Chapter 50: All my Regrets, All my Tomorrows

"Now fall down and die!" No-Heart watched Flash Heart fall away to the ground.

"Now we finish this!" Love Heart dove down towards No-Heart, conjuring a sword in each hand and drawing them to each side as lightning danced across them, "Lightning Cross!" he struck both swords at the torso, leaving shallow furrows as he flew past

No-Heart growled and formed a sword of black ice in the hands of Soul Heart's body. "I will end you and the entire Care Bear Family with my power alone!" He flew at Love Heart and swung at his neck.

Love Heart flew straight up to dodge and swung his sword in a long arc, sending a beam of blue lightning down at the flesh golem bear. No-Heart didn't even try to dodge and just barreled through the wave and shot the arm forwards, sending a barrage of ice shards up at Love Heart. A sphere of wind formed around Love Heart which deflected most of the shards, but several still pierced through into him and melted, leaving his front flecked with blood.

As they flew level with to top of the tallest buildings in the city, a news chopper flew close enough to watch the mid-air battle unfold. "This is life right?" the pilot asked.

"You bet, this is breaking news!" The cameraman said.

"That body isn't yours!" Love Heart dodged aside in mid-air to avoid a rising slash from No-Heart's black-ice sword.

"This body has always been mine!" No-Heart tried to chop down, only to be blocked by Love Heart's swords in a cross. "Ever since I created this body to be my weapon I have owned it, and the soul fragments that occupy it to give it life!"

"She has a real soul!" Love Heart dropped and flew up behind No-Heart, slashing through the cape and into the golem's back, "I know because I made it!" His swords were still wreathed in lightning as he struck at No-Heart's back, only for No-Heart to spin around and slice at Love Heart. He managed to dodge back but still got a shallow cut across his chest and the skin around the cut began to feel numb. "I only wish I'd known sooner," Love Heart flew backwards away from No-Heart, sheathing his swords.

"It makes no difference!" No-Heart threw his sword at Love Heart, then shot a blast of purple lightning at it. "You and your family will end today and I will rule this world!" The sword shattered and the black ice fragments peppered Love Heart's front.

Love Heart cried out in pain as the black ice didn't melt but stuck in him. Water wreathed his left hand as he swept it over the injuries, pushing the ice out and healing the punctures.

No-Heart's eyes blazed blood red, "How can you do that?!"

"I needed an edge to beat you," Love Heart enlarged the water around his hand into a sphere as lightning coursed around his right, "So take it! Charged Water Lance!" Love Heart brought his hands together and fired off a stream of electrified water.

No-Heart formed a wall of ice in mid-air but the electrified water just plowed right through it and into him, sending electric shocks coursing around his body where the water clung. "This is an annoyance at best!" No-Heart shouted as he forced the water off his body, only to be struck by another charged water lance. He was forced to endure the force and shock of the blast until Love Heart let up.

"I will not be beaten by the like of you, Care Bear!" No-Heart conjured a black ice sword and flew right at Love Heart, who drew both his swords to intercept the first blow.

The news chopper was having trouble following the battle as Love Heart and No-Heart in Soul Heart's body dove, pulled back and slashed at each other back and forth across the sky.

Love Heart managed to score several hits with his electrified swords, making shallow cuts into the flesh-golem body. No-Heart didn't even try to block but found his black ice sword deflected at almost every turn. "Hold still!"

"Make me!" Love Heart flew back to avoid a sideways slash from the black ice then charged his right hand sword with lightning. No-Heart charged again and swung down, only to be blocked by Love Heart's left sword as the lightning around his right sword lit up and turned into strings of purple plasma. With a cry of rage, he plunged the weapon into No-Heart's stomach, but the blade stopped after the tip had barely punctured the surface.

No-Heart let out a cry of rage and let out a blast of purple lightning from his free hand right in Love Heart's face. Love Heart dropped his swords (which dissolved as they fell) and his hands flew up to cover his face as he flew backwards on pure reflex, avoiding an attack while he healed the electric burns on his face.

Once he could see again, Love Heart was on the defensive as No-Heart began hurling shards of black ice and purple lightning bolts at him. Love Heart threw up walls of wind to push the ice shards off course and dodged around as best he could. "Gotta hit him somehow." He clenched his right hand as lightning condensed into a small ball of plasma in his right hand.

