"I'm pregnant."

Grissom, who was sitting at the dinning room table, had just about spit out his water as he looked at his wife with wide-eyes, in shock at hearing what she just blurted out right before they were getting ready to eat.

When he hadn't spoken for several seconds, Sara, who was sitting next to him, sniffled as she whispered. "I know we never really officially decided whether children were in our future. I also know this changes things for you." She wiped a tear away as she continued, or started to. "Or maybe it does..."

He cuts her off immediately, able to talk now as he moved forward in his chair and placed his hand on top of his wife's. "Of course this changes things, this changes everything. Did you really think I would have let you gone through this alone?"

"I don't...I don't..."

She trailed off as she shook her head, crying now, so he moved to get up from his chair before helping Sara up and bringing her in his arms while he whispered with love and devotion. "You are not alone in this, I'm with you every step of the way, you hear me?"

She nodded, sniffling again. "Yeah, and I'm sorry, Griss."

He pulls her back and cups her cheek with tears in his eyes. "Sorry, for what? You have nothing to apologize for. No, we never really made a definitive decision on having a baby or not, but it wasn't like we were really preventing it from happening either, we let fate decide for us." He then smiled as he placed his hand on her stomach. "And I guess it has finally spoken."

Before she could fully calm down, she spoke again. "But what about your job, you love..."

He cuts her off as he ran his thumb up and down her cheek. "I love you more." He took a breath before whispering softly. "And honestly, this decision should have already been made months ago, I guess a part of me was starting to feel unsure about..."

He trailed off as she looked at him in shock, seeing where he was going with his train of thought. "About us? About how I still felt about you?" When she saw sadness in his eyes, she cupped his cheek this time and spoke with love. "Oh Griss, from the moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew you were the 'one', and despite how long it took for us to get together, or whatever we've been through to get here, you're still my 'one', you always will be, that will never change. It's just that when you decided you wanted to travel for your new job after I moved back here, you looked excited, the most excitement that I have seen in your eyes in a long time, so I wanted to be supportive of your decision, like you were with mine, despite how much I knew how difficult this arrangement was going to eventually be, I just wanted you to be happy."

He sniffled as he smiled. "Right now I'm at my happiest, and I can only see it growing from here."

Sara started to smile a little wider. "Yeah?"

He nodded his eyes sparkling. "Oh yeah."

They leaned toward one anther and started kissing.

After they pulled back slowly, he brings her back in his arms, and while running his hand up and down her back, he whispered. "I love you."

She sighed in content as she fully relaxed in his arms, feeling better than she has since she first found out she was pregnant a few months ago, and she would have told him when she first found out, she just didn't want to do it over the phone.

"I love you too, Griss." She took a breath before continuing. "I have a three month check-up in a few weeks, will you be able to..."

He cuts her off as they pull back so he could cup her cheek with a determined, yet loving look. "Nothing will keep me away from being there." After she nodded with a smile, he took a breath and asked with emotion. "Three months, huh? So, does that mean you have more ultrasound pictures?"

She nodded again before moving from his arms, and while she headed towards the bedroom, he headed for the couch so he could sit down and let the fact that he was going to be a father sink in.
He knew for a long time that the only way he was ever going to be a father was to share a baby with a very special woman. He just didn't know this special woman would come later in his life and that it would take even longer to get to this point. But despite that, he couldn't be happier.

Yes, this new turn of events changes everything, but in his mind it was for the better, especially with how he was feeling lately.

He mentally shook his head when he saw Sara walk back into the room with a smile on her face, then after she sat down, she handed the two other pictures to him, and while there wasn't much to see, he knew something was there, and it made him catch his breath, caused his heart to race and his eyes to water as he whispered. "That's our baby."

She nodded with tears in her eyes as she wrapped her arm around his shoulders. "That's our baby."

He took a calming breath and shook his head. "Sara, I'm sorry, I should have been..."

