Song: So sad, so sad by Varsity.

"So sad, so sad, I could never make you stay" the song was blasting from Emmet's speakers, while a load of negative thoughts stormed inside his head. Why did Callahan do that? How could he not see Elle's potential? He could not find an answer to his questions, he just wanted the blonde back, but she would never listen to him. I mean, why would she? He was just a random unconfident and poor guy who befriended her, while she was a smart, confident, incredible and amazingly beautiful woman. She was, of course, perfect, inside and out. The woman of his dreams. But she was going back to California, and he couldn't stop her, he could never make her stay.

He was such a coward. Elle was leaving behind all she fought hard for, including Warner (he did not like to think about that guy, Elle deserves someone better and he was sure she knew that), because some dumbass professor hit on her, she was so much better than this and she knew it, she had to. He wanted to see her happy, even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness for it. But he realized something that made him feel worse: the last memory he had of her was her eyes puffed and red from crying, and she feeling worthless as a lawyer and as a person.

"Too bad, too bad, I could never walk away" but what was he doing by just mourning? He could not just give up on Elle, and she couldn't give up on herself either. He thought on calling her and telling her he loves her, but she probably would not answer the call and if she did, he would be rejected, of course, and he wanted to keep her even if it was as a friend. And also, what kind of best friend would he be if he just walked away and never talk to her again? Too bad, he could not walk away from Elle. "What I need" he thought, "is to get to work", as he chuckled remembering when he first met her. That's it, he had a plan. He just needed to call Vivienne.

"Hello, Emmett?" he heard the brunette's voice from the phone.

"Vivienne, I need your help." Twigging his voice was a little weird from crying, he hawked and talked to her on a clearer tone. "I need your help to get Elle to stay in Boston."

"What, she is leaving? I didn't think she would go so far as this."

"Wait, do you know what happened?"

"Yes, I saw it. Warner saw it too."

"And he didn't do anything? What's wrong with him?" Emmet said in disbelief.

"He also called her a Marilyn, that son of a bitch." He could sense the anger in her voice. "I broke up with him."

"Wow, I'm kinda surprised, and also glad you did. Definitely dodged a bullet."

"You're right, but let's talk about Elle now. What do you have in mind?"
