The Adventures of Anna Stoppable: The Red Shoes

Disclaimer: All the KP characters belong to Disney. The OCs, including Anna Stoppable, are of my own creation.

A/N: I decided to write an Anna Stoppable story partially inspired by the fairytale, The Red Shoes, by Hans Christian Andersen.

It was April 1st, 2006 at 3:35 pm as Kim and Ron Stoppable arrived at the front of the Henry Hudson Preparatory School in the Sloth to pick up their adopted daughter, Anna Christiansen-Stoppable.

Just then, Kim and Ron noticed Anna walking out the front door of the school with a big smile on her face.

Anna climbed into the back of the Sloth before Kim put the Sloth in drive and drove away from the school.

"Thanks for picking me up," Anna said to her parents.

"You are very welcome, Anna," Kim said with a smile. She then asked. "So, how did auditions go?"

"I got it, Mom!" Anna replied, happily. "I got the lead role of Karen Andersen in, The Red Shoes!"

"That's great!" Kim said in excitement. "And I think it's really sweet that you were asked to audition for the lead role of Karen."

"I've always been asked to audition to play a character in a play where tap dancing is required," Anna pointed out.

"And I take it that once again, you will be cooped up in your dance studio rehearsing?" Ron asked.

Anna nodded, "Yup."

"Just don't forget to do your homework and take breaks in between tapping," Kim reminded.

"Don't worry, Mom," Anna assured. "I never forget to do any of those things."

"I just wanted to remind you," Kim said. "I am your mother after all."

"And a wonderful mother you are," Anna commented.

"Am I a wonderful father?" Ron asked.

"Of course, you are, Dad," Anna replied.

One month later, on May 2nd at 6:29 pm, Kim; Ron; Ron's parents, Glenn and Jenn Stoppable; Ron's adopted sister, Hana; and Anna's best friend/honorary sister/tap dance student, Ellie Kelly, were sitting in the auditorium of the Henry Hudson Preparatory School. Tonight was the night of the play, The Red Shoes.

"I wonder how Anna will do tonight," Ron said to Kim.

"I bet she will do great," Kim said as she was holding a bouquet of flowers in her hands.

"It's always nice to see a play our adopted-granddaughter is starring in," Ron's father, Glenn, spoke up.

"Especially one that I once starred in when I was her age," Jenn added. "I too had the role of, Karen."

"Anna, tap dance!" Hana, who was in Jenn's arms, cheered.

"I bet Anna will do great!" Ellie added.

Just then, the lights dimmed, before the curtain opened and the play began.

A couple hours later, at 8:30 pm, the play ended and the curtain closed as the audience gave a round of applause. The curtain then opened again, revealing all the people that starred in the play with Anna in the middle. They all gave bows before the curtain closed, again.

A couple minutes later, Kim, Ron, Glenn, Jenn (with Hana in her arms), Ellie and the rest of the audience went into the nearby dining hall to meet up with all those involved in the play.

The Stoppables and Ellie then saw Anna, wearing a white long-sleeve collared shirt, dark blue sweater, grey skirt, black tights, black Mary Jane shoes, and a gold-yellow bow tied in a knot holding her hair back in a ponytail. In her left hand, she was holding a pair of red 2-inch heel tap shoes. In her right hand, was a bag containing the clothes she had on before the play.

"Way to go, AC!" Ron said in excitement.

"Great job, Anna!" Kim added before she handed Anna the bouquet of flowers.

Anna took the bouquet of flowers into her hands before her parents hugged her.

"Thank you, guys!" Anna said, happily.

After Kim and Ron broke the hug, Ellie walked up.

"Awesome job," Ellie commented, happily.

"Thanks, Ellie," Anna happily said.

Glenn and Jenn (with Hana in her arms) walked up.

"That was great, Anna!" Glenn commented with a smile.

"We are so proud of you!" Jenn added with a smile.

"Great tap dancing!" Hana cheered while clapping her hands.

"Thanks guys," Anna said, appreciating her grandma, grandpa, and Hana's thanks.

"You're welcome, Anna," Glenn said.

Kim then spoke, "Now, you better change out of your costume before we head on home."

"There's no need," Anna said, confusing Kim and the others.

"What do you mean?" Kim asked.

"They want me to keep the costume," Anna replied. She then showed the red tap shoes. "As well as the red shoes."

"Won't they need those things for future plays of, The Red Shoes?" Ron chimed in.

