AUTHOR'S NOTE AT THE END!

Five-year-old Eli looked around him to see toys and kids all around him. His dad had taken him to the mall and he was bored. Really, really bored. The kids were mostly normal kids and he was the oddball of the bunch. He could tell. And here he was, stuck in the play area of the mall with a 'caretaker' watching them. He watched as two boys wrestled another boy. He didn't know who they were, but they had powers. He could see their auras. A lot of the other boys and girls were playing with toy cars and dolls. In fact, quite a bit of girls and a few boys were playing House together. And since he didn't want to wrestle or play with cars/dolls or play House, he was alone in the corner and bored.

Of course, his brother was at home with their mom. Of course, he was the one who had to come along. His brother always found excuses to not go with Dad. Always. He watched the red aura'd boy make a flame in his hand, the green aura'd boy make a clay container to hold it, and the blue aura'd boy have water in his hands just in case. Another boy with a yellow aura went up to them and gave them a ball of wind for their 'creation'. Just then, his dad came up to him and tapped him on his shoulder.

"You ready to go, bud?" he asked.

"Yep!" Eli responded.

The two of them walked out of the mall hand-in-hand. A fireball separated the two, Eli going left and his father right.

"I'll make myself clear, Willem. Give me the boy, or else," a man with a pink-white scar over his mouth said.

"Never! You'll have to kill me first!"

"So be it."

The two men went at it for a long while. How long, exactly, Eli wasn't sure. All he knew was his father was battling the evil man over him. Why, he still didn't know. What he did know was that he was an odd child. He had been able to bend and master water, earth, air, and healing. Not many kids had a lot of powers like him. He was also smart. Smart, as in knowing division smart. He then felt his father curl around him.

"Son, I love you, you know that right?" he asked.

"I-I do. D-dad, I l-love you t-too," Eli said back, tears falling from his eyes.

A shot rang out and his father let one single tear fall before his eyes glossed over and fell limp.

"Dad?" shake, "dad!" another shake, "DAD!"

At his scream, fire erupted from his hands and the evil man backed away slightly.

"You! You did this!"

His mind went blank and when he had control over his body, the parking lot was in ruins. The mall's glass doors were shattered. His mother ran up to him.

"Eli! What happened?"

And tell her he did. He started with how he was bored in the play area of the mall to the end where he didn't remember what happened.

"Oh, Eli. You tapped into the ultimate power of being the Master of the Elements, and you just learned how to control fire."

"I did?"

"Mmmhmm."

~~~!~~~
Eli sat up with a gasp as all of the memory came rushing into his brain. Calming down slightly, he saw it was morning outside and that his slugs were next to him, sleeping. Once he realized he was alone, he let the tears that had pooled into his eyes fall, keeping as silent as possible.
When no more tears fell, he gave a small sigh of relief and rubbed the tear tracks away. Placing a hand over his stomach, Eli began to walk through the halls, only to find that no one else was awake. He smiled slightly. It meant he could practice with his powers. Eli then lit up a small ball of fire in one hand while the other held a small ball of water. Smiling, he let the two elements go into one another slowly. The water engulfed the fire, but due to his power, the fire didn't go out. He then let a little bit of wind wrap around the sphere. He then used his earth elemental power to create a crystal ball so the elements could go inside. For the finishing touch, he used his healing magic to make the ball glitter.
"Hey, Eli!"
At the new voice, he gasped and dropped the elements in his hands. The crystal shattered to the floor, the healing magic dissipated, the fire went out, the wind ran away, and the water stained the carpet. He turned to see his brother. He gave a slight sigh of relief.
"Will! What are you doing up?"
"I could ask you the same thing, Eli."
"Touche."
"What were you doing?"
"Nothing. Just practising my powers. Is that bad?"
"No, no. I was just curious, that's all."
Trixie and Kord walked out soon after.
"What happened? We heard a crash."
Hey, guys! It's been a while, hasn't it?
Before you guys get upset with me, no, I did not abandon this story! I just... Took an extended break from it. However, I am going to rewrite this story. It's not that I don't like it or anything like that, it's just that I think I can write this better than I did previously.
I will still keep this version up so that everyone can see it, but I'm going to upload the new version right after this chapter is posted! However, I figured you guys deserved what I'd had written for some time now. Like, "since February of 2018". Why did I not upload it? Well, that's because this chapter isn't finished! But I couldn't leave you guys hanging anymore. I had to put something out! It's hard to believe that I started this waaayyy back in September of 2016; waaayyy back when I was a freshman in high school. And look at me now, a freshman in college! Man, do I feel old LMAO. Fourteen-year-old me had no idea that this story would be as popular as it is. Like, seriously, fifteen favourites and twenty follows! I expected, like, two tops. My my, how this story has grown. And, who knows, maybe I'll add Junjie into it? We'll see!
As I said before, I will be redoing this story. I will mark this one as complete, but the story itself isn't. Just this version is. I can't wait to see you all over in the new story! Maybe I rename this one to something else, who knows?
Goodbye for now,
MegaMon2580.
