Chapter 1: Sugar Rush Activities

One pleasant second Saturday of September 2021, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Hannah Mifflin's house in Fox Chapel. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. We ate cobb salad for lunch and cupcakes for dessert. "I am so happy to see you hosting this slumber party, Hannah," I stated. "I felt like I could help supervise you when you made the invitations because you are one of the clients who I have known the longest, but I have known Sarah, James, and Henri even longer." "Angel has known us since our parents got married at the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church," James stated. "Mmm, those cupcakes remind me of the wedding cake from that day, as well as the banquet that Sarah and James got honored at," Henri stated, licking his lips. "I wish that we could make even more of these delicious cupcakes because chocolate is my favorite flavor!" "That reminds me," Hannah stated. "One of my treats will be decorating cupcakes, along with making s'mores and ice cream sundaes with candy on top of them!" Henri began to drool. "We recently ate s'mores as one of our treats this past Thursday," James stated. "We also ate trail mix, trifle in individual cups, mug cakes, and cut-up vegetables," I stated. "The cut-up vegetables are my favorite because they are so healthy and they taste good," Sarah stated. "Just like the cobb salad that we are eating!" "I am practicing eating healthy foods at the condo so I can lose some weight," I explained. "Yes, the company does tend to feed us a lot of junk food," Sarah explained. "But, as much as these snacks are good, we have to learn to eat the right food, too." "We also ate some tasty meals, like pizza, BBQ on buns, and Chinese food," I continued. "They make me think of the local restaurants we have here in Pittsburgh, like How Lee and Mineo's, and even the restaurants we went to on our vacation at Bethany Beach, like Grotto's Pizza and Bootsie's BBQ, 2 really great restaurants from my childhood." "Okay, back to my party," Hannah stated. "I plan to play several great games, like the Biggest Bubble Contest, M&M Mouth, Candy Scavenger Hunt Relay Race, Candybar Race, Jelly Bean Mountain, and even making Candy Jewelry." We then headed to Target in East Liberty for everything we needed for Hannah's slumber party. Sarah and I helped shop for plain frosted vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and cleaning needles and a fishing line in addition to various candies for the activities. James helped shop for graham crackers, Kit-Kat bars, and marshmallows for s'mores, Hershey bars for the Candybar Race, and bubble gum for the Biggest Bubble Blowing Contest. Henri helped shop for chocolate and vanilla ice cream for sundaes and flour in addition to various candies for the activities. After we finished shopping at Target, Hannah told us more about her Bean Boozled taste bud test in East Liberty at 7 years old and her spa and makeovers in Lawrenceville the same year that we learned about at the middle of this past week. We also shared our favorite music of Santana on the drive from the city to Fox Chapel and back. "I didn't know that you guys liked to listen to Santana," Hannah told us. "Well, we do," I told her. "You also have a decent chance of being like my graduating class this month because of the upcoming warmth that will dominate our pattern this month." We also had a meeting at the Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville and then Game Day after the meeting with games like Work It!, Can You Do It?, Spider, and Go Through Hoops, with a few goodie bags at the end of the shift. After Game Day was over, it was time for all of us to leave. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
