Chapter one

Even though Harry Potter was furious that Ron Weasley, his so called best friend, believed he entered the triwizard tournament, Harry couldn't believe how many others also thought he did. Hermione said she knew he didn't but for some reason she spent most of her time with Ron and not Harry. She told him she was trying to get him to realise the truth and if he did already know, then he had to shove his pride and apologise to Harry.

Harry was getting sick of Hermione, every time she decided to grace him with her presence all she talked about was Ron.

'Look Hermione, I don't want his name coming into any conversation, so unless there is something else you want to talk about go back to that idiot.'

'Harry, he knows the truth, he just can't admit it, he's embarrassed.'

'I don't care anymore Hermione, he's been jealous of me since we met, well I've had enough of his childish behaviour. I won't forgive him even if he apologises so just get off about him, because you're starting to piss me off as well.'

'Harry,' Hermione squeaked, 'Don't swear, I am just trying to explain.'

'I don't need you to explain how much of a bloody tosser he is, well I know and want nothing to do with him anymore. So you either talk to me about other things that don't involve a red head at all or you stay friends with him. You can't be friends with both of us, not anymore, so you need to decide,' Harry stood up from the Gryffindor table, ignored everyone as he hurried away.

'Was she on about Ron again?'

Harry glanced to his left to see Neville hurrying towards him, 'Yes, I finally told her she had to decide, him or me. I already know who she will choose,' Harry glanced around then pulled Neville into a dark deserted corner, 'I'm not that worried to tell you the truth. Hermione gets a bit much sometimes and her attitude is starting to get on my nerves.'

'I feel the same, most people only talk to her because she's your friend. But I know for a fact that most of the Gryffindor girls can't stand her. Doesn't she realise that acting like she knows better than everyone else will drive people away?'

'No, she's too thick to see that, she can't work out anything for herself unless it's written in a book. I did want to ask you a question though, but we can't be overheard.'

'Let's sneak up to the astronomy tower, it's not late.'

'You're on and it's one place I like to go when I need to think.'

'Or escape,' Neville smirked then the two boys were off running.

'Okay, what did you want to ask?'

'You know those books that are about me and that night?'

'Yeah, everyone knows them, I admit I only skimmed one though, not all three.'

'Well, I've been discreetly asking questions about that night. In first year I asked Dumbledore but he wouldn't tell me, kept saying wait until I was older. Hermione told me some things that was in them which made me more curious. Well, just after Ron and the twins took me to the Burrow, before our second year, I visited Mr. Weasley in his shed which is filled with muggle stuff. We got talking, mainly about aeroplanes and stuff like that. I casually asked him questions about my parents, what he might know of them, then I slowly started to ask about that night. He couldn't tell me much, but the few things he did tell me made me even more curious. It wasn't until the summer holidays and the last few months that I've finally got truthful and not exaggerated answers.'

'Okay, I get why you want to know, I just don't get why you didn't bother reading the books.'

'The books are mostly lies Neville, hardly anything in them is the truth or facts. First is no one apart from me and my parents were in the house that night, not until Voldemort turned up and the secret keeper who gave him permission to get past the fidelius charm.'

'Sirius Black.'

'No, see, that's what was going on last year, Sirius wasn't the secret keeper and he didn't kill those muggles. I found out the whole truth, along with Hermione, Ron, Professor Lupin and another person,' Harry sat down on the step, 'Sirius Black originally was going to be secret keeper, but after some discussions with my parents and some others they thought he would be too obvious as Voldemort would know he was my father's best friend and my godfather. So after a lot of talk they decided to give it to Peter Pettigrew, who isn't dead by the way, we saw him, he confessed to being the spy and a death eater. He was Scabbers, an animagus but never registered. We tried to tell Fudge, he refused to believe us. Snape didn't help, he convinced the minister we were confunded, he did that because Snape hated Sirius and my father. Sirius and I write to each other all the time, he's been giving me the answers I needed.'

'So why did he slash the portrait of the fat lady if he wasn't trying to kill you?'

'Scabbers, he was after the rat so he could prove to everyone he was alive.'

'Okay, how did he find out that Scabbers was Peter, all rats look the same?'

'Professor Lupin explained when he taught me to do the patronus charm. My dad, Sirius and Peter all learned to become animagus but none of them registered. Sirius used his animagus form to keep his mind and magic while in Azkaban. Fudge did an inspection and Sirius asked if he was finished with the Daily Prophet, that he missed doing the crossword puzzles,' Harry grinned as Neville chuckled.

'Great story, but I still don't get it.'

'On the front page of that paper was the picture of Ron and his family in Egypt, Scabbers was sitting on Ron's shoulder. Sirius said he stared at it for hours, he could hardly believe what he was looking at. But what clinched it for him was the fact the rat had a missing toe. When Sirius confronted Peter that night, he blasted the street, killed those muggles, cut off his finger, changed into the rat and escaped down the sewers. Sirius and Professor Lupin said they had seen Peter change hundreds of times, then the missing toe, in the same spot as the missing finger would have been. Anyway, we all ended up in the shrieking shack where Lupin and Sirius made Scabbers change back into Peter, he confessed to everything.'

'Wow, but why didn't you bring Peter to the castle?'

