Okay. I come bearing bad news, so I'll try to be serious for once. No emojis this time (even though it's really tempting…).

So, I'm sure at least some of you guys already expected this, considering how long I haven't been updating.

The Other Side of the Coin is now officially discontinued.

The reasons for this are plenty.

First, I simply lack the motivation. My lack of it is supported by various reasons as well (reasons that are my fault entirely).

One, I take too long to update, which caused a lot of the authors who sent OCs to have already left fanfiction. I have to write 32 characters, 20 of which aren't mine, and most of those 20 characters' owners have disappeared. Naturally, I started to wonder whether continuing to write those characters, when their owners aren't even here to see them, is worth it. However, I do thank everyone who stayed with me for so long, and I'm sorry to discontinue this despite my now empty promise that "I will finish this no matter how long it takes".

Two, my OCs have changed too much. I cannot fit their current personalities and back stories anymore, and I don't really want to continue writing their pre-revamp selves. The cringe is too real. For one, what kind of police officer is fourteen years old?

Three, my obsession in giving everyone an equal amount of screen time killed the story. Due to my inexperience, I automatically assumed that an equal amount of screen time meant putting everyone into the same place and having them walk around like a classroom on a study tour. Tell me,why are sixteen police officers going on patrol at the exact same place?

… I want to headwall myself. Repeatedly.

Feel free to laugh at my awesomeness.

Four, the plot is insane. Truly. You will see why later.

Moving on!

Did I miss any more reasons? Since I don't know, moving on!

A slap is heard in the background.

Rewrite notice at the bottom, please skip this until the next line break if you don't want plot spoilers.

About the insane plot.

I won't just leave you guys wondering on what the story was supposed to be like and end it like that, so I'll write walls of texts containing summaries of what I planned to write before I decided to discontinue this. The main plot only, not the side stories.

Sit back and relax, this is going to take a while.

In the previous chapter, we see that the police and organization sides are finally going to clash. Each person is going to fight their eternal rival, or just whoever in general, and be on par with each other.

During this, Alabaster dies from an unseen force after he won his fight with Lint.

All fights went to a stop after Miki, finding his corpse, screams.

The police side went into mourning, especially Zanardi, and are comforted by their respective intended pairings. Zanardi and Rizumu also became friendlier after Rizumu tried to cheer her up. Some from the organization side met the police somewhere and started to bond, and they consoled them from their inspector's death. Though at first they clashed since the police thought it was their fault, but they assured them that they were just as confused.

(Because why can't we comfort our supposed enemies, right? Right.)

After that, Lint introduces the organization members to their private hacker, who turns out to be a daughter of his named Mione, the mute girl Weiss met during the chaos at the market.

In the police side, Rizumu was chosen as their next inspector, and Zanardi took on her role instead.

Weiss meets Mione at the park, where they interacted and reminisced their time in the police academy before they went to their separate weiss (ways). After this scene there are also random parts in the next chapters where they met in the park, and Mione has a habit of head patting him every time (he was initially not pleased and always went into shock).

Insert fluffy chapters of no plot here.

Chapters later, at HQ, Mione was asked to investigate Alabaster's mysterious death by Nezu, and after coming closer to the truth, was also mysteriously assassinated.

The organization side mourned for her (the ones who did befriend her that is), and Lint swore to find the killer whatever it takes. They became alert of a new presence that was attacking both sides. Meanwhile, Nezu became distressed if the reason for her death was because of his request.

The police members returned back to their daily lives, but kept alert for clues that could lead them to finding Alabaster's killer.

On a midnight patrol, Elysea encountered the killer and was murdered as well, her corpse found in the morning. Akira obviously took it the hardest.

The killer had disguised as an innocent lost person, and upon turning her back, she was killed.

During all of this, Mao had been exchanging letters with the chief of police, who was practically like an older sister to him, and hearing that two of their members had been killed mysteriously and that they had nearly no clues as to how or who did it (the only thing they knew was that the murders were all clean, no blood found at all), came there themselves along with Lou (the one from TSOTSC).

The chief is Ibis, a telekinesis user using a wheelchair, and her assistant was Sync, the previous chief of police who took Chess' case before he stepped down due to health issues.

The three handled the case and quickly managed to tie down the problems to be connected to the organization side. Upon meeting them, they were surprised to find out that two members of theirs had also fallen to the same fate. Hearing that one of them was Mione, Weiss was shocked.

Lint had been found dead the previous night just that morning, and the members were all still shaken from finding him in that state.

Feeling that something was fishy about the case, Lou went to contact some people from TSOTSC, the people being: Lorelei, Ozul, Sana, Riku, Fae, Neal, Milyana, and Konoha.

Cain was surprised to see Milyana, not expecting his fiancée to survive, and the girl started going back and forth between sanity and insanity at seeing him alive. The two later managed to resolve this issue by defeating a demon inside her that was controlling her in later chapters. Milyana became sane.