She cuts him off. "It's not your fault, babe, you didn't know." She kisses his temple and whispered against it. "But you're here now, and that's what matters, ok? I know you would have been on the first plane..."

He cuts her off as he turned his head with tears in his eyes. "I hope you really believe that I would have in a heartbeat had I known."

She nodded with a smile and tears in her eyes. "I just couldn't tell you over the phone, so I'm the one that's sorry that you missed out on..."

He cuts her off again as he moved one of his hands to her stomach. "Like you said, I know now and that's what matters, and I'm not missing another milestone."

After they shared a few sweet kisses, they pulled back, and forgetting their meal for the time being, she grabbed a pillow and sets it in her lap before he lays his head down on it so he was facing her stomach, he then lifts her shirt up a little so he could place his hand on it while he spoke softly to the little one that was growing inside the love of his life, who once again changed his life forever.

A few weeks later

Sara and Grissom were in the hospital room when Sara's blond haired, brown eyed doctor walked into the room with a smile. "Good morning, Mrs. Grissom."

While in the lab they know her as 'Sidle', any personal dealings outside of the lab she was Mrs. Grissom, and very proud of it.

Sara nodded with a smile. "Good morning, Dr. Raymund. This is my husband, Dr. Gil Grissom."

Dr. Chelsea Raymund, who was in her mid 30's, smiled wider as she took the older man's hand. "Nice to finally meet you, Dr. Grissom, I've heard so much about you."

Grissom spoke with a smirk. "I hope nothing bad."

They release hands as Chelsea shook her head with a chuckle. "Only good, I assure you."

Grissom just nodded with a smile as he slipped his hand into his wife's.

After checking on Sara, Dr. Raymund smiled again. "Alright, if you'll lift up your shirt for me, please."

Once Sara did what she as told, the gel was placed on her stomach and not long after there was a sound in the room, causing Sara and Grissom to catch their breaths while Sara asked with emotion. "That's the heartbeat, isn't it?"

Dr. Raymund nodded. "It sure is mommy to be." A moment later, she continued. "And there is your baby."

Looking at the screen while continuing to hear their little one's heartbeat, Grissom lifted up his wife's hand and kissed it softly, whispering. "This is amazing, I love you so much."

She squeezed his hand lightly as she whispered. "Yes it is, I love you too."

2 Months later

Sara and Grissom were in the hospital room and Dr. Raymund had asked if they wanted to know what they were having, and since they already discussed it, they slipped their fingers through one another's with nods and smiles.

A moment later Sara's doctor smiled as she told them. "Well, mommy and daddy, it looks like you'll be proud parents to a little girl."

Grissom's emotion gets the better of him as his heart starts racing, whispering. "A little girl?"

The doctor nodded with a wider smile. "Yes, Dr. Grissom, a little girl."

Sara and Grissom look at one another with tears in their eyes as Sara whispered. "She'll be daddy's little girl."

Grissom took a calming breath before he leaned forward and they shared a soft kiss, then he whispered against her lips. "Love you, and thank you."

They pull back and she whispered with emotion. "Thank you too, and I love you."

They kiss one more time before looking at the screen, not able to take their eyes off their unborn child.

4 months later

As the months went by they got to enjoy more milestones, then before they knew it, they were in the delivery room, Sara pushing and screaming with her husband right next to her, letting her squeeze his hand as he tried to give her as much comfort as he could.

Not long after she was instructed to do one last push, they hear a baby crying in the room, and as Grissom helped his wife lean back, Sara's doctor asked Grissom. "Does daddy want to cut the umbilical cord?"

Grissom nodded with a smile as he moved forward and did what was instructed before he moved back to the head of the bed while the nurses were cleaning and measuring their little girl.

Sara and Grissom were looking at one another while holding hands when the head nurse walked up to the bed, carrying a little baby wrapped in a pink blanket. "Would mommy like to hold her little one?"