'Blasted Snape was one reason and well, it was the full moon. Professor Lupin had taken my map and saw Sirius' name on it, saw Peter's name on it as well. So instead of waiting for Snape to bring him the wolfsbane potion he ran to the whomping willow which has a tunnel that leads to the shack. We emerged then he turned, Sirius changed so he could protect us, Peter transformed and escaped before we could do anything. So Sirius had to escape, we helped him do that with Buckbeak the hippogriff, they flew away together and have been in hiding ever since.'

'Blimey, it's so far fetched that it has to be the truth. So you've got a godfather?'

'Yeah, he's great, but Dumbledore said I can't live with him because he's in hiding. I wouldn't care, it would still be better than the muggles. I'm planning on staying with him anyway, sneak away from the muggles.'

'After what you told me I don't blame you mate. Anyway, we started out talking about the books and the information about that night.'

'Right, I want to know how I would go about suing those authors for all the lies they printed.'

'Oh, well, I could ask Gran, I know if it's proven to be lies than you legally can sue. I'm not that knowledgeable about all that but my Gran knows the law backwards. Would the money help if you won?'

'I've got plenty, that's not why I want to do it. I found out that they lied, I hate liars, but Hermione made me realise how many people believe all that trash. If I tried to argue with her about anything written she won't believe me then ignores me. She has this weird warped belief that all books are full of real facts, especially if they are in the Hogwarts library, apart from fiction novels. It's like how she believes all adults know what's best, I know most don't and make mistakes, some mistakes are worst than others. But those books, even if they were true, I never received any money yet they are making money using my name and face. I want them to realise they can't just use me like that and think its okay.'

'They shouldn't get away with it and now that you've explained they should be made to pay. But Harry, apart from the books do you know about other things that is connected to you and you're parents?'

'What do you mean?'

Neville sighed, 'You'll be suing a lot more people once I explain,' Neville wasn't sure how Harry would take what he was about to explain, apart from being upset and angry. Neville couldn't blame Harry if he did get angry and he was willing to help his friend sue these people for as much as he can get.

'I'm not going to like this, am I?'

'No, you won't. There have been a few things, but two years after you received the scar, Harry Potter or the-boy-who lived dolls were released, for people to collect. The doll was of you as a baby with your scar. They released a second one a year before you started at Hogwarts.'

Harry's mouth fell open, 'I'm a doll, how in the bloody hell did they know what I looked like when I was ten?'

'Someone found out since it was you, I only saw it once.'

'Fucking hell,' Harry growled.

'There is more, not like the doll but other things you could buy if you couldn't afford the-boy-who-lived dolls. There were pictures and wall size posters of you, again from a baby and when you were ten. There are also pictures of you with your parents. They were released six months after you got your scar but with the information about the dolls that were being released.'

Harry sighed, 'Anything else?'

'T-shirts, they got the idea from the muggle world. But they only printed the picture of you as a baby, with the scar. I admit I was given a t-shirt when I was five, I wore it out.'

'You said you saw the dolls, who had them?'

'I know a lot of young girls had their parents buy them. Not the Slytherin's of course, or those pure-bloods that followed you-know-who.'

'So you don't actually know who has them?'

'Susan Bones and Hannah Abbott both have them. I recently found out that Ginny Weasley has one. I asked Ron how they could afford it as the dolls were five hundred galleons each as they were limited numbers and considered a collectors item. I think they only released one thousand. I would say half the girls our age or a little older would have at least one doll, a poster, picture or t-shirt.'

'If you're Gran can help with some information do you think she would help in other ways? I have no one who can help me with this, Sirius can't even though I know he would.'

'Gran will, I remember that she hated those dolls, but I never knew why. She actually tried to take the t-shirt and throw it out,' Neville shrugged, 'I cried so she allowed me to keep it.'

'You didn't know Neville, you were a small kid. I wonder why Ron never told me Ginny had one and how could they afford it. I'm usually careful showing Ron or the Weasley's that I have money, they get uncomfortable about it.'

'Ron said Ginny begged her mother to ask her aunt, that she would work the money off. It seems the aunt is pretty rich, but she's mean. She said she would lend the money to Ginny but wanted not only Ginny to do some work for her but all the Weasley kids, along with Arthur Weasley. Being the only girl after six boys they gave in and did the work, three months work which if you had to pay for all that and the amount of people would have cost three times what the doll was worth. She took advantage of a little girls wish.'

'I've heard Ron mention an aunt that was a bitch, it's probably her.'

'Probably, so you want to work on the letter for Gran?'

'Yeah, I would, thanks Neville.'

Harry and Neville headed back to Gryffindor tower, they ignored everyone just headed to their dorm room. Harry decided to sit on Neville's bed with him while they wrote the letter. He sat crossed legged at one end while Neville sat at the other. Neville explained to Harry how he should address a letter to someone like Lady Augusta Longbottom then Harry basically asked what he could do and if she could advise him as he had no other adult he could trust. Once the letter was done the two boys, again ignoring everyone, left Gryffindor tower, pulled the cloak over themselves and headed to the owlery where Hedwig instantly flew down to Harry.

Harry and Neville got back to the tower without any teachers finding out they had been out after curfew. Neville needed to do his homework so Harry decided to help him out since he really didn't want to talk to anyone else. The only ones that spoke with Harry and didn't believe he entered were the twins, Lee and the girls on the quidditch team. But they knew not to talk about Ron or anyone else that thought Harry entered the triwizard tournament.
