Chapter 10: Love's First Kiss

At the cottage, the children put Mary Jane's limp and lifeless form on the table after setting it up with some of their bedding and lit candles for her. Everyone who wore a mask removed it, and they all had the same saddened expression.

Logan was the first to break down and cry. He's failed again, just like whatever happened when he was a kid.

Kurt cried too as Hank tried to comfort him.

Ororo broke down as well and sobbed. Logan, holding back his tears, picked Ororo up and held her as she cried, and she held him as he cried.

Bobby and the others cried too, and Rogue was held by Bobby as she cried.

Even the animals cried, with the sorrowful rain as well. The most fair, beautiful, and kind girl in the universe… Was gone.

Even in death, Mary Jane looked so lovely, the children couldn't find it in their hearts to bury her, so they used some excess gold they mined and bought a few sheets of glass and fashioned a coffin out of it, so that Mary Jane could be preserved, and everyone could see her ever-lasting beauty.

Now Peter, who had heard about the maiden who slept in a glass coffin, went to the area she was supposed to be at to find her and see if she was who he feared it would be.

One song, I had but one song.

One song, only for you.

One heart, steadily beating.

Constant and true.

One love that has possessed me.

One love, brimming with truth.

One song, my heart keeps singing.

Of one love, only for you.

Peter had arrived and walked down to find seven children dressed as Iceman, Storm, Beast, Wolverine, Shadowcat, Rogue, and Nightcrawler. He then looked at Mary Jane.

"Mary Jane." Peter said. "Is it alright if I give her a kiss?"

Everyone consented, and they lifted the glass case gently up, and Peter knelt down and kissed Mary Jane on the lips, knelt down, and mourned with the others.

Suddenly, wonder of wonders, Mary Jane awoke!

At first, everyone thought they were seeing things. Maybe just imagining Mary Jane bat her eyes, but when she sat up and looked around, and they saw her smile at Peter, they all knew that she was real.

"Peter!" Mary Jane called out as she jumped into Peter's arms and hugged him.

"Mary Jane!" Peter called out.

All the children cheered.

"Come with me." Peter said. "Come to my place in Queens where we can live in peace and quiet… Kinda."

"Oh, I would love to Peter!" Mary Jane was about to walk away when she turned to the children. "But what would be happening to the children if I left?"

"Hey, we'll be alright." Logan said with a smile Peter knew was genuine.

"Well…" Peter said with mock thinking. "I don't see why you guys can't come too."

"But how will we eat?" Hank asked.

"We manage." Peter said. "I hope you don't mind only eating cheese pizza."

"Eh, we're used to it." Logan said as he pointed at Kurt.

"Alright, let's go." Peter said. "I'll probably have to call my aunt to give us a lift since I only brought my skateboard."

Everyone then walked to where Peter's skateboard was excitedly, and Mary Jane and Peter always held hands and starred at each other lovingly.

A few moments later, Peter's aunt May arrived.

She starred at the children before shrugging her shoulders and opening her arms up to embrace her brand new charges.

They then rode off to Queens where they all lived and hung out, and they all lived happily ever after, with some adventures strewn along the way of course.

Well that's it. I'm thinking of Pinocchio next.
