Annette sat by Sebastian's bedside, holding his limp, cold hand as he recovered from the cab accident. She had been crying her eyes out for two days and prayed for Sebastian to return to her. She prayed to God to forgive her for giving up her virginity when she was unmarried, that he'd spare Sebastian; bring him back to her.

"Please, give him back to me."

Sebastian stirred only minutes after Annette kissed his hand, his fingers twitching to life in her grasp. She was immediately sitting up, alert to his movements. Quietly whispering, her fingertips ran over his bandaged cheek.

"Please… Please wake up, Sebastian…"

Suddenly he groaned; his hand curling closed around her small palm. His blue eyes fluttered open, his vision blurry as his ears rung violently.

"A-Annette… Ann..ette?" Sebastian's voice was barely a whimper, pain flooding his senses as she sobbed before his very eyes; still looking far more beautiful than any other girl he'd ever met.

"Oh… Oh thank God! Sebastian, you're okay!" Annette held herself back from throwing herself at him, knowing his injuries and their extent, though she couldn't help but lean forward to peck his lips, her opposite hand finding the nurses aid button.

"Annette…" His tone slurred slightly as his large palm came up to cup her face, his thumb running over the bags beneath her eyes. Annette could see his effort in trying to look at her, his eyes wandering behind her briefly before they focused on her face.

"You… you look tired." Annette giggled, tears of joy slipping down her face as she held his hand to her warm cheek.

"I've been waiting for you to wake up… you pushed me out of the way …"

"I'd.. I'd do anything…. To pro … tect you." Just as his sentence ended the nurse came in, smiling brightly at the sight before her.

"You're finally awake! Let me check your vitals and I'll get the Doctor."

Annette moved away from Sebastian's bed, holding his hand as he firmly gripped her palm.

Once the nurse was finished and turned the nurse's button off, Annette returned to his side. He took up her other hand as he leaned back against the bed which had been positioned upright.

"I love you Sebastian… I'm… so relieved you're okay." A new wave of tears washed over her features, her left hand leaving his grasp to cup her mouth to hold back a hiccup.

"I love you, too Annette." His voice was almost smooth, a smile pulling across his handsome features that reminded her of Sebastian before the accident.

He was choking a bit as he struggled to get out the next few words, his voice feeling a bit scratchy from lack of use as he pulled Annette closer to himself by her hand.

"L-Lay on my chest…"

"I can't, I'll hurt you."

"No, j-just do it."

Annette was skeptical but slowly lowered herself against his chest, keeping her weight mostly leaning on his arm to keep from re-opening his injuries.

"Marry me." He whispered against her skull, kissing her hair.

Annette tried not to jump at his words, feeling her heart flutter rapidly against her ribs.

"Of course." Sebastian's fingers traced up against Annette's back, hugging her to himself as he nudged her head up with his chin. Their eyes met, azul meeting cyan, his warm breath cascading over her face before their lips met in a soft yet passionate kiss, his fingers entangling into her hair.

Annette lost her all her bearings as they kissed; thanking God silently for giving her back the one man she ever loved, the one person she wasn't willing to live without.

Sebastian groaned a bit as she weighed in against his chest, the lovers falling apart slightly as she realized she was pressing against his wounds. "I'm sorry." His chuckle was light and airy, his hand continuing to cup her face. "It's fine, Mrs. Future Valmont."