"This is the last time they'll be playing that play," Anna said. "For now, anyways. So, they allowed me to keep the outfit and tap shoes."

"That's great they let you keep the outfit and tap shoes," Kim commented. "Now, let's head on home."

Later, at 9:00 pm, Anna entered her bedroom with a huge smile on her face.

Just as she set the bag of clothes she wore before the play on her bed, she noticed two German Shepherds sleeping together, it was Ike and Mamie.

"I better be quiet when getting ready for bed," Anna thought. "I don't wanna disturb them."

She then placed her tap shoes on the floor to the left of her bed before she went to her clothes drawer, quietly opened it, picked out her pajamas, closed the drawer, and walked off and into the bathroom.

Later, at 9:30 pm, Anna emerged from the bathroom wearing her pajamas and holding her play clothes in her arms. She then set the play clothes on her bed before walking around the bed to the closet. She then opened the closet and picked out a few clothes hangers before using them to hang up the clothes Anna wore before and during the play.

After hanging her clothes, she shut her closet door before walking over to the lamp on the nightstand to the right of her bed and turned it on before making her way to the light switch next to her main bedroom door and shutting off the bedroom lights.

She then walked back to her bed and climbed into it.

Before she turned off her lamp on the nightstand it was on, she looked at Ike and Mamie.

"Good night, Ike and Mamie," Anna whispered.

With that, she shut off her lamp and fell asleep with a huge smile on her face.

The next morning, at 7:00 am, Anna woke up to her alarm clock.

She then shut her alarm off and climbed out of bed and noticed Ike and Mamie were not in their bed.

"They must be downstairs," Anna thought. "Now, to take a shower."

She then walked over to her bathroom and shut the door behind her.

Later, at 7:30 am, she walked out of the bathroom wrapped in towels.

She then noticed the red tap shoes.

"I don't know why, but something about them is making me want to dance in them," Anna thought. She then walked over to her closet, opened it, and looked at the costume she wore last night. "I think I'll wear my play clothes today."

She then proceeded to change into the outfit she wore during the play last night.

A couple minutes later, Anna made her way downstairs to the dining room table and met up with Kim and Ron.

"Morning," Anna said with a wave.

"Morning, Anna," Kim waved back.

"Morning, AC," Ron added with a wave.

Ike and Mamie then came walking up.

Anna got down and petting the two German Shepherds.

"Morning, Ike and Mamie," Anna cooed.

Kim and Ron soon noticed what Anna was wearing.

"Anna, did you decide to wear your play clothes instead of the usual school uniform?" Kim asked.

Anna stood up and answered, "Yes. You don't mind, do you?"

Kim shook her head, "No, of course not."

"You are a beautiful baby girl no matter what you wear, AC," Ron commented.

Anna smiled, "Thanks, guys."

She then sat down at the table with a plate of pancakes and bacon on it.

"Are you going to be tapping in your new tap shoes?" Kim asked.

"Yes, I am," Anna replied. "I just need to get breakfast done first."

She then started digging into her breakfast.

Kim and Ron looked at each other awkwardly and turned back to see that Anna has finished her breakfast.

"Done," Anna announced before she stood up from her seat. "Now, to go tap."

Kim soon thought of something and asked, "Do you wanna go to the park and you can tap there?"

Anna smiled, "That sounds great!"

"We'll go to the park in a little over an hour," Kim announced.

Anna nodded, "Fair enough. Now, I'm gonna go dance until then."

Before Kim could say anything, Anna ran on over to the stairs then up them, leaving Kim and Ron with confused looks on their faces.

Later, at 9:00 am, the Stoppables, along with Ike and Mamie arrived at the park before Anna set up a tap dance board next to a bench.

"Your father and I will take Ike and Mamie for a walk around the park," Kim said. "You be a good girl now."

"As always," Anna said before she sat down on the bench and started strapping on the red tap shoes.

"Good," Kim said.

With that, Kim and Ron walked away with Ike and Mamie before Anna finished strapping on the shoes and stepped onto the tap board soon after.

Anna soon had a strange feeling and thought, "That's funny, I feel like these shoes want me to dance more and more."

Nevertheless, she started tap dancing.

Just minutes into the dance, an man with a red beard, blue eyes, and fair skin and wearing a white collared shirt, blue jeans, brown Loafers, and a U.S. Army cap. He was also accompanied by a woman with red hair, green eyes, and fair skin, and was wearing a yellow sundress and brown shoes.

Anna stopped dancing and waved, "Hello, how are you today?"

