Mort woke up and looked at the clock beside his bed. "Eleven o'clock? Well you deserve the sleep." He muttered as he lay with both arms behind his head. He felt the warm rays of the sun coming through the windowpane and hitting his face. They usually liked to stay out at the cabin on the weekends but they felt lazy this time and decided to stay in Riverdale. He heard footsteps and saw Amy appear in the doorway of the bedroom.

"I'm making breakfast. Have any preferences?" She asked tiredly rubbing her eyes.

"Yes, thank you miss- What was your name again?" He asked playfully. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

"Amy."

"Thank you miss Amy, I would like two fried eggs over-easy please."

"You don't think I'm going to bring them up here, do you?" She asked.

"Why not? Isn't that the service I was promised?"

"Mort…" She said impatiently. "Be back in five."

Mort sighed but then decided to get up. He put on his bathrobe and jogged down stairs. He saw Amy at the stove flipping the eggs he snuck up behind her and kissed her on the cheek. She started.

"Mort, you're gonna make me drop the eggs!" She said.

"Well, good morning to you too!" He said walking over to the stools around the island and sitting down. "So, what's on the agenda today?"

"I'm gonna meet… I mean I have some errands to run."

"Well, it just so happens, miss Amy, that I am free. So I think I'll join you." Mort said, rising and walking over to the fridge.

"What?" She said turning. "Don't you have a lot of writing to catch up on?"

"Left the computer at the cabin. No distractions for me this weekend."

"Of all the weekends…" Amy muttered. "Fine, you can come if you want, but it'll be boring. I'm gonna meet… an old friend."

"What's her name?"

"Why do you care?"

"Someone's touchy this morning." He said closing the fridge and bringing a Mountain Dew to the island.

"Mort! What on earth…? Mountain Dew, really?"

"Come on, Amy. It's the weekend! Let me live a little."

"You won't be living much longer if you're drinking sodas for breakfast. Here." She said putting the eggs on a plate before him.

"Thanks." He said with an aggravated tone. "Look, now you've put me in a bad mood. I was looking forward to spending the day with you."

"Sure you were." She said. Mort was puzzled. What was up with her lately?
