After Jeff Got Home...

Author's Note: This story takes place after Jeff Tracy returned home in the Thunderbirds Are Go series finale. Thunderbirds Are Go is an ITV/Pukeko Pictures production, and absolutely NO copyright infringement is intended. Also, it's time for some much-needed changes!

It had been several weeks since Jeff Tracy was rescued from the Oort Cloud by his five sons. Being back on Tracy Island to lead International Rescue, he knew his oldest son Scott had worked so hard in his absence.

"I know he's happy not having to lead the missions anymore," Jeff said happily. "He really needs the break. In fact, all the boys desperately need a break."

He called all the boys into the study. "Boys, you've all done so well, and I think you deserve a little vacation. And you guys can start by...changing your clothes."

The five Tracy sons were perplexed. "Um, what do you mean, Dad?" asked Scott.

"Put something different on. Virgil, you know we're on a tropical island. You don't need to wear your shirt like you're going to be in a Brawny paper towel commercial."

All five boys looked at each other.

Gordon smiled. "Dad's right. I'm tired of wearing this loud tropical shirt. I'm in the mood for a t-shirt."

"There's that tank top I've been waiting to wear for a long time," Alan said gleefully.

Even John noticed his shirt. "Good grief, my shirt's also a bit on the loud side. I'm gonna get a more subdued shirt and shorts on."

In less than an hour, the five Tracy sons all looked incredibly different.

Scott smiled. "Dad, I know why you did this. Wearing the same outfits made us all think of you while you were missing. Now that you are home, we can...be ourselves a little more."

"Exactly, son. You've been through enough. Now go outside, all of you! It's a nice day to enjoy the sunshine and the beach."

"Mind if I join you boys?" asked the eldest member of the family.

Gordon looked at her in shock. "Grandma! You're wearing something other than that purple jumpsuit!"

With a smile, Sally said, "Yeah, I was stuck in the same rut with all of you. It's nice to wear a comfortable t-shirt and casual slacks which work here on the island."

Kayo, Brains, and the Mechanic also walked in, all three also looking different.

The Mechanic looked at his clothes. "At last...a tank top, shorts, and sandals. Ooohhh, I feel more loose than I have been in my entire life."

Kayo said, "Say, why don't you tell us your real name?"

He blushed as he answered. "My real name...is Francis Shackerton."

The boys all looked at him. "Francis?" they said at the same time.

"Yeah...that's why I didn't mind being called 'The Mechanic'."

Jeff shook his head. "Relax. We'll just call you Frank. Fair enough?"

"Hmm, Frank Shackerton. I like that, Mr. Tracy. And thank you for letting me help Brains with his work."

"I could always use th-the extra help," Brains said happily. "With your expertise, International Rescue will become even better than before."

Kayo laughed. "You should see what he's done to Thunderbird S. The additions are amazing!"

"Let's do that later!" yelled Alan. "Right now I want to use the swimming pool we haven't used in several years!"

John's eyes widened in shock. "Have we checked the chlorine in the pool?"

Frank laughed. "Don't worry, I'm pretty good with that. You guys go ahead to the beach. Maybe tomorrow we can actually use the pool...pending any rescues, that is."

As everyone took off for the beach, Jeff shook his head and smiled. "I sure am glad to be home."
