Rewinding 6hrs before the race:

Robin excitedly bursts into Moms' room, jumping on the bed to abruptly wake them, "COME ON! Get up already!"

Groggily blinking to adjust to the rude awakening, Root spots "you can't just wear the T Robin, its cold outside.

Rolling his eyes he diverts his attention to Shaw, who he is now hitting "get up get up get up!"

Bemused and incredulous Root leaves the warm bed and looks back.

"MAAAAA!" As Robin starts to tug on the duvet.

Unbeknownst to Robin, Shaw is channelling all her energy as to not thump her youngest cause, beating is bad.

After some more time fumbling, grabbing a quick breakfast, everyone rushing about to grab different things, they all stagger out to the car half dishevelled a fully rushed. As the SUV starts...

"Wait!" Robin shouts, and just abruptly opens the door and jumps out.

Sighing a deep sigh and heavily leaning her head against the head rest Shaw closes her eyes.

Root turns to give Shaw a sympathetic smile, still amused by the whole situation as if she was a third party spectator.

Returning seconds later Robin pops the trunk and shoves in the large A1 sized frame in it before slamming it shut again and jumping back into the back passenger seat. The SUV shakes as the passenger door closes again.

Looking at his Moms' staring at him, "Come on drive woman!" He commands Shaw.

Shaw ignores him and turns to Root, "I think we lost this one."

Root chuckles and Shaw starts the car.

Arriving at the Boat house:

Excitedly Robin looks out over the bank and towards the boathouse. The water is glistening, the sun reflecting off the smooth waves. Crowds are lined along the banks. Cheerleaders chanting, spectators anticipating and strollers stopping to peer over to see if the event has started. It is a crisp day, the sun only noticed by the glare is caused the people below it.

Although he always stole his food, grabbed the gaming controller, switched TV channels, entered his bedroom without permission and even embarrasses him in school, Robin couldn't help but look up to his older brother. He was named after Uncle Finch. He took after Uncle Reese and Ma. He was as intelligent as Mom, especially with computers.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ~~~~

The hooter echoes through the air snapping Robin to attend. The crowds suddenly woken from slumber start to to feel the excitement as the boats set off.

Watching in the distance as the competitors outline slowly but surely become more than an outline, rowing ever closing towards the section of the bank where Robin was waiting. As Harry approaches and then passes Robin, Robin stamps down on his pedals and chases after Harry on his bike, joining the other crowd of cyclists and runners. Some who were also following the race, others who were just out for their usual exercise routine that Sunday day.

At the sheds after the race:

After recollecting themselves a little, some celebrating while others commiserating in the competition results, the hosts begin loading their boats back into the shed while other volunteers start clearing and tidying everything else, wrapping up the successful day.

Having not seen Harry for months since he left for MIT, Robin breaks from his parents and walks to the boathouse.

Seeing Robin linger in his periphery for a while as he clears away his gear, Harry breaks the silence, "enjoy the ride?"

A little caught off guard Robin blinks at his brother.

"You were cycling along the bank? I like to run along there to clear my mind, it's... Peaceful."

'He does see me' Robin acknowledges.

"Congrats on another win, at this rate, nationals?" Robin offers with pride.

"H!"

Harry looks past Robin and to the crowd behind him.

"Congrats man" a male offers.

"That was so exciting, especially the last 10. Thought Ricks would steal..."

"Dude, no way! H had it all the way"

As some in the group continue to argue the events one turns to Harry, "we're gonna be at the usual [pub], you coming after?" Emily asks, hopeful.

Coming up behind him Harry feels arms embrace him, "hey handsome, miss me?"

Turning Harry spots his Mom's smirk. Before being able to respond to her, they are interrupted.

"Ok, see you in class Harry" Emily manages awkwardly as she quick marches back to the group who have already left and are sauntering back along the bank.

Turning in his Mom's embracing as she doesn't let him go, "hey Mom" and kisses her on the cheek.
Looking behind him, "who's the gir... "

Wriggling free and unceremoniously throwing his sports bag at Robin, "come on, make yourself useful" as he walks towards the sheds, Robin stumbling and scrambling to follow.

From a far Shaw remains sitting on the grass watching the whole exchange. Snorting she swigs her beer.

Monday afternoon, the day after the race:

Peeking through the door, "H, do you..." Emily stops as she sees Harry lying on his bed legs crossed, earphones on and engrossed in his textbook.

Harry looks up and sees Emily looking at the painting above his head. "Em?" He calls as he removes his headphones.

"That's a really great painting" Emily states as she continues to look at the A1 sized painting of Harry sitting on his boat resting on a river, "it looks so... Real, like a photo."

"Ah yeah" Harry answers a little abashed. "My little brother painted it. You saw him yesterday... & my Mom" he adds quickly.
