1. Labour of Love?

The Grid was the last place he wanted to be. After what had turned out to be a rabbit warrens of dead ends, politics and lies on the last case Harry was beginning to think he was the only one who was capable of running a Section that saw the need to share information with other areas of the Security Services. He sighed heavily, turning the computer off he pushed his chair away from the desk as he looked out over the Grid. He had sent everyone home more than an hour earlier, knowing Adam and Ros were still reeling from finding out the traitor had been in their eyeline for most of the case. Nightingale, it seemed were becoming more adept at recruiting amongst the security services. The thought made him feel sick. He shook his head slightly as he heard the side door to his office open.

"Harry."

He smiled slightly as Ruth slid the door shut behind her. She looked as exhausted as he was. "There's nothing more to be done tonight." He smiled slightly at his wife before getting to his feet. "I thought I sent you home?"

"You sent everyone home." She agreed as she picked up his coat, handing it to him.

"With you being part of that everyone I sent." He took his coat. "You didn't need to wait for me."

"I didn't want to get the bus." She explained calmly as she watched him. The case with them all going to Havensworth for the second time had taken its toll on them all, but Harry appeared to have been affected more than most. "Its raining."

"Ah." Harry shrugged his coat on. "Shall we go?"

"Good idea." She slipped her hand in his. She was relieved he seemed to have accepted the operation had come to a natural end. They had no new leads and very little evidence to work on. She turned off the light as they exited the office. It seemed that returning to Havensworth had affected Harry more than he wanted to admit.

Sleep had been easier to come by than he had thought. The incessant alarm and Ruth swearing as she located the phone woke him. He couldn't help but chuckle as he saw her grab the offending mobile.

"All we need is Gracie awake at this time of night." Ruth sighed as she checked the clock on the bedside table before answering the call. Harry's eyes settled on his own mobile that was continuing to flash and vibrate. He grabbed it, pressing the answer call as an automated voice told him that a RED FLASH was active. He answered with his call sign before hanging up. Ruth was already getting dressed. Harry yawned.

"I am getting too old for this. 3;25 am. Who commits acts of terror at this time of night?" He pulled a shirt on as Ruth called Graham to watch Nick and Gracie before they went to school. A few minutes later they were in Harry's 4x4 headed towards the Grid. Ruth stared at her tablet, reading what little they had on the cause of their rude awakenings.

"What do we know?" Harry asked as Ruth frowned.

"Not much." She frowned. "Barclay Square Holdings has been attacked - police on scene. Erin and Alec are heading there now. Same MO as the splinter group we ran into a few years ago. When I get to my desk I can cross reference the cases, see if there is anything that jumps out." She paused as he swung the car into the car park below Thames House. She shoved the tablet back in her bag as Harry turned to her.

"Gut instinct?"

"I don't know." Ruth held his gaze. "I need to clarify this."

"But?"

"Shining Dawn. This has all the earmarks of something they would do. With the protesters on the motorways and the climate protestors in the city this would be the right time for them to reactivate. If it isn't them then I wouldn't be surprised if it is some sort of splinter group." She unlocked the car door as Harry did the same. He had a feeling that if Ruth was right then there was a very real chance they had a major problem to deal with.
