Wilkommen

Hello, once again it's Nanashi's crazy proofreader! As you might have seen, I've written a Phantom fanfic, but this one is for the fabulous CABARET! Und now, Fraulein Sally Bowles with my disclaimer!

Disclaimer: Our darling author doesn't own Cabaret, and neither do you. Kisses, darlings!

"Ain't love just so fickle…"

Sally Bowles felt as though she was listening to nails on a chalkboard. The little blonde onstage at the Kit-Kat knew nothing of love… or how to sing, at that. 1950 had made Sally's club tacky and, to be quite frank, ugly. The place had never been grand, but the performers had possessed dignity, if nothing else. And she, Sally, had been one of the greats twenty years before. Now, she was sitting out in the audience, a humbled, middle aged woman with nowhere to go on a Friday night. Her black hair was now swept up in a long braid, and her large green eyes had no mascara. However, she could still wear a cocktail dress and green nail polish.

The ghastly song ended, and Sally saw a most familiar face wandering through the audience.

"Herr Emcee?"

The slightly gray-haired man pivoted on the spot, and turned to face Sally.

"Fraulein Sally Bowles, where have you been all these years?"

"In London, Paris, Shanghai… anywhere with a night scene. No. Actually, I was in the U.S. This wasn't the place to be when there was a war on."

"Ah, but now you are back. Would you care to entertain us, Sally?"

Sally grinned slyly. She'd prepared for this. The sleeves on her dress were detachable, as was the bottom of the skirt. Even her face had been made up.

"I'd love to. Let me get backstage, and give me a little intro, darling."

After giving him a kiss on the cheek, Sally flew backstage. Herr Emcee took the stage, and bowed to the crowd with an elaborate flourish.

"Mien dammen und herren, madames and monsieurs, ladies and gentlemen, tonight the Kit-Kat club has the honor and pleasure of introducing you to one of the best voices in Berlin, Fraulein Sally Bowles!"

Sally strutted onto the stage that still oozed the familiar vibe of so long ago; the vibe of the party. Immediately, all eyes were focused on her, and her solely. The piano swelled with a familiar air, and then…

"What good is sitting alone in your room, come hear the music play; life is a cabaret, old chum. Come to the cabaret!"

Once again, Sally was Sally, and she was the queen of the stage.