Caeldori was shocked to see Konoha, and the two siblings reunited. Caeldori will later become an overprotective sister to him after seeing him show interest in Lou. Lou was not pleased to be caught in this.

After hearing what they had to say, Fae became suspicious of something when she heard that they all had died clean deaths, and requested to see their corpses.

Due to the case still being investigated into, the three had been frozen to ensure that they remain the same as when they were found.

Cue angst from the intended pairings, and the police side for seeing Alabaster.

Observing them, Fae suddenly widened her eyes and pulled out something invisible from them. It was a string only visible to the Aoife clan, but can still be touched by non-members.

She went to explain that she had been searching for her runaway twin brother, and that her brother had soul taking powers, which meant that the killer had been him all along.

She began to describe her brother's appearance as how she remembered him in their childhood, and the more he listened, Cain became paler.

Her brother had been Loque.

Immediately, the group went to Velder to search for him, and found him inside, already expecting them.

Cain pointed out that something seemed to be wrong with him, his eyes glowing red rather than its usual pink, and Fae explained that her brother had constantly been possessed by the spirit of her clan's founder, who had turned evil.

Eventually, they fought and lost more people in the fight. Alabaster, Mione, and Elysea were resurrected as emotionless zombies and fought them alongside 'Loque'.

Somewhere along the fight, Loque woke up from his forced slumber and did his best to fight against the spirit's control, succeeding in banishing him with Fae's help.

After defeating the evil spirit, Alabaster, Mione, and Elysea's souls were miraculously returned and the three woke up from their zombie state. However, the members whose lives were taken in the fight had been locked away by the spirit and unable to return.

Those members are Weiss, Cain, Chess (Joker had taken control right after his soul was taken), Zanardi, Shion, Ibis, Mao, and Vince (his soul was taken the first due to his paralyzing sparkling techniques).

There was apparently a way to restore their friends' lives, but it required two people's souls as sacrifice.

Everyone went into deep thought. No one wanted to die, but they also wanted to save their friends.

Lint, Rizumu, Joker, Milyana, Ivy, Miki, and Xen were a bit more willing than the others to let their souls be the sacrifice, but Fae and Loque told them to think things through then meet then the next day.

The members all went to their respective rooms while still deep in thought (the police members were given the guest rooms in the HQ), but Sync snuck out of his room and went to meet the twins. He met Jason on the way, who figured out his intentions and tried to stop him, but Sync knocked him unconscious and told him to take care of Ibis in his place.

On the way there, he was surprised to meet Alabaster, and the old inspector admitted that he already guessed what he was going to do and was going to be the second sacrifice along with him, saying that he was already old enough and that the others were too young to die now, and because they were now fully capable of leading the force without him.

Sync didn't object.

Fae and Loque weren't surprised to see them there, able to see that the time they had left was the shortest among the members, especially Sync's due to his own power chipping away at his life every time he used it, and his illness.

As they were sacrificed, Sync's mind flash backed to a few weeks ago where he went for a check-up with his personal doctor. The doctor reluctantly told him that his time was short due to the over-use of his double-edged powers (able to absorb others' attacks and nullify it, but the effects (although significantly lowered) still affected his body). He only had two years left, and that's only if he resigned his post in the police force. If he went into a fight once more, he'd die.

Thus he wanted his final moments to be of use.

The other members were shocked to see them dead whilst the others woke up, meaning that they had sacrificed themselves under their noses and without telling them. They all grieved, but eventually started to move on one by one.

Then, everyone prepared themselves for their own journeys (Vince and Loque went back to their respective businesses), and the story ends with Ibis and Jason visiting Sync's grave.

Amazing, right?

Random notes about this story that might not even be important:

- Loque's birth name was Faye. Loque was the name his adopted grandfather gave him when he refused to tell his name, fearing that his clan could find him.

He had once been a powerless young boy who kept being put aside by other clan members for that and for his pink eyes (the clan members are commonly found with cream hair and silver eyes). Turns out, pink eyes were the symbol of the spirit's chosen host, and on the age of thirteen he had been granted his life-taking powers.

Just when he was about to be beaten by the clan bullies, his powers suddenly activated and took their lives, killing them.

Aware of what this meant, he was put into seclusion in a house at the edge of the clan village after his family defended him from being cast out. He became known as an abomination to the village, and he himself was afraid of his newfound powers.

Then, a group of kids foolishly went to the house to face the 'monster', but instead got the same fate as the previous kids. At that time, Faye had started training his control via plants and had much better control, but the evil spirit possessed him and killed them.

Unable to take the deaths anymore, most of the clan demanded him to be killed. Fae and his parents did their best to defend him, but Faye himself didn't want to burden them any longer, and left on his own accord.

After, his adopted grandfather found him.

- The clan founder once had a loyal group of students following him, but then he found that his powers were able to also kill instantly, and became insane in his search for justice. His students then defeated him, and he became a wandering spirit with intentions to fulfill his ambitions using the organization side, mostly consisting of criminals/talented people whom he brainwashed or those who fell for his advertisement and decided to join.

