Hatter's hand slid along the railing of the balcony. It was the middle of the night, but that was the only time that she enjoyed looking over Looking Glass Land. Daylight showed how imperfect the world was, but the darkness of the night brought out the beauty of Looking Glass Land that no one cared to find. Light was cruel, but darkness was forgiving.

Light forces you to be the worlds definition of "good", light had abandoned Hatter. She lived in a world filled with darkness, but she was no longer ashamed of it. She didn't want to fight what she was, for that was a fight that anyone would loose. If being herself meant being what the everyone deemed evil, then so be it.

Hatter's thoughts returned to Looking Glass Land, and she realized that she was going to miss this place when she became queen. She smiled to herself, thinking about how this world had been the closest thing that she ever had to a home. Although she never smiled a real smile in public, that didn't mean that she incapable of doing so. She wasn't the emotionless person that she pretended to be. There had been a time in her life when she had actually thought that she was innocent, but that hadn't lasted long.

She couldn't remember exactly when she had figured out that she was Alice's alter ego, that she was only a reflection. Realization hadn't come all at once, it had been a growing feeling that had haunted her for years. At first she had wanted to deny it, but she soon found no point in lying to herself. When she had finally excepted what she was, she had felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

The reflection of light is darkness, and that didn't upset her.