Finally, No-Heart's barrage let up for a second and Love Heart hurled the plasma ball at him, "Plasma orb!"

The ball moved too slow for No-Heart not to dodge, and even then just barely as a few strings of plasma raked across his body. Love Heart had to react fast and dissipated the ball before it struck anything, nearly catching the news chopper with a string of energy. "Shit! Can't do that here," he cursed to himself. "Up close it is," Love Heart created swords made entirely of water in both his hands and charged them with electricity before No-Heart could begin another barrage then charged at him.

No-Heart was too startled to react as Love Heart sliced the two electrified water swords right through him, though they only passed over the surface of his skin he could feel the impact of the densely packed water and the surge of electricity course though his stolen body. He spun around and unleased a crescent of black ice at Love Heart, only for the bear to fly up and over it then come around for another pass, striking through him again.

Love Heart had to dodge and weave around the purple lightning and black ice that No-Heart continually sent his way. In the midst of his attacks he wondered why No-Heart wasn't trying to use the nearby news chopper as a hostage to force him to take blows, and could only conclude that his rage and hatred of the Care Bears blinded him to such devious tactics.

No-Heart finally blocked a blow from the electrified water swords and held Love Heart in place with his own black ice sword. "You can't win. This body may be damaged but it will never tire or run out of energy as long as I'm in control!" Soul Heart's body began to surge with lightning as No-Heart put on an evil grin.

"As long as you're in control…!" Love Heart's eyes widened, then his expression tightened. "Then maybe you need to lose control." Love Heart took a deep breath as pulled back, letting the electrified water swords fall away.

"Soul Heart! I…forgive you."

"What?!" No-Heart stared at him.

"It wasn't your fault what happened, you were under his control. I forgive you for destroying my home and for everything that No-Heart made you do to us and to your family. They all want you back and no-one blames you for what you've done." Love Heart stared No-Heart down.

No-Heart's red eyes flashed, "You really think she cares if you forgive her? Her spirit is… is…" His eyes dulled for a moment, to be replaced with soft brown ones a moment later, then the body spoke in a gentler, feminine voice.

"Do you really mean that?" It was Soul Heart, the real Soul Heart.

Love Heart smiled, "Yes. I forgive you."

"Love Heart… I… aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Soul Heart clutched her forehead as the body's eyes became red again.

"STAY OUT OF THIS! THIS IS MY BODY! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN MINE!"

"No!" the eyes were brown again, "I won't let you hurt anyone else!"

Red again, "YOU CAN NOT 'LET ME' OR PREVENT ME FROM DOING ANYTHING!" No-Heart's gaze turned downwards just in time to see Flash and Indy disintegrate Blade Star and Confidence Heart punch Shatter Heart's head off. "MY GREATEST CREATIONS!"

Brown again, "They were monsters, as bad as you!" Soul Heart grabbed her own arms and turned to Love Heart, "Hurry! Kill me!"

"WHAT!?"

"I Can't hold him in for long, please! Love Heart! End this before I lose control aaaa- NOOOOOO! I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED HERE!"

Love Heart took a deep breath and brought his hands together, a sword of pure purple plasma energy forming in his hands. "I understand," he was starting to cry but held it in, "I'm sorry."

"NOOO!" No-Heart tried to fly at Love Heart, but was stopped when Soul Heart seized control again. "Do it! Hurry!"

Love Heart held the blade over his head as he poured magic into it, the blade growing to over ten meters in length.

Everyone turned skywards at the bright blade caught their attention and even Confidence Heart had to shield her eyes as she was flying up from her victory over Shatter Heart.

Love Heart watching Soul Heart, one eye brown and the other red, and closed his eyes, now blurry with tears. "I'm sorry…" He swung.

"PLASMETIC! SLASH!"

The blade swung down and struck Soul Heart in the middle of her head.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

"EYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

No-Heart and Soul Heart's screams of pain rent the air as Love Heart drove the brilliant purple blade down through the golem's body, fighting every step of the way against the durability and his own reluctance to do this. Everyone, human and Care Bear, was riveted to the spot, even the news crews and recently arrived police couldn't help but watch even if they didn't have cameras. The Shadow Magi all crying over what was happening to their mother but knowing it had to be done.