Both Sara and Grissom looked towards the nurse as they released one another's hand before Sara nodded with tears in her eyes. "Yes please."

After the baby was transferred in Sara's arms, Sara took a calming breath as she whispered. "Look at her, she's so beautiful."

Grissom sniffled before kissing her temple and whispering in return. "Yes, she is, just like her mother."

Later that night

Once Sara was settled in her recovery room, her team came to visit them, and after they left the room, little Gabby was placed in Grissom's arms so Sara could get some rest, which that's exactly what she did after they shared a kiss and said their love yous.

Grissom settles down in the chair next to his wife's bed, looks down at his little girl with tears in his eyes. "Hi Gabriel, I'm your father, and like your mother, you have changed my life forever. I'll love you for the rest of my life. I'll support you, take care of you, watch you grow as you follow whatever dream you are chasing." He leaned down and kissed her forehead, his eyes closing as more emotion came through him. "And remember, no matter what, you'll always be daddy's little girl."

6 months later

After kissing Gabby goodnight, Sara transferred her blue eyed angel into Grissom's arms, then she kissed his cheek and whispered suggestively. "I'll see you in a few minutes."

He nodded while clearing his throat. "Yes, you will."

They looked at one another for a moment before she walked out of the room while he looked down at his little girl, then he brings her up so he could kiss her forehead with a whisper. "I love you butterfly, sweet dreams." Once he placed her down in her crib and made sure she was comfortable, he headed for the door, turned the light out, made sure the nightlight came on before walking out of the room, cracking the door shut.

When he made it to the master bedroom, he opened the closed door before stopping in his tracks when he saw the candles and his wife sitting up in bed with a black nighty on with a smile on her face. He smiled in return as he walked further in the room, shutting the door behind him.

By the time Grissom reached the bed, he was in nothing but his boxers, then once he got there, he moved until he was above Sara, whispering. "I can't believe how lucky I am, I love you so much."

She cupped his cheek with emotion. "And I'm sorry it's been..."

He cuts her off with love and understanding in his eyes. "It's ok honey, we both been exhausted, this has been new territory for us, so of course there is going to be an adjustment period. We are here now."

She ran her thumb up and down his cheek. "I can't believe how lucky I am either, I love you too."

After a brief hesitation, they lean toward one another and started kissing, and since it's been awhile, they wasted no time turning up the passion, reconnecting as husband and wife.

A few hours later

When Sara woke up a few hours later, she turned around in bed with a smile, then frowned when she saw that her husband's side of the bed was empty. She tried to hear any movement from within the bathroom, but when she didn't hear anything, she grabbed her robe from the end of the bed, slipped it on before getting out of bed, then headed for the door and went right to the nursery, having a feeling that's where her husband would be.

She stopped in the doorway of the nursery when she got there and smiled as she watched her husband, who was now in sweatpants and a t-shirt, sitting in the rocking chair, holding their daughter while talking about butterflies.

A few minutes later, Grissom looked up from his daughter to see Sara standing there, and he shyly smiled. "Sorry, she was a little fussy and I didn't want her to wake you."

She just nodded in understanding while she walked into the room, and as he looked back down at their daughter, Sara couldn't help but smirk. "She certainly has her daddy wrapped around her little finger."

He sighed in content while still looking at their daughter. "Can you blame me?"

She stopped next to the rocking chair, kneeled down, and shook her head with a smile as she looked at their daughter. "No, I really can't." She leaned forward and kissed her daughter's forehead before whispering. "You are really a lucky little girl to have a father who loves you so much."

While she pulls back, he spoke with emotion. "And mother, I see how much you love her too."

Sara sniffled while she continued to look at their daughter, she just couldn't look away from her. "I didn't know I could love someone so much, outside of you of course."

"I know what you mean, I feel it too."

She turned her head to look at her husband with emotion. "Then I saw we are all lucky in many ways."

He nodded with a smile. "I would agree, Mrs. Grissom."
