him for fulfilling his purpose. Leah was too, but, he was going to die. She wasn't to excited for that. He was about to sacrifice himself for the sake of their species.

"You're a hero." She said, her voice quiet and sad.

Jimmy suddenly wrapped his arms around her torso, hugging it tightly.

"You're a good big sister." He whispered.

Leah embraced the hug, quietly sobbing into his hair. "I'm gonna miss you."

"I'm gonna miss you too." Jimmy said, choking up.

"No go! Get outa here! Go do...what you have too."

Jimmy pulled away from the hug. He looked at Leah with the biggest smile on his face. "When I'm done, you know what you have to do. Don't make him forget tonight...I love you."

"I love you too."

He stood up, fixed his coat, and ran off into the night.
