No Wait, Don't go.

6 year old Cassia woke up around 4 o'clock that afternoon, tossing and turning in her bed as the rest of Fairy World was still asleep. She closed her eyes in another attempt to fall asleep, shoving the pillow on her head, but everything resulted in her sitting up in bed, wondering why she couldn't go back to sleep. She groaned as she looked out her window in hopes of some sunlight, only for the stars of last night to still be there, meaning she still had to be in bed, since she normally wasn't allowed up until 6.

After a few more attempts of trying to go back to sleep, Cassia finally gave up, pouting as she sat in the middle of her bed. If I can't sleep, then what am I supposed to do? I don't wanna wake mommy and daddy up, but I'm so bored. She thought about playing with some of the toys that housed in her closet, but remember than the floors were thin, and her parents would know if she was messing around instead of sleeping. Not to mention, some of the toys made noises themselves.

Cassia looked away from her toy chest and towards the rocking chair that her parents occasionally tell her a story in. Last night though, instead of her usual fantasy storybook, she became curious about what mom and dad did for work, and begged them to read a bit of the manual, or Da Rules, book, before she fell asleep just a few rules in. Looks like they forgot to take it back when they left the room.

Desperate for something to do (or at least make her fall back asleep), she climbed out of bed and grabbed the book, struggling a bit as the purple covers encased a large amount of big, manilla, pages, making the book much bigger than most of the books she was read to. After getting back in bed, Cassia opened the book so she could look at all the pretty pictures of the fairies that were featured in the pages. There were some being seen assigned to a godchild, and others were granting magical wishes in order to put a smile on that child's face. Cassia, though barely able to understand most of the words, found the book to be quite interesting, and kept taking a look at the pages.

Though most of the pages contained bullet points of rules and guidelines, Cassia flipped through the book and came across a large pages with bolder, much harsher title font that said, "When A Fairy Quits", making Cassia's heart drop. The picture showed a yellow taxi and two fairies, one blue and one red, entering it with rather annoyed expression on their face, as the child looking out the window was reaching out the window, begging for them to come back. Just seeing the picture almost made Cassia cry, as she put the book back where she found it.

She knew that the child in the photo was a godchild and not a fairy child, like she was, but as Cassia lied down in her bed once more, she wondered if her parents could quit being her parents if she annoyed them enough, or if something bad happened between the family. She wiped the tears off her eyes as she kept imagining her mom and dad getting in the taxi, leaving Cassia all alone in the house, without even a chance to say goodbye.

She didn't want that to happen. She didn't want any of that to happen. Cassia had decided to be on her best behavior as much as she could from now on.

If they had to leave then fine, but at the very least, Cassia didn't want to be the reason…

The majority of the week had gone soothingly just as Cassia wanted. She did her best to complete all her chores correctly and on time, and even tried to be nice to Mama Cosma when she called, despite all the nasty things she said to her.

She had been so good, her mommy and daddy each gave her a star on the rewards chart than hung on the fridge and a hug from each of them, telling her how proud they were on her. Haha..take that taxi man! You can't take my parents! I'm a good girl!

Cassia was in a pretty good mood in the late afternoon as well, having a tea party with her stuffed animals while her parents were busy cooking dinner downstairs. Both sets of grandparents were supposed to be there for a get together, and despite not wanting Cosmo's parents there, Cassia did her best not to complain. She even tidied up the living room and helped clean the kitchen before they started cooking.

"More tea, Mr. Midnight?', Cassia asked her stuffed, black cat doll, pouring some of the imaginary tea in her cup. She smiled and laughed as she kept pretended her little party, before she heard a loud crash from the kitchen, as if glass had shattered.

"Cosmo! Watch what you're doing! You need to be more careful! Here, I'll clean it.", her mother, Wanda's, voice nagged.

"I-I'm sorry honey! I didn't think my arms were that long!", her father, Cosmo's, high pitched voice whined. Wanda sighed.

"That was my favorite bowl too. You know how much it meant to me."

"W-well can't we just fix it? I mean we have magic? Why don't we just fix it?"

"Because then it's not quite the same, Cosmo!"