Love Heart finished driving the blade through the body and let it dissipate with a loud buzz and a crackle, then looked up to see the results. Soul Heart's bodysuit had been completely burned away and most of her body was scorched black, only her arms and the outer edges of her legs still retained their purple coloration. Her eyes were blank white orbs as she leaned her head back and gasped. Black smoke poured forth from Soul Heart's mouth as she finally started to fall towards the ground.

"I've got you!" Confidence Heart flew up and caught Soul Heart, slowing her descent to avoid further injury, but the black smoke continued to pour out of her. Confidence Heart and Love Heart looked up to where the smoke was gathering overhead, growing larger, and larger until the sun was obscured and the street lights below flicked on from the darkness.

Two giant red eyes opened in the cloud as it blotted out the sky, bathing the land below in a baleful red light as its voice boomed out, "THE BODY IS SPENT BUT I STILL LIVE! I AM NO-HEART! IT ALL ENDS NOW!" the cloud turned its gaze to Love Heart, "YOU SHALL BE MY NEW VESSEL!" the cloud descended towards Love Heart.

Love Heart stared No-Heart down, "Not today," his chest symbol started to glow, "Care Bear Stare!" A bright beam of green light fired off from his chest symbol and struck the cloud dead on. No-Heart grunted in pain and recoiled slightly, but then dove on to Love Heart.

"SUBMIT TO ME!" No-Heart tried to push into Love Heart's body.

Love Heart threw up his arms, a barrier of wind pushing the cloud back, "I'm no golem! I'm a Care Bear! Stare!" Love Heart fired off another stare and put some distance between him and the cloud.

Confidence Heart watched the cloud of malice closing in on Love Heart and trying to possess him. "Care Bear Stare!" Confidence Heart let out a shout as a blast of yellow energy fired off from her chest symbol, striking the cloud and startling it long enough for Love Heart to fire another stare right into it's eyes.

Down on the ground, True Heart and Noble Heart had managed to pull the entire Care Bear Family back into the park, now that the fighting on the ground was over.

"Alright! Everyone prepare for a countdown!" Noble Heart pointed up at No-Heart, "We have to protect them."

"Wait! What do we do?" Flash Heart stood with the rest of the Shadow Magi.

True Heart took his hand then looked at the other Shadow Magi, "Focus your good feelings into your chest symbol and force them out towards No-Heart. Just follow our lead, OK?"

"Alright," Calm Heart said as they all looked up to the darkness above them.

Noble Heart took True Heart's hand as they spoke together, "Care Bears Countdown! Four! Three! Two! One! Care Bear Stare!"

All at once, dozens of bright colored beams of light fired off from every Care Bear's and Care Bear Cousin's chest symbols and struck into the giant cloud of No-Heart's body. Even the Shadow Magi, fueled by their love for the bear/golem that had raised them, though their beams weren't as large and their aim was erratic No-Heart made for a target they couldn't miss.

No-Heart was trying to force his way into Love Heart when the combined force of the Care Bear Family's stares struck him and he howled in pain as the light of caring burned through his shadowy body. Love Heart and Confidence had enough time for their own countdowns and they fired their charged up stares at No-Heart as well.

Overwhelmed by their combined power and with no body of flesh to protect his true essence, No-Heart began to shrink, his shadowy body losing mass as the energy assaulted him, wisps of his shadow body evaporating away as the stares took their toll, until the sky was no longer covered and the sun could be seen again.

The combined beams of light continued for a full minute, then they began to peter out. The unprepared Shadow Magi tapped out first, all collapsing to the ground as their beams began to miss. Then, one-by-one, the rest of the Care Bear family tired out, their stares dissipating as they ran out of energy and were forced to collapse to the ground or grab nearby trees for support, the already exhausted Magi tapping out first followed by the rest of the Care Bears and Cousins, even Confidence Heart had to stop so she wouldn't fall out of the sky, as did Love Heart as his hovering became wobbly and he has to stabilize himself. Eventually, only Noble Heart, True Heart and Grams Bear were able to maintain their stares as No-Heart's body shrank to the size of a small hot-air balloon, but even they couldn't keep it up forever and they faded, Grams sitting on a bench near to her while Noble Heart and True Heart leaned on each other for support.

