Lost

AU: A/B/O, Reincarnation, Magic

Jake: Alpha, Dark Mage

Enoch: Omega, Light Mage

Jake didn't know what the Hell this Mage hunter of a man was thinking when he traipsed across his den, but the moment the Mage hunter set sites on Jake's still skittish Mate, he was right there in the thick of things waiting for the hunter to make a move and cross him.

"There's another of you?" the man asked, hefting his crossbow again, aiming once more for the person hiding behind Jake(1).

Jake's eyes flashed sharply as the wind picked up and his cape billowed behind her. "What are you doing in my domain, hunter?"

(The wind picking up made it harder to get off a clear shot, so it was honestly better if it did, hence Jake's silent spell.)

"Who are you?" asked the hunter.

Jake growled. "I am Lord Jake. I know you all have heard of me. Everyone has heard the tales of those who cross my rage. I've made sure of it."

The hunter didn't budge, which was surprising in itself. His eyes flickered between Jake and the smaller mage behind him. Jake was struck with the sudden notion that he'd seen this man before. In another life... His eyes widened and suddenly he was transported back to a thousand years ago when he met her Mate again after reincarnation.

He hadn't known his Mate in this form for long, only a few years at best, but he knew he loved him more than life itself and that was enough for Jake. They were out for a date (Jake having finally convinced him of one) and there was a shot. It was sudden, but when Jake looked down, there was a red flower blooming to life on the cloth of his love's shirt.

"Jake?" his love had asked, panic settling in those russet brown eyes he loved so much.

"It's alright," Jake assured him, rushing to his side. He tried to keep his love with him, but his spell failed and his Mate died of his wounds. In his rage, Jake had cried out a spell that brought his love's killer to him.

It had been a black man, with white hair and white eyes, a man of great power in this realm, but only this realm. Never again would he be able to harm someone with magic. Jake had stripped him of his magic and cursed him to never have any again. He had trembled before Jake in fear.

Jake had felt he'd not done enough as he sent him away and cast another reincarnation spell over himself and his love.

This one he created to be as binding as the magic that flowed in his veins.

Now, Jake smirked, it seemed he had another chance. He turned his head to speak to his Mate, "Do you recognize this man, Enoch?" he asked the terror-stricken boy.

Enoch O'Connor glanced at Jake, then back at the man who'd killed him in a previous life. He shook his head. He looked almost fearful like he'd be punished for not knowing this man. His past was still a painful topic for him; knowing what he'd been through and how badly it had affected him made Jake's blood boil, but the only thing he could do was reassure Enoch that he was safe and nothing could hurt him anymore.

After all, who in their right mind would dare come after a Dark Mage or their Mate?

Jake smiled reassuringly and hummed softly, providing comfort where it was needed, "That's alright, I wouldn't expect you to."

The man suddenly seemed to recognize Jake as well and attempted to run, screaming for help. Jake's eyes flashed and hid magic sparked to life on his fingertips. "I am not finished with you yet." he snapped, sending out a spell and magically binding the man in place.

Jake looked back at Enoch, who'd scrambled back behind Jake again. "This man took you from me in your past life, my love. He killed you and for a long time, I was very lost. Until I was killed as well and reincarnated again to meet you."

Enoch blinked a few times, eyes going soft at the edges where fear bled into sadness. "What will you do with him now?" he asked in that lovely Scottish accent.

Jake turned back to the screaming man and tilted his head, regarding the man with poison-tipped edges in his glowing eyes. "Why don't you decide that my love?" he finally decided, looking back at Enoch; eyes softening as his gaze landed on the smaller male.

Enoch's breathing stuttered and his heart skipped a beat. "Why don't I decide?" he repeated softly. Then he nodded, steeling himself, and stepped out from behind his Mate with a deep breath. He stood beside the ebony-haired Mage and his eyes glowed a pure white as the Light magic that flowed through his veins activated. The man began to scream harder and higher and Jake did another spell that temporarily took his voice.

When Enoch spoke, it was with the voices of hundreds. "You made me lose my love once," he hissed, "Now you will lose yours a thousand times."

With a softly spoken spell, Enoch's curse was complete and he swayed suddenly, hand going to his head with a groan. See, as a Light Mage Enoch had the power to cast the most complicated of spells and make them binding with little energy spent, Enoch was an extremely powerful person; on par with Jake's power, better even. But since he'd never been able to practice his power before, he was usually completely exhausted after using it in copious amounts. He fell to his knees with a sigh and stayed there gathering back his strength.

Jake completed the full spell by walking up to the man and performing the cross symbol over his face. His pointer finger drew a vertical line down the middle of his face. Then, he traced the side of the man's face, up to his cheekbones until Jake reached his eyes, where he drew a horizontal line; finger hovering just above the man's skin.

"His magic is stronger than mine, hunter. You'll never get away from this. When you lose the one you love over and over again, remember that you brought this on yourself when you set your sight on what is mine." Jake whispered to him. He stepped back and with a wave of his hand, his bondage spell was undone.

"I never caught your name, but I researched you for days after what you did," Jake murmured, eyes cold. "Samuel Barron, leave my domain. If you ever return, you will receive more than a simple curse. Remember that when you look to go hunting for Mages again."

Barron's black eyes widened.

Jake found it fitting that his eyes had turned black when he lost his magic.

Black and dark as his ugly, awful Soul.

(1) Enoch is a little OOC in this part, sorry. Bit of background (that was inspired by another fanfiction), Enoch was a pleasure slave before Jewel found and rescued him.