"We're doing great," The man answered. He then noticed what Anna was wearing on her feet. "Oh, what beautiful shoes for dancing." He then spoke to the shoes. "Never come off when you dance."

"They are fit for a princess," The woman added.

The couple then walked off, leaving Anna confused.

"Did they just say…?" Anna thought. She then shook her head. "Nah, probably just a coincidence."

Anna then felt her feet want to move before she resumed tap dancing.

It was 10:00 am as Anna was still tap dancing, it's been an hour since arriving at the park and she's been tapping non-stop ever since.

Just then, Kim and Ron walked up with Ike and Mamie.

"Hey, guys," Anna waved before she stopped tapping.

"Did, AC, enjoy a great dance?" Ron asked.

"She did," Anna said with a nod. "I don't know why, but I've felt like these shoes were made for me."

Kim chuckled, "Anna, you always say that every time you get a new pair of tap shoes."

Anna nodded, "I know. But this time may be different."

Kim and Ron turned towards each other.

"You don't think…" Ron spoke.

"The shoes are cursed?" Kim added.

Anna chuckled, "Mom, how would these shoes be really cursed? I wore them in the play last night and they didn't come to life."

Kim and Ron turned back towards Anna.

"That's true," Kim agreed. "It's probably just my Mommy senses going off pre-maturely."

"It happens," Anna said. She then spoke. "I've never have had so much fun in my life! I wanna stay here longer and enjoy tapping on this nice day!"

"Will you be okay by yourself?" Kim asked.

"I'll be fine," Anna assured. "I am capable of defending myself if I come under attack."

Kim nodded, "Okay, your father and I will see you in a little over an hour."

Anna waved, "Bye guys."

With that, Kim, Ron, Ike, and Mamie walked out of the park as Anna started tap dancing, again.

It was 11:00 am as Anna was still tap dancing. It's been an hour since Kim, Ron, Ike, and Mamie left the park and, like the hour before, Anna's been tapping nonstop.

She then stopped tap dancing.

"I need a break," Anna thought to herself. She then sat down on the bench and took some breaths before looking down at her shoes. "Perhaps I should call it a day now."

She then reached down to unbuckle her right shoe.

But when she tried to unbuckle it…

"That's weird; it won't unbuckle," Anna thought. She then tried unbuckling her left shoe. "What gives?"

She then stood up from the bench when suddenly, her shoes began dancing on their own and towards the nearest entryway into the park.

"Oh no!" Anna said, aloud. "They really are cursed!"

The shoes then took her onto the sidewalk and up a street leading Northward.

She tried to unbuckle her shoes, again. But to no avail.

She then grabbed hold of a lamp post, but her feet continued dancing.

Soon, Anna was forced to let go and the shoes continued dancing their way up the sidewalk.

"Help!" Anna screamed.

Suddenly, two pairs of arms, belonging to Kim and Ron, appeared from behind and grabbed Anna's arms.

"We got you, AC," Ron said as he and Kim held Anna.

"Dad? Mom?" Anna asked.

"What's wrong with you, Anna?" Kim asked.

"You have the worst case of tap dance fever yet," Ron added.

"It's the shoes," Anna said. "I think they really are cursed."

Kim got Wade on the Kimmunicator.

"What up, Kim?" Wade answered.

"Wade, we have a problem," Kim announced. "Anna's dancing like crazy and we need to have her shoes analyzed."

"Her shoes?"

"Long story."

"I'll contact Global Justice," Wade announced as he typed a few keys on his computer. "Perhaps they can figure out what's wrong."

Later, Anna was inside a lab strapped to a table by her wrists and ankles while her feet continued to move. For some time, scientists have been studying the shoes and trying to figure how they have a mind of their own and how to get them off.

Just then, a GJ scientist came into the room with Kim, Ron, and an elderly male pastor.

"Did you find out why the tap shoes have been making me tap a lot?" Anna asked.

The scientist nodded, "Yes. When I saw the shoes, I immediately recognized them."

"You've seen them before?" Anna asked.

"I have," The scientist said with a nod. "They once belonged to a girl your age by the name of Karen Andersen. She and I went to the same church and the pastor with me happens to be the pastor of that same church me and Karen attended every Sunday."

"I also have to ability to sense spirits," The pastor added.

Anna turned to the pastor, "Could it be that these shoes are possessed by some spirit?"

