Hello you audio monkeys! I know it's been awhile for updating this story and I'm sorry for that. I had major writer's block for the upcoming chapter. I really had to take a break from this story and start writing other stories and it finally hit me which I'm happy about.

So recap. In the last chapter we know secrets have been revealed. Ember is the daughter of the Black Widow and Hawkeye. She found her father. She feels lied and betrayed by her parents. Clint was just trying to protect her and give her the normal life they wanted to give her. Rick is forcing Ember to stay in the prison, Clint is protesting against him because she is her own person and she gets a choice in the matter. Daryl breaks up the argument, they talk about the rest of the Avengers if they are alive, Clint tells him he's not leaving and tells him she is just like her mother Natasha.

That's what happened in the last chapter which was mind blowing. In this chapter it's between father and daughter and it's all in Ember's POV. I thought about Clint's POV, but I decided against it.

I do not own the Walking Dead or the Avengers! I own Ember Rogers/Barton.

So have fun you audio monkeys and enjoy!

Chapter 10: Rise, Rebel, Resist

Ember Barton's POV

As nightfall went on, I couldn't sleep. The events that happened today were still fresh in my mind. I could not sleep. Even if my father is here I could not sleep. Learning about my true parentage it's still keeping me up in the night. I sighed and sat up from my bed. I ran my hand though my red locks and closed my eyes. Memories of today were flashing before my eyes, the Governor's men, almost being killed, the truth, everything was happening so fast I couldn't even think straight when I aimed my arrow at my dad. However, he did the same thing. He's been on edge since Hydra infiltrated SHIELD all those years ago. I mean, I know it was like what four, five years ago, but still he knows Hydra agents are still out there he just doesn't know where. Where are the rest of those Hydra agents are? Most importantly, where are the rest of the Avengers? I sigh, swung my legs over my bed and gently put my feet on the cold ground. I rub my tired eyes and gave a tired sigh. I hear footsteps coming towards my cell and saw a shadow in front of the entry. I looked up and gave a tired smile towards my father. "Hi." His hair was all messed up, he was wearing black sweatpants, a black t-shirt and his feet were bare. He also gave me a tired smile and leaned against the frame of the cell doors.

"Can't sleep?" I shook my head.

"After everything happened today I don't know how anybody could sleep." He nodded and walked in with his arms across his chest.

"Yeah, surprised me too." I chuckled and shook my head. We both sat in silence for a good amount of minutes, but I finally sighed breaking that silence.

"I'm sorry you know." I could feel dad's eyes on me as I continued. "I had no right to question the choices you and mom made. You were only doing it to protect me and giving me the life you wanted me to have." I looked at him and I could tell by his facial expression he was confused yet grateful that we're finally talking about it. "At first I didn't understand why keeping it all a secret because you know as hell I would have found out eventually." We both chuckled that filled the silence of my cell and he nodded.

"Well you are your mother's daughter." I nodded.

"True, but I'm also my father's daughter as well." I reached for his hand and I held onto his hand. "If you hadn't told me the truth I wouldn't be here right now. So I thank you for keeping your old life away from me. You made the right call." Dad nodded and he sighed.

"You're mother wanted to tell before she died. She wanted you to know about her life as the Black Widow. How she became who she is, how she became a SHIELD Agent, how she became an Avenger, how we both fell in love with each other and a lot more she wanted to talk to you about. However, she never got the chance." Dad scooted closer to me and turned his body towards me to look at me. "I had no idea that Fury put her back in the field until it was too late. We both tried our hardest to give you a normal life as possible, but Fury always found a way to come back into our lives. He wanted you to be part of the life we had, but your mother and I never wanted that. We never wanted you to have our life. Fury would put you through training at the age of three years old. He wanted to use you as a weapon and that's when we decided to leave. Hill and the rest of the Avenges got us out. Stark gave us the money we need and to contact if we were comprehended." I nodded understanding what he was telling me and understanding why he and mom left. I leaned in and rested my forehead against his shoulder. "We don't regret leaving the Avengers or SHIELD. So don't think ever think we left because of you. We left because we wanted to be a family." I felt a lone tear running down my cheek. I always thought it was my fault for them to leave the life they once knew, but now it all made sense. They left because they wanted to be a family. A real family. I pulled away just to look into his eyes.

"The Governor knows who I am. If I stay here everyone will be in danger." Dad nodded.

"Rick thinks you shouldn't leave the prison. He thinks he can protect you here." I shook my head.

"He can't, no one can." We looked at each other for a moment. "We need to find the others."

"I couldn't find Hill. She was in Washington with me and I lost her when the dead started taking over. Steve went MIA before all of this happened, I have no idea what happened to Stark and Thor is back up in Asgard."

"What about Uncle Bruce?" He shook his head.

"I thought I saw him in the woods one day, but I couldn't be sure. It was just a glimpse, but I think it was him. I think he was the Hulk."

"What about the twins?"

"They were in Easter Europe for a mission. I kept tabs of everyone when we left SHIELD. The last I heard they were on one of the quinjets, but that's all I know."

"So they could be anywhere by now." Dad nodded.

"If they made it to the country."

"They could have."

"But we don't know that for sure." I nodded knowing he was right. We don't know if the twins made it to the states when the outbreak started. I hope they did. They were a part of my childhood. They would always visit me as much as the possibly can. When they didn't have missions they would. Wanda would help me with my hair, play girl games and do general girl stuff. Pietro would show me how to read comics, he would read me a story before I go to bed, he would tell me stories about the adventures of traveling the world and he would talk about his past life before becoming an Avenger. He was the big brother I always wanted and Wanda was the big sister I always wanted too. They became the unofficial brother and sister to the family.

"I want to go look for them." Dad sighed and nodded.

"We'll look for them soon and I promise you, we will rise from this. We will avenge John and Martinez. We will rebel against the Governor and we will rise." I nodded and he pulled me into a warm hug. I wrapped my arms around his waist and his arms wrapped around my shoulders. "We'll bring our family back. We'll bring them home." I nodded against his chest and he rested his chin on top of my head. We didn't let go of each other because we didn't want to lose this moment. He's right though, we will avenge John and Martinez and we will rise against the Governor. Most of all, we will bring justice.

"Can you stay here?" He nodded against my head.

"Course I will." We both moved towards the bed, dad lay down on his back and I curled up against him and rested my head against his chest. He had his arm around my shoulder and brought my closer to him. His other arm rested on the back of his head. He sighed tiredly. "We'll get through this, I promise." I nodded against his chest and sighed.

"I know." I started to drift off to sleep and I snuggled against dad closer. "Goodnight dad." He felt his chest rise up and down and let out a breath.

"Goodnight sweetheart." We both laid in silence as crickets echoed throughout the prison walls. The owls were howling at night and the wolves were out running and howling at the full moon. We both listened to the sound of the wilderness and we both drifted off into a peaceful sleep with no nightmares.