"What do you mean? Just put it together with your wand! Boom! Good as new!"

"Except it's not new. My grandmother didn't give this to me smashed!"

"Well, I'm sorry I'm not the most coordinated person, ok? I was just trying to stir the batter for the cake! Why did you put it there if you knew the table was going to be full?"

"I was going to put the fruit salad in that!", Wanda sighed, "You know what, it's fine. Just step aside and let me handle it."

"No! No! I got it! I just wanted to know why- WANDA! The Pot!"

Wanda cursed as she launched herself towards the stove, some of the steam overflowing the kitchen as water flowed out of it. The salmon inside the pot had now turned into a crispy black, rather than the pink color that was intended. She slammed the lid on the counter, and threw on her oven mitts, pouring out the water and salmon into the sink, turning on the garbage disposal.

"Well, looks like we're not having a main course. Can today get any worse?", Wanda groaned, leaning toward the counter where Cosmo still stirred the batter, knocking his arm over in the process.

"Hey!", he yelled, dropping the bowl, the batter pouring out, "What you do that for? Now, we're gonna have to start over!."

"Well, good luck with that! We don't have much of the ingredients left!"

"Fine then! We'll just get a pizza or something."

"Cosmo, you know we can't do that! My daddy doesn't like delivery pizza, and your mom will think we're lazy slobs!"

"She complains about us anyways! Who cares?"

"I care Cosmo! I was really hoping this would be a nice evening for all of us, but clearly it can't happen if we don't have the right stuff!"

"Fine! I'm leaving for the store then! Where's Cassia?"

"Upstairs. Why do you need her?"

"I-I just want her around ok?", Cosmo said, his face shaking a bit. Cassia frowned as she heard her name being called, along with the I'm leaving part of the argument. She quickly hid under the bed, in hopes that her father wouldn't find her and take her away from her mom.

"Cassia? Honey, are you in your room?", Cosmo asked, looking around the room, noticing lime green eyes staring from underneath. Cosmo's somewhat annoyed looked melted a bit, smiling softy, "What are you doing under there? Come on. We need to go."

"Nuh uh. You're gonna take me away.", Cassia whined, though her voice sounded like she was crying a bit.

"Well, will you at least come out from there and tell me what's wrong?"

Not wanting her father to get upset with her, Cassia slowly inched out from under the bed, her attempt to hide from him fruitless. She looked at him closely, as tears kept threatening to spill from her eyes. He still wore his same white shirt and tie, but along it, he was also wearing a green hat with a yellow stripe, and a matching green suit jacket, as if he was about to go on a trip. Cassia's tears now spilled out as she realized that it was almost the exact same outfit the male fairy was wearing in the imagine on the quitting page. Was Cosmo quitting?

"Cassia, baby, what's the matter? I..did you hear everything we said?"

"Y-yes.", Cassia said, through hiccups and cries. Cosmo knelt down to her and hugged her, holding her close to him.

"Aw, we're sorry. I promise we weren't fighting because of you. You didn't do anything wrong."

"B-but..why are you leaving? W-what did I do to make you quit? Where are you going? I don't want you to leave…"

"Honey, I just need to go to the store, and I wanted to take you with me. How else are we going to get the food we need for your grandparents?", Cosmo asked, frowning a bit, "I'm not leaving you. No one's leaving you. Why would you think that?"

"You and mommy were mad downstairs, and that book..", she pointed towards the Da Rules book, "That book said if you got angry, then you'd leave. I don't want you to leave, Daddy, but I don't wanna leave Mommy alone."

"Aww, sweetheart. No one's leaving anyone. I still love your mom very much, and would never dream of leaving you, or taking you away from her. I-It's just sometimes adults don't always agree on things either, and we lose our cool. You don't always like what your friends say right?"

"Right."

"Well, I don't always like what your mommy says, just like she doesn't always like what I say. But we still love each other, alright? But even if we didn't, we'd always love you. Neither of us would ever leave you for anything."

"P-Promise?"

"I promise, darling. Your mommy and daddy love you very much.", Cosmo said, hugging Cassia close one more time before picking her up, "Now come on, we should probably get going."