The pastor nodded, "Yes. Karen used to be a tap dancer like you. One day, Karen's foster mother bought these shoes at a thrift store. Karen loved the shoes so much she wore them and danced in them almost all the time and almost everywhere. But one day, Karen was killed by an oncoming train while dancing on a train bridge and she was never seen, again. The only thing that was recovered was her red shoes."

"How are these shoes possessed by Karen's spirit?" Anna asked.

"It's possible that she loved her shoes so much that after she died, her spirit became attached to them," The pastor replied.

"So that's why the shoes are haunted," Anna said in realization. She then turned to the scientist and asked. "So, how are you and the other GJ scientists gonna get the shoes off?"

The scientist sighed, "After some discussion, it's become clear that the only way to get your shoes off is to amputate your feet."

Anna gasped, "If you do that, I'll never be able to tap dance, again!"

The scientist sighed, "My apologies Anna, but I'm afraid it's the only way for you to avoid dancing against your will."

"It's for the best, Anna," Kim spoke up.

"We can't have you tapping 24/7," Ron added.

"You must be free of these shoes," The pastor added.

Anna started tearing up, "Tap dancing is my life! I wanna grow up to become a professional tap dancer!"

"I know it's hard," The scientist spoke up. "But I'm sure you'll find other good careers to pursue."

"I love tap!" Anna argued.

Just then, another scientist came in holding an axe.

The first scientist then pulled out a mask attached to an anesthesia tank and said, "Well, Anna, this is where you say goodbye to tap dancing forever."

The first scientist then held out the mask towards Anna.

"No! No! No!" Anna screamed as she tried to break free of her restraints, but to no avail.

The first scientist then put the mask on Anna as she screamed.

Anna bolted upright from her bed in her bedroom screaming and soaked in cold sweat.

Just then, the light in the bedroom flipped on as Kim and Ron came running into the bedroom.

"Anna!" Kim gasped.

"AC!" Ron added.

"Mom! Dad!" Anna screamed. "Don't let them chop off my feet!"

"What's going on?" Kim asked.

"No one's gonna chop off your feet," Ron added.

Anna took a deep breath before she spoke, "I had a nightmare partially reminiscent to the play I was in."

"That your red shoes came to life and made you dance against your will?" Kim asked.

"And had to have your feet cut off?" Ron added.

"Exactly," Anna replied to both questions. She then shook her head. "I don't want to wear the red tap shoes, again; I'm now afraid they really are cursed. And if I have to get my feet amputated, I won't be able to tap, again."

"Anna it's okay," Kim assured. "If it comes to that, GJ can make it so you can keep on tapping. I mean, GJ was the one that enabled Felix to be able to walk."

Anna nodded, "That's true."

"Now," Kim spoke. "Please try and get some sleep; tomorrow we'll have the shoes checked to make sure they aren't cursed."

Anna nodded, "Okay, Mom."

"That's my girl," Kim and Ron said in unison, not calling a jinx.

With that, Kim and Ron walked out of the bedroom and closed the door behind them.

Anna then looked down to where she set her red tap shoes down and noticed they were missing.

"That's funny," Anna thought. She then noticed that Ike and Mamie weren't in the bedroom. "Where did Ike and Mamie go?"

Anna then climbed out of bed and looked down to notice that she had wooden feet instead of her regular feet.

"Where are my real feet?" She thought.

Suddenly, she heard the sound of tap dancing coming from her studio.

Anna turned towards the door to her dance studio as it suddenly opened, revealing her red tap shoes tap dancing on their own with her real feet in them!

She gasped in horror.

Anna gasped as she bolted upright from bed and turned on the lamp on her nightstand.

She then looked to her left and noticed it was 3:00 am on her alarm clock.

"3:00 am," She thought.

Anna then turned to her right and noticed the red tap shoes were exactly as she left them before she went to bed. She also noticed Ike and Mamie still asleep in their dog bed. Anna then climbed out of bed and noticed her feet were back to normal.

She then picked up the red tap shoes, walked around the bed to the closet, opened the door, and put the red tap shoes into it and behind everything.

"I'm never wearing those tap shoes ever again," Anna thought as she quietly closed the closet door.

She then climbed back into her bed and closed her eyes.

"For now anyways," Anna thought before she drifted off to sleep.

The End

A/N: Will Anna ever wear red tap shoes, again?

Uncertain.

The story doesn't match the original fairy tale entirely, but it does have some elements from the original fairy tale.

Also, there have been multiple adaptations of the fairy tale.

I hope you enjoyed my Anna Stoppable story adaptation of, "The Red Shoes".
