Ponyboy can't believe it's her. He turns his head to get another glance until he hears... "Ponyboy" she squeals out like some kind of excited teenage girl at a sleepover. She runs over to hug him. He hugs her back. Until, he realizes that a lot has changed since the last time he saw her. The last time he saw her she didn't have darker hair. She wasn't wearing magenta scrubs and she didn't have her hair in a side braid and the last time he saw her. She wasn't showing up on the doorstep of his office. "Your hair" he blurts out. "I know it got harder to keep up with" she giggles. "So, why are you back in town?" Ponyboy prompts her "Thats the thing" she says in a more serious tone. Ponyboy immediately thinking money pulls out his checkbook and is about to ask her how much she needs. "Not that kind of help" Cherry states. Ponyboy starts thinking worst case scenario. "Look, My now ex-boyfriend and I got evicted" Cherry begins explaining softly. "Sorry to hear that" Pony states. "It's okay it was mostly my fault" Cherry squinted back at the memory. "Could you live with your parents?" Ponyboy asked "Still have some resentment from us dating. Cherry stated "Can I stay with you?" Cherry asked. You can tell she's desperate In her eyes. "Look, Cher" Ponyboy said. "I have a pull out couch" he said. "Just stay as long as you need" Ponyboy stated. She couldn't believe he had just called her "Cherr". He hadn't called her that since high school. In fact he was one of the first people who called her that. "I promise I will pay for my own stuff I'll even help around the house" Cherry stated. "I promise when I get back on my feet I will pay you back" Cherry promised. "It's fine" Ponyboy said.