- The evil spirit was the one who possessed Riku in TSOTSC. In this story, he's been possessing Lint and Loque back and forth.

Fun facts:

- In the phone scene featuring Weiss, the one who asked for the pizza was En. Thus, the two communicated without knowing that it was the other.

- 3 forgot the names and accessories of all the fudge rabbits. (3: #slapped XwX)

- The codenames are useless. (3: #double slapped XwX)

- 3 first created the fudge rabbits in elementary school through an attempt of drawing a bunny. It failed, and the fudge rabbits were born! #what

When it was first created, fudge rabbits were terrorists who would ruthlessly kill people using machine guns and bombs (smiling while they do so) just to get chocolate fudge. Apparently, even when it was killed it will resurrect itself during the full moon.

An elder fudge rabbit wears a cloth around its mouth (or lower body…) and can speak in a human language, in an adult's voice. They apparently became ninjas.

Now these fudge rabbits have been revamped and they became normal (as normal as can be) adorable mochi-like pet bunnies whose food is still fudge. They are no longer murderous. Maybe uwu (?)

- In chapter 5, the fudge rabbit scenes, Alisa's fudge rabbit started crying because she wouldn't wake up.

- In Miki's scene, the words her fudge rabbit said are:

"You."

"OUT!"

"GET UP NOW," "CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES," "THEN LEAVE!"

"CORRECT."

"MOVE IT! MOVE IT!"

- Measter Bunny, the name Rizumu tried to name her fudge rabbit once, is a combination of Mister and Easter Bunny.

- Because Thirteen, Five, and Seven's backgrounds are rather similar, 3 decided to connect their storylines. Thus, the Thirteen Five and Seven meant in chapter 7 is indeed him.

- Vince's ability is to sparkle stunningly (literally).

- According to his owner (ma bro), Vince apparently died once, but was rejected from the afterlife due to his… uniqueness. Thus, "Mr. Cappy" (Enma) was forced to take care of him, but was unable to handle his beautiful spirit and was sent back in the form of a meteor. Until this day, he is sent back in the same way each time he was killed.

There's a space in the organization HQ made specifically for his landing.

- Alice is somewhat related to Aria from TSOTSC.

- Some of the organization members are famous criminals like Chess. En was a serial killer whose modus operandi is theft. Nezu was a thief. Thirteen, before he lost his memories, was a test subject who after numerous experiments became insane and turned into a bomber, Nex was a mafia member and an assassin, Alice apparently once killed higher-officials (her identity wasn't found by the government, but Lint did), and Five and Seven were freelance assassins.

They were all kidnapped and brainwashed by the evil spirit posing as Lint to join the group, knowing their capabilities.

I hope that this chapter is fun enough to read even as a discontinue notice.

On a different note, although this story is discontinued, I am currently in the progress of writing the rewrite version. I have finished rewriting the first three chapters, and the rest is on the way. This version will be a combination of both TSOTSC and TOSOTC, with the main focus being on the side of TSOTSC. It will be much darker and serious than the previous ones, with the main genre being Hurt/Comfort.

Although it is a rewrite, it will have numerous changes. For one, Ozul will no longer be a half grim reaper, but a simple mage. Lorelei's personality has also been changed to a more solemn one. Sent OCs will be in character, and there will no longer be any unnatural attempts for humor. The world will be explored in much more detail, and angst will definitely be in the story. But this is still a rewrite, so the story will still be following the original plot, just with many changes in hopes that it would actually make sense now. I will try to make it much more realistic.

To give you an idea of how the story will be like, here's a sneak peek of a part in Chapter 1:

'"You're late."'

The stuffed bear's head turned towards her as the familiar boyish voice resounded in her mind like an echo.

This was a secret she never told anyone, not even Sana.

When she was six years old, her uncle gave the white stuffed bear to her on her birthday. It had been with her ever since, a mysteriously magical childhood friend.

It never allowed her to tell anyone about it. To everyone's eyes, it was just a stuffed toy she was particularly fond of and brought everywhere. Telling them otherwise would just be a futile attempt regardless. Strangely, only she was able to hear its voice.

"Sorry," She sincerely apologized, knowing that it had been stuck inside the room alone the entire day. "The quest took longer than we thought."

It didn't reply, just staring at her.

I am planning to finish it first before posting them one chapter per two days. I am aware that this rewrite will be lacking readers due to the fact that nearly all of the OC senders are most likely no longer active (I know one who still is. Shoutout to you, Primey!), so to prevent myself from losing interest I shall keep it from being posted until I am done. If you did send in an OC and are still reading, I apologize for making your OCs OOC. I hope I will be able to do them justice this time.

However, the story will mostly be written in Lorelei's third person POV, so the other OCs will undoubtedly have lesser screen times.

If you did not send in an OC and yet are still reading, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Alright… For the last time in this story…

Thanks for reading~