No-Heart's voice no longer carried the undercurrent of darkness it had, but it still boomed out for all to hear, "NO! THIS IS NOT THE END FOR ME! WHILE YOU LANGUISH HERE I WILL DESTROY THE KINGDOM OF CARING! YOU MAY WIN THIS DAY BUT I WILL EXACT MY PAYMENT FROM YOUR HOMES!" No-Heart's red eyes turned upwards and he began to ascend towards the clouds.

Love Heart bared his teeth, "No! I won't let you destroy my home again!" He flew up after No-Heart, despite the exhaustion encroaching on him he forced himself to fly in pursuit.

Seeing what was happening overhead, Confidence dropped to the ground as fast as she could safely and lay Soul Heart on the ground, "Stay there," was all she said before she took off, despite the considerable lead Love Heart and No-Heart had.

No-Heart was too fast to overtake, Love Heart could, at best, match his speed for most of the flight as they ascended higher and higher until the city below was lost to view and they weren't even visible as specs to those below.

Love Heart saw the Kingdom of Caring come into view and forced himself to put on a burst of speed to cut off No-Heart's flight path. "You won't take away my home, not again!" Love Heart declared as he forced himself to conjure one more sword from his chest symbol, wincing at the effort.

"I MAY BE BEATEN, BUT YOU ARE FAR TOO WEAK TO STOP ME!" No-Heart watched as Love Heart flew at him and struck, the sword passing harmlessly through his shadowy body, "THAT WEAPON CAN NOT HARM THIS BODY AND YOU HAVE NO ENERGY LEFT FOR YOUR STARE! YOU WILL STAY THERE AND WATCH AS I LEAVE YOU WITH NO HOME TO RETURN TO."

"No…" Love Heart held up his sword in both hands as No-Heart began to ascend again. "Can't hit on the surface alone but, maybe." Love Heart looked down at his chest symbol then to his sword, "Maybe I can channel the energy like my kinetics." Love Heart closed his eyes and grit his teeth his symbol lighting up once again, then his sword blade started to glow with a white light. Love Heart opened his eyes and saw his glowing blade, then up to No-Heart who was almost at the boundaries of the Kingdom of Caring.

Love Heart summoned the last of his energy and flew up right behind No-Heart, overtaking him as he raised his sword over his head. "This ends now!"

"WHAT?!" No-Heart turned to face No-Heart right as Love Heart struck.

No-Heart screamed in pain, genuine pain as the light of Love Heart's stare covered blade sliced through him, the energy coursing through his shadowy body and burning his essence as the source. Love Heart again drove the blade down as the parts it had passed through began to burn away like paper set on fire and his two halves began to peel away from each other. Love Heart didn't stop, forcing himself to keep going until he had sliced No-Heart all the way through and his screams of pain petered out to nothing.

Love Heart watched the two halves of No-Heart fall away, still burning to cinders as they fell until they were lost to sight. "It's over," Love Heart smiled as the light vanished and he dropped his sword, which disintegrated, then he lost control of his flight and started to fall.

The cool wind whipping past his face as he fell was enough to keep Love Heart awake and he turned around in mid air so he could see where he was falling. He used what little magical energy he had left to guide himself back to where he had launched from, even as he tried and failed to slow down.

As the city came into view a sandy blur flew up to meet him, "Don't worry, I'm here." Confidence Heart matched Love Heart's speed as she wrapped her arms around him. Love Heart embraced her back as Confidence slowed their descent even as they continued to fall, slower, and slower, until finally, they drifted softly to the ground.

Love Heart was a bit shaky on his feet, but he was more magically drained than physically, "Thank you."

"Anytime," Love Heart and Confidence Heart kissed.

"Is No-Heart gone?" Take Care had joined them, with Healer and Gift Bear at her sides.

"Did you beat the bad guy daddy?" Healer asked.

Love Heart smiled as he and Confidence let go of each other, "Yes, I saw him disintegrate. No-Heart's gone."

"Yay! You did it daddy!" Gift Bear hugged her father's leg, Love Heart smiled, picked her up and hugged her back, before he set her down again.

A groan from nearby caught their attention. It was Soul Heart, still alive somehow as Flash Heart limped over to her. "Mom?"

