HEY, PEOPLE!

Once again, it's NEW STORY TIME! Sorry my stories are a little short. Happy reading!

"No, Nathan. I will not convert to Judaism!"

"Why not, Jews turn out to be very successful people!"

"Not in Germany."

"That was over 10 years ago!"

"1950 minus 1946 is four! Four years ago!

Nathan and I were fighting again. It turns out, if you're going to marry someone of a different religion, either you or your spouse must convert. "Why should I have to be the one who has to convert?" I asked. Nathan couldn't respond.

"I can't decide something this big in a day!" I changed my tone. "I have to go to work. Charlie's givin' us a raise, 25 bucks a month! He said he'd do the math… No more minimum wage! Bye-bye, Honeybunches!" with that, I sashayed out of our apartment to the Hot Box theatre.

To be honest, I'm a perfectionist who stresses about every living thing. Work, Nathan, bills. I was always worrying about one of the three. I was a hot mess. To make matters worse, my cold was coming back. God knows how long it would last! Oh, I forgot to tell you a little about myself. I'm Adelaide, the well-known fiancée-well, wife. I married Nathan Detroit a year before my story starts. Nathan refused to commit, for 14 years! I wasted the best years of my life waiting on him! I had this horrible chronic respiratory infection or something, and it lasted for 5 years. It finally ended when we were wed. My book was right!

Anyway, on my way to the Hot Box, I found Obadiah "Sky" Masterson. The slick gambler, and husband of my best friend, Sgt. Sarah Brown. "Hi, Tiger…" I cooed to him.

He had the smoothest voice. A perfect mix of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. "Ah, Miss Adelaide! You know it's impolite to hit on another man when you're married!"

"You mean I can't give you a cute animal name? I give one to all my friends…"

"Yeah…how'd you like to have the time of your life?"

"Why, Sky! This is so unexpected! I'm flattered, but I'm a married woman, and I told Nathan I wouldn't do it until we plan to have kids, so-"

"No, no!" he chuckled and held my hand. I was alarmed. Very alarmed. "I need someone to take to Havana next weekend."

"What is it with you and trips to Havana?"

"Well, if you don't want to go…"

"No, I wanna go, I do!"

"Good." He took something out of his pocket. "Take this ticket, and meet me at the airport on the 22nd."

"Sure thing, Tiger."

I started to leave. He called for me. "Oh, and before you go, Adelaide…" He walked up to me, grabbed my face, and kissed me. We kissed…and kissed… and kissed…

And kissed… and kissed… and kissed… and kissed…and finally, we stopped. "Don't forget about me…" he whispered.

I could barely speak. "Uh…Sure?"

"Bye-Bye, Goldilocks."

"Okay…"

I turned away from him and continued down the street.
