Author's Note: I was so disappointed when the series didn't end like this. I hope someone agrees with me. Ignore the length and quality, it was written in about half an hour. I just had to get the idea out.

Disclaimer: I don't own The Hunger Games, but thankfully, I own the ending.

Tables Turned

Coin looked across the table at me. "Soldier Everdeen, what's your vote?"

My vote – this was the first time since the reaping a couple years ago that I got a vote in anything I was involved with. Choice and freedom was a sweet taste I could easily grow accustomed to.

"I vote yes." Other past tributes looked at me with scepticism, but I was confident with my decision – a decision that ultimately broke the tie and determined what we as the Rebellion would be thrusting upon what was left of Panem.

"That settles it," Coin barked. "Katniss, once you assassinate President Snow, we'll break the news to the Capitol." The news they would be breaking would not simply be that their leader was diminished, but that their power would be stripped away, as well.

Later that day, President Snow stood in the square, ready to address the Capitol. I sat perched on a building fairly close to the square, bow in hand. Gale convinced Coin I should be accompanied. I fought his determination, but the only thing I was allowed was the one vote.

It would look like a better fight on camera if I had only one arrow, but if I did miss, Gale instructed he could fire a second. With all attention on Snow, no one watching would notice that I wasn't the one to shoot it. I was sure I wouldn't miss, but Gale didn't want to take the chance.

Snow's short speech was nearly over, and I knew the time had come. Gale gave me a nod declaring his confidence in me and squeezed my hand for luck. I created tension in the bow and with one quick motion, the arrow was soaring through the air; then it pierced Snow in the chest.

Coin controlled the forming mob with her stern voice in Snow's place. "People of Panem: President Snow was an imposter!" Her accusations caused the crowd to gasp collectively and listen even more closely. "He was a fake put into office to keep control on the population and single-handedly decide our fates!" There was a silence that made me initially consider that there would be a riot and someone would take the opportunity to kill Coin, but the sound to follow silence wasn't screaming; it was an eruption of cheers.

The Capitol and all of Panem would finally be under power of a government who cared for its citizens all along: the office of District Thirteen.

I couldn't help but grimace when I saw my position at the long table; this is where the others sat who had put my own fate in their hands. Finally, the tables had turned and revenge was feeling just. There was a collection of small television screens on the wall behind me that gave a clear view of every angle to be monitored. Everyone else at the table smiled as the cameras showed twelve frightened tributes that had been launched into unknown territory: one for each District that had been wronged before them.

"Would you like to do the honours, Head Gamemaker?" Gale asked coyly.

I failed to hide a smirk as I announced for everyone in the arena, and for all of Panem to hear: "Let the very first Capitol Hunger Games begin!"