Love Heart and Confidence ran to the scorched purple bear golem's side as Flash Heart propped up her head. Soul Heart managed a weak smile up at the three, "Thank you," she croaked, "He's gone. The horrible evil that possessed me is gone…"

"Mom, don't go! Please," Flash Heart was crying, "You can take this, you said your body never gets tired or feels pain!"

Soul Heart's smile faded, "Maybe not… but all the energy that… keeps me going… was burned out by No-Heart… and your attack…Love Heart. It's taking everything…to stay here in… this body."

Love Heart and Confidence were crying as well. Love Heart wiped his eyes, "I'm sorry, I Didn't want this I wish *sniff* I could have saved you."

"But you did," Soul Heart managed a weak smile, "Years ago, to me at least… you saved me from being his mindless puppet… I only wish I could have been like you… and let myself experience happiness…"

"You did," Flash Heart didn't even bother trying to wipe away his tears, "Mom, you saved us, all of us," he looked back to where the Shadow Magi were just starting to stand back up, "without you I'd still be dying on the street."

Soul Heart tried to raise her hand, but could only get it up a couple centimeters off the ground until Flash Heart took it and raised it up in his own. "I'm sorry, Flash… I'm sorry I dragged you… into my mad quest for revenge… I wish I could have… just let us live… in peace…then we could have had a happy life…and we wouldn't have come to this…" She shuddered as she saw the other Shadow Magi gather around her, "But I see you all here…Love Heart," she turned her head to the green bear, "You gave me…a real life…a real soul…please…look after… my family…" Soul Heart's eyes closed and her body slumped limp in Flash Heart's arms.

Everyone who heard her speak was crying, even some of the humans who had no idea what was going on. Love Heart had his face buried in his hands, Confidence Heart wiped her arm across her face and Flash Heart held the body of the golem he had called 'mom' close as he wept silently.

"I wish it didn't have to end like this," Confidence Heart said.

"I wish I could have given her a better life," Love Heart whispered.

"It's doesn't have to, and you can." A soft glow had suffused the area and Love Heart and Confidence looked up to see a bright shining five-pointed star overhead with an elderly smiling face.

"The Great Wishing Star?" Love Heart was startled.

"Hey, everyone…?" Confidence Heart looked around and saw that everyone else was frozen in place and looking…grey?"

"They cannot hear you, I have frozen you between two ticks of the clock so you may make this decision on your own," the star said, "For if you truly wish to save her then I can give you the chance, look at Soul Heart." They turned to the golem's body and saw a glowing purple light rise out of it. "This is her soul, it would pass on from this world and then I can't say what will happen to it, but if you wish then I can give it to you. Confidence Heart, despite your condition you have a life growing inside you, though it is not even a day old it is there and does not yet have a soul to inhabit it. I can place her soul inside this new life and I will ensure that you carry her to term. If you agree to do this and both agree to raise her with love and caring, then you can give her the life she deserves. You must make this decision together. I will not force it on either of you."

Love Heart and Confidence looked at each other. They didn't need any words and they turned back to the star, speaking in unison, "We'll do it."

"Very well. Soul Heart will be reborn without her old memories. It is up to you to decide who, if anyone, you share this information with. Thank you and good luck." The mote of light flew into Confidence Heart, vanishing into her tummy. Confidence's hands flew to where it had disappeared as did Love Heart's as time resumed its flow.

Flash Heart held Soul Heart's body close and cried, the other Shadow Magi gathered nearby were crying as well. Love Heart and Confidence Heart shared a look and stood up together, trying their eyes.

"We can bury her in the Kingdom of Caring," Love Heart offered.

Flash Heart, still crying, stood up with Soul Heart's body in his arms, "Thank you."

The brief peace was broken when one of the bolder reporters stepped forwards, "Excuse me, Care Bears, can you tell me what has just happened here?"

Thankfully, Tenderheart stepped between the exhausted Magi and took over, introducing himself, "Tenderheart Bear. I can answer any questions about what happened here. The rest of my family needs time to recover."

Love Heart nodded a thanks to Tenderheart and looked at Flash Heart, "I'll do my best to fulfill her last wish: you are all welcome to come and live in the Kingdom of Caring with us."

