"What do you want for Christmas Emmie?" Lilly asked. Emily was waiting for me to take her to a movie.

I had just finished my last autopsy for the day without declaring murder so it was a good day. I didn't rush in because I had heard the question and desperately wanted to know the answer.

"I don't know." She shrugged.

Lilly laughed. "I wish all my friends were as easy as you." She looked up and spotted me listening through the window so she pressed the question.

I had vented to her about not knowing what to get the kid for Christmas. She had dolls and toys, games and movies, and didn't seem to want anything new.

"Are you sure there isn't something you want?"

"Well…I wrote a letter to Santa last year, but I got everything I wanted except for one thing."

"What was that?" Lilly asked innocently.

"A paint set, but I don't need one; not with all the stuff I already have."

I walked in. "You ready to go?"

She wrapped her arms around me and I picked her up.

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"Daddy's going to meet us there."

Her eyes lit up. She was definitely Daddy's little girl.

We went to the movie and got popcorn. The moment the film was over the sugar rush Emmie had been running on crashed. She fell asleep. Woody picked her up trying not to wake her.

On our way out we ran into one of my old boyfriends. It was an understatement to say that he was surprised to see me.

He was no different than the last time I'd seen him, only this time he wasn't running away. I had scared him off by telling him I wanted to settle down years ago. I was being sarcastic but now it looked like I hadn't been joking.

"Jordan?"

"Tyler?"

His date looked at him like the idea of being friends with us was completely crazy. She was in a very revealing dress. His taste hadn't changed.

Woody looked at me awkwardly and then looked down at Emily worried she might wake up.

"Oh, Woody, this is Tyler, you remember him right?" I turned to Tyler. "Tyler, this is my husband Woody."

"Husband?"

"And our daughter Emily."

The girl he was with cleared her throat.

"This is Clara."

"Nice to meet you." She said, "and congratulations," glancing towards my stomach.

"Thank you."

"It's crazy running into you."

"It was bound to happen eventually since I haven't left."

"Didn't think you would still be in Boston. After all you did like to run from place to place."

"I found something worth sticking around for."

I could tell Clara was starting to feel uncomfortable. "We'd better get Emily home. It was nice seeing you."

I smiled foolishly at Woody.

"What is it?"

"Nothing, I just, seeing him reminded me how far I've come. I'm still me, but I'm more…" I bit my lip.

Woody smiled, "It's a good thing he scared you with that commitment thing because if he hadn't we might not have ended up here right now."

"That's a bit of a stretch." I said getting annoyed with him. "Wait, how do you know about that?"

He lowered Emily into the car.

Now it was his turn to feel guilty. "I had just started working with you and I had a crush. I started asking about you and the first thing everybody at work told me about…"

I coughed the name. "Nigel."

Woody nodded. "…was the night you told him you wanted to have his children and he ran away."

"He didn't run." I said with an evil grin.

Woody scoffed. "Jordan come on."

"It was more like a dog with his tail between his legs." My smiled got even bigger at the memory of Tyler's terrified smile.

"Why are you proud of your ability to intimidate people?"

I sighed and looked at Emily and back at Woody. "I'm not, I'm more proud of myself for overcoming that characteristic with you."

He kissed me. "Maybe we should run into your old boyfriends more often." He said.

I pushed him back and moved towards the passenger side of the car and shook my head. "Not a good idea."