"Do we deserve that?" The voice came from Marine Heart Otter, who stood there with his head hung, "After everything we did to you, even before No-Heart shoved those orbs into us."

"Yes," Confidence Heart walked over to Marine, "Take it from the woman who kicked your ass before. You made mistakes but you can make amends." She pointed to the fleet of cloud cars that had thankfully been parked far enough away from the battles to survive, unnoticed by the three monsters, "Let's get you home while Tenderheart handles public relations."

Indeed, while Tenderheart did just that (joined by Brave Heart, Noble Heart and True Heart), the rest of the Care Bear Family quietly boarded their cloud cars, leaving one behind for the leaders, and flew back to the Kingdom of Caring.

OoOoO

Flash Heart stood, a small bouquet of flowers in his hand, in front of the simple grave that had been placed in between Care-a-Lot and the Forest of Feelings. This was the only place with deep enough dirt to bury anyone. The headstone read.

SOUL HEART BEAR

DEVOTED MOTHER

ONE WHO ROSE

ABOVE HER BIRTH

AND GAVE HER LIFE

TO HELP SAVE US ALL

He put his hand on the headstone, "Hey mom, just stopping by before I visit Marine and Flora, or I guess 'Sea Friend Otter' and 'Forest Friend Bear' they call themselves now." He couldn't help but chuckle, "Everyone else is adjusting well, people on Earth are going crazy about that magic battle, feels like so long ago… I wish you could be here to see all of this, it's so peaceful here…" he sighed then smiled, "I like this 'free love' thing they do up here, I've been spending a lot of time with Harmony Bear and Share Bear, maybe I just like purple ladies. But I didn't come here to tell you about my love life. I just… wanted to thank you, again, for raising me and teaching me everything. I just hope… I hope things keep going well. I'll see you later." He set the flowers down on the interred dirt then headed into the forest, wiping his eyes clean.

OoOoO

"Flora! Marine! How are you?!" Flash Heart shouted as he approached their dwelling from across the river: a simple grass and stick hut with a woven reed drape across the opening. This deeper part of the Forest of Feelings had more naturally colored plants than the brightly colored parts close to Care-a-Lot, likely due to the fact that only two members of the Care Bear Family lived out here.

The blue otter was just climbing out of the water right next to a visibly pregnant pink bear keeping a fire going, who responded to Flash Heart, "It's Forest Friend Bear and Sea Friend Otter now, remember?"

"You'll always be Flora and Marine to me," Flash Heart teleported across the river to their side, "So how's it going living out here and doing the whole 'environmental activist' thing?" Flash Heart sat down next to Forest Friend as Sea Friend stuck the fish he'd caught on spits to roast them over the fire.

"Not as bad as I thought, I just didn't want to help humans directly," Sea Friend said, "Not after what happened to me…" He touched his chest symbol, as did Forest Friend. When they had officially become the 'Environmental Care Animals' their chest symbols had changes slightly, a smiling sun appearing behind both Sea Friend's crashing wave and Forest Friend's heart shaped forest.

"As long as PETA doesn't get on our case again for being 'human-made abominations'" Forest Friend grumbled, then smiled, "It's so satisfying when I find an illegal clearcutting operation, nature's vengeance!" she snapped her fingers and a small damp vine popped up to take a now cooked fish from the fire for her.

"Gotten used to cooked food too?" Flash Heart watched as Sea Friend grabbed a fish and tore into it.

"Tastes a lot better and it's supposed to be better for us and our kid," Sea Friend said.

"You should come visit more often, I miss you two," Flash Heart didn't take any of the fish, he'd eaten before he visited the grave.

"We like living in nature, especially one that's not an assault on the eyes," Forest Friend shook her head, "how do you all stand it?"

Flash chuckled, "You get used to it, even Passion Heart's adjusted."

"Yeah well," Sea Friend took a bite and swallowed, "You'll see us in winter again."

"And we'll come by for our child's check up when they're born," Forest Friend dug into another fish.

"Alright, well I should get home. I have to keep things going since Love Heart's on paternity leave." Flash Heart stood up, "Good luck you two."

"Drop by anytime," Sea Friend said as Flash walked away.

OoOoO

"That's right, hold still Confidence." Take Care Bear ran the ultrasound paddle over Confidence Heart's massive belly, "Despite the cramps from your endometriosis you're doing just fine." Take Care rested her free hand, with a simple wedding band on it, on her equally huge belly as she, Confidence and Love Heart turned to look at the screen.

Confidence Heart was tearing up and wiped her eyes with the hand where her own wedding band was, "So she's healthy?"

"Yes, Miracle Heart Fennec is healthy," Take Care said. "Let's get done, then you can help me see our child, Love Heart."

Love Heart chuckled as Take Care wiped the gel off Confidence's tummy, then they both helped her down, "I didn't think marrying a doctor would mean I'd have to become one too." He helped Take Care up onto the ultrasound chair, their wedding bands clinking as they briefly touched.

"Bright Heart will take over for me later, besides," Take Care sat back as Love Heart rubbed the gel on her belly, "We have a huge baby boom coming up a few months after they're born so I'll need all the help I can get from both of you, especially once we finish expanding the maternity wing."

"I'll go check on Healer and Gift," Confidence Heart waddled out of the exam room and into the house.

"So the Star came through for her and Soul Heart it seems," Take Care looked at Love Heart. Take Care was one of the only others who knew the truth about Soul Heart's reincarnation, along with Love Heart's parents.

Love Heart nodded, "So far. Is everything alright with Confidence?"

"Not completely. I told her this when you were out on that mission last week but even if the Star is keeping her from miscarrying, her body didn't take this well. I was able to do some pre-natal care to keep her from taking most long term damage but…she's technically sterile, at least in the sense that after this she won't be able to get pregnant again." Take Care sighed, "The good news is that will be the only long term damage, she'll be just as capable a fighter as she was before."

"That's good," Love Heart sighed in relief as he picked up and cleaned the ultrasound paddle, "So let's see our child. We should have done this a long time ago."

"I've been busy. So any name ideas?" Take Care smiled, then shuddered as she felt the paddle press against her belly.

"I've been thinking about that," Love Heart had to focus to keep his hand steady, "Do they need a Care Bear style name? I mean it's getting hard to think up a names that someone else doesn't have and picking one they're expected to live up to…"

Take Care giggled, half from the feeling of the paddle and gel and half from what Love Heart said, "I understand and that does help me. If it's a girl how about Lily?"

"Sounds great, and… am I doing this right?" Love Heart looked up from her belly.

"Just fine, the image should be coming now." They turned to the ultrasound screen, and stared in shock. The image on the screen, what they could make out, was evidently female but equally evidently was not a bear. "Hooves, long tail and horn."

"A unicorn?" Love Heart touched the eight pointed star on his forehead, the same star that was on Sweet Heart, Gift and Healer's foreheads. "I guess some sort of magical recessive genes?"

Tale Care shook her head, "Recessive genes don't work like that, they only trigger when both parents have the same recessive gene, like red hair in humans."

Love Heart shrugged, "My little sister is a Pegasus and mom said it was just something strange that magic can do, so this is probably the same."

"I'm just relieved she isn't jabbing me with that horn, she looks healthy at least." Take Care sighed as Love Heart removed the paddle and cleaned the gel off her, "So Lily it is then."

"Sounds good." Love Heart helped Take Care off the chair and they kissed before they shut down the machine so they could go to bed.

Confidence Heart met them in the hall, "The kids are asleep, like we should be."

"Sounds good," Love Heart yawned.

Moments later, Love Heart lay in between his two pregnant wives, arms around them as they lay sideways and pressed up against him, letting him feel their unborn children. "I love both of you."

"I love you too," Confidence Heart gave him a kiss.

"I love both of you too," Take Care kissed him and snuggled closer. Love Heart sank deep into the pillows as all three of them drifted off.

For now, all was right with the world.

THE END

A/N: Hoo boy! That was a wild ride. I didn't think I'd get this done so quickly but the words just kept coming, when I could stop myself from procrastinating, heh. Yes, the story is finished and I hope you all like what I did with this ending. For those who are going to ask, yes this Lily is the same character from Care Bears Family Adventures, I wanted to give her a chance to live again even though I changed her species because I felt like it. Please comment and tell me what you thought of not only this chapter, but the entire story of "Care Bear Magi Life", I want your honest opinions on both.
